More stars if I could! This was the best! We got the Chicago Style jumbo dog - everything includes mustard, relish, celery salt, freshly chopped onions, sliced red ripe tomatoes, kosher pickle, and sport peppers piled onto a steamed poppy seed bun. The Eclair Cake is a MUST! I'm a huge fan of regular eclairs so I could not pass this up! And you must get the Cake Shake!!! I'm still dreaming of it as I write this! It's their famous, baked fresh daily chocolate cake blended in a milk shake! JUST WOW! When you get to the bottom, grab a spoon to scoop chunks of cake out! The place is super cute and classic! Lots of space for groups!

Not a very good hot dog

What in the heck happened to their hotdogs and Italian beef?! I grew up in Portillo's. They used to be incredible! The hot dogs, without ordering a jumbo, were very thick and filling. Their Italian beefs came with adj us sauce. The hotdog I got today was smaller than some junior hotdogs you can get at jewel. The flavor was very lacking. They stopped putting the signature cucumber on the dog. The dog was pail in color compared to most Vienna hot dogs. The Italian beef had maybe 1/3 the amount t they used to have . It barely covered half of the smaller sized hun (compared to old buns). The quality and quantity since they sold out. It has steadily gone down hill. They used to be an amazing chain.... Now they are no better than fast food. Plenty other places way better to visit in Chicago.

Ask the Community - Portillo's Villa Park

Am I the only one who has noticed that the Portillo hot dog is now encased in some very tough casing? I got a chili dog today that was the toughest hot dog (didn't even know they could be tough) I have ever had in my life. Very disappointing.

It's also always clean when I come & the staff is super friendly. I wish I would have gotten the young lady's name who made my bowls today because she was amazing. I'm a creature of habit and the Harvest Bowl is what I'm getting 90% of the time. Today's bowl was super fresh (as always) and very tasty! I like to swap out the roasted chicken for the blackened chicken. That's another thing I love about SweetGreen is how seamless it is to customize your meal! The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because ya girl HATES an onion. And my sweet potatoes today are giving a pinch of onion flavor. I'm assuming someone prepped the onion then prepped the sweet potatoes. Nevertheless, the bowl is still great and I'll def be back.

My wife ordered the chicken avocado ranch salad & I ordered the KBBQ Steak Bowl w/purple rice. It was delicious. Both of these salads are huge & can be shared had we known how large they were we might have. Yet since we didn't we both have enough for another meal. At first, I was disappointed they didn't have Chicago Italian beef. So I asked what they would recommend, and the very polite lady behind the counter said, "You should try my meatball sub." I laughed and told her, "I don't know... my late grandma (100% Italian) made the best meatballs ever, but alright, let's do it." Then she asked, "Do you want peppers?" and of course my reply was, "Heck yeah!" She chuckled. When the sub came out, I have to say, it was huge. I sat down, took one quick smell and a bite... BOOM. I was instantly transported back to my grandma's kitchen, eating Saturday pasta and meatballs. I highly recommend checking this little gem out. The service, the atmosphere, and especially the food were all amazing. I definitely was not disappointed. P.S. Don't skip the desserts -- once again, absolutely amazing. There's also an enormous selection of pies, worth checking out next time. Basically it's an old-fashioned diner with a giant menu and a few vegetarian options - also apparently a liquor license as they serve wine. It's not as charming inside as outside (dropped ceiling, a couple of TVs) but if you like diners you'll feel at home. Real butter and half-and-half (with a few flavored creamers) on the table. We got a vegetarian omelet, the Eggs Florentine, and a hot fudge banana split. Service was fine. Toast is served dry so you can pick how much to butter, which I appreciate. The omelets are 3-egg, heavy on the vegetables, and the Eggs Florentine had probably a whole tomato sliced and broiled and a good half-cup of spinach. Food is very mildly seasoned, but you can get hot sauce if desired. The hot fudge banana split was a vision: as much whipped cream as ice cream, sprinkles - best shared. The strawberry ice cream was notably good and the hot fudge was generous.
