I wanted to update my original review because I made one mistake--I said the pizza only had three pieces of pepperoni when I actually meant it only had three pieces of pineapple. The pepperoni was plentiful, so that's on me. As I said before, I really wanted to give Otto's a great review because the pizza had so much potential. Unfortunately, it arrived cold--not just lukewarm, but genuinely cold--which took away from what otherwise seemed like a very good pizza. That said, I have to give credit where it's due. The restaurant's customer service reached out to me almost immediately after my review. They took accountability for the issue and refunded my entire order without me even asking. That level of customer service says a lot about the business. Because of how they handled the situation, I would absolutely give Otto's another try. Maybe I just got unlucky that night. Next time, I'll probably pick it up myself, because I still think the pizza has the potential to be excellent. Otto's Pizza seemed like a solid choice based on the reviews, and I really wanted to leave a great review. Unfortunately, I can't because my pizza arrived cold. About 16 minutes after placing my order, I received a text saying the kitchen had finished it. The problem is that it wasn't delivered for nearly another 50 minutes, even though my hotel is only about a half mile from the restaurant. The pizza has a lot of potential, but cold pizza just doesn't cut it--especially when the order totaled over $50 after two sodas, a large pizza, a $4 delivery fee, and an $8 tip. To make matters worse, I ordered pepperoni, onions, and pineapple, and there were literally only three pieces of pepperoni on the entire large pizza. You could easily drive by here not noticing it as it's in a complex, but doesn't stand out. The restaurant feels like a warehouse and has some tables so you can dine in. You place your order at the counter and they bring it to your table. My husband and I shared an order of meatballs and a small onion and pepperoni pizza. We didn't wait long for our food and it arrived nice and hot. There were 6 meatballs served in a marinara sauce. The meatballs were very good. The pizza was great as well. There's just too much of it, and it throws off the balance of flavors that makes New York pizza so iconic. This was a last minute stop prior to heading to the airport to leave Portland. Visited here and ordered a half and half pizza plus a salad. The pizza took about 10-15 minutes to be ready and it was great. Cant remember the name of the pizzas but one was a veggie and the other was a meat lovers kind. I appreciate the ability to split because a lot of the meat pizzas don't have a lot of veggies on them. The pizza was extremely fresh , as well as the salad. I was looking for a simple bite after checking into the Casco Bay Hotel nearby and was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. Normally I avoid chains when travelling but my Yelp research indicated that I would have a high quality and delicious experience here and I was not disappointed. The menu here is fairly limited, with a strong focus on the pizza options. The selection is definitely unique with options such as Fresh Pineapple, Bacon & Hot Honey, Mashed Potato, Bacon & Scallion, and Pulled Pork & Mango. The prices are fairly reasonable, especially considering the generous amount of toppings that you get and the quality of the ingredients. I tried the Spicy Pulled Pork, Pepperoni, Bacon & Sausage and it delivered on flavor. One of the surprising things is that it wasn't too salty at all and the heat really helped to tie all of the flavors together. I found the amount of cheese to be just right with a good ratio in comparison to the dough and the light tomato sauce wasn't too runny and helped to