We have been here many times with our friends and respective pups. We came for Labor Day dinner with our dogs. It was busy and they said thirty minute wait. We got seated and waited some more. After asking one woman who said she would find someone- 15 mins later we went inside about getting service. The manager Alexander came to the table apologizing profusely that we were overlooked. He took our orders promptly and the food was great as usual and the doggos got their beef bowls and water. At the end of the meal Alexander comped our meal which was totally unexpected. We went into Lazy dog with no reservation. We were able to get a table with in 15 minutes if arriving. The place is huge but it appears they are keeping it at minimum capacity could be due to a lack of staff. It seemed like it was people there having a birthday dinner and family reunion. It was really nice to see such a family friendly atmosphere. We ordered the hot honey feta. It cane with bread the bread was burnt. But we requested lightly toasted and they replaced it. The hot honey feta was delicious and flavorful. For the kids we got the butter noodles chicken nuggets with watermelon. The noodles with the feta dip was delicious they could make that a dish. My husband got the fish and chips. Really enjoyed the fish and chips the fish was crispy and flaky. We also got some Brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were crunchy and had pieces of bread mixed in. I got the chicken Mediterranean bowl the chicken was dry and the tomatoes and cucumbers would be better if they were cut smaller. The food was great, and prices seemed average for the area. We opted to eat on the patio since inside the restaurant was very loud and crowded. It's worth noting that dogs are welcome on the patio. Our service was not the best unfortunately. In multiple instances we never received things we asked our server for. We also waited quite a while to order our food because she was chatting with another guest. Even so, we will probably give this place another try on a less busy day, as we went on a Saturday afternoon. They have a really solid veggie burger, and there's no up-charge to substitute, which I always appreciate. I ordered the Baja California burger, which was a really nice combination of flavors. 12/31/25 update: I made a reservation for 7:15 PM and they told me it would only be a few mins. I checked again a little past 7:15 PM. They marked me down that I checked in but they didn't have a table ready for us. Very poor customer service. What's the point of making a reservation if we can't even get seated on time? I came here with 12 of my coworkers and they were able to get an area set up for us with a reservation. Service was a bit unfriendly, we put in our appetizers with our main dishes because the waiter never came by to put them in after the drink order and he was really grumpy at us. Food was not bad for the value. I got the fireside deal where you get a main dish and a dessert for $15. I ordered the fried chicken dinner and the mashed potatoes were the best part. The veggies were sauted spinach with sweet potato and bacon but it was a bit salty for my taste. I couldn't finish it. The fried chicken was fine, but the breading and the gravy didn't have a lot of flavor. The appetizers were phenomenal. I would come back here just for the apps. We shared the hot honey feta cheese which was savory and sweet and super creamy. The bacon app was spicy and perfectly crunchy. And the cheese curds were really solid as well. I was happy to try the seasonal drink special Hibiscus Margarita which had the perfect balance of sweet and sour. I was disappointed that the gluten sensitive menu had no appetizer selection. We ended up sharing the cauliflower ceviche minus the chips for me. It came with guacamole and if you paired the two it was delicious. There were many, many, many families dining on a Friday evening, so we fit right in and felt comfortable right away. I felt like prices were reasonable / just about average, and portions were decent. First time to this Lazy Dog location, but I have been to other locations. I came in with a friend during a busy Saturday rush. Thankfully, we were able to snag a seat at the bar. Both bartenders were pretty busy so it was a little wait for some service. However, we were acknowledged by both staff. Drinks were excellent. We had high hopes - the ambiance is amazing, and the outdoor patio is dog friendly and nicely heated, even in the winter. There is a super cute fire place. We started with their house made chips (complimentary for first time guests and delivered by a manager welcoming us in, a nice touch but the timing was slow) and French onion soup pastry puffs. Honestly, if our service ended here, it would be a 5 star. While service was on the slow side, these two starters were so good it more than made up for it. The hibiscus margarita, smoked maple bacon old fashion and tequila old fashion were all incredible cocktails. The basil limoncello spritz was okay - strong, and not in a good way. The biggest issue was our steaks. They came out and it was clear that they had just been wasting away in the heat lamp before coming out to us. Both of us had slightly congealed sauces and the potatoes were lukewarm. As I was cutting into my steak, as I got to the middle, it got more and more rare, to the point that the back third of the cut was just blue - seared outside and completely raw inside - not rare, raw. My husband also ordered his medium rare, though his was closer to medium/medium-well. To top it off, our appetizer plates weren't bussed until after we finished our entrees. Not huge in the scheme of things, but an indicator that service was slow and inconsistent. I'm super bummed, because I was hopeful for a dog friendly place to go with fantastic food. I've been to this location several times and while it's not the one closest to me, this location in Oakbrook is the perfect midway spot to meet friends and family driving out west from Chicago. Lazy Dogs are always spot-on, dependable, and have high quality food and service (I've reviewed their Naperville location with a glowing 5 stars) and won't hesitate to do the same for this location. I've spent a Father's Day lunch here with a table of 8 on their covered patio, and met up with an old friend and her mom, whom I haven't seen since college. Lazy Dog holds such special memories for me, for food and people. Twice, I've ordered their lunch special of a half sandwich + salad and got their club sandwich + wedge salad. This might sound ordinary but it is not. I promise you, that you will enjoy this vey much especially if you are a wedge salad lover (snob) and love ordering wedge salads that are fresh and crisp with the most perfect blue cheese crumble and blue cheese dressing. My family has tried most of the Lazy Dogs in our area, and this location is our favorite. We feel like it's the cleanest, has the best service, and a more comfortable atmosphere. Things we like to order are the hummus appetizers, the kung pow wok bowls, the desert, and the beers. We aren't big fans of the burgers. In the wok bowls, I particularly like the tofu, but beware that they are made like marshmallows-squishy with a gooey inside (I like it but my mom doesn't). The chicken is also really good! AMAZING service from start to finish! Dog friendly on the patio AND the patio is covered and enclosed! Before even saying hi to us, they brought out a bowl of water for our pup. At noon on Saturday it was busy and maybe six others had dogs yet enough space that people and servers could move around. The server was super attentive and was accommodating to our picky daughters dislike of grilled chicken and subbed Fried Chicken on their lunch special (made her day). Food was flavorful with plenty of it, price was moderate, in a good way. Everyone left an empty plate so can't think of a better way to say it was enjoyed by all!! I love the food and Ambiance at Lazy Dog and have been there a few times over the past several weeks. My neighbor gave me a gift card for my birthday. Since then, a few of my friends get together to visit different places for happy hour. Our group of 4 arrived last Friday at around 515pm to enjoy happy hour, and was optimistic that there would not be much of a wait, considering a majority of the seating was available in the patio and additional seating was available in the bar. Unfortunately, we were told that we had to have reservations for happy hour and that there was no seating available. With Happy hour closing at 6 and the amount of tables available, I had the feeling that they did not wish to bring in more people for happy hour. Unfortunately, I now have a gift card I will not be using, but fortunately, we went across the street, where we had a great time and celebrated there. Over the past couple of days, I've heard other complaints about Lazy Dog. I'm just hoping that these are flukes and this will not ruin a good place. Disappointed with the server's knowledge of the menu contents, re dairy, gluten. Also she or the runner had to check in the back if desserts on the menu were available. I hestiated to order coffee, but the coffee served tasted like instant. I'm not a snob, but for $5 a cup, it should have at least tasted like Dunkin. The chicken lettuce wrap used romaine lettuce, which doesn't bend around anything. While there was a larger table (10 people) seated, our table had difficulty flagging down the server to make additional requests. The flannel shirts staff wears fit the vibe, I didn't understand who was responsible for what. There were others with red polo shirts, but they couldn't take orders.
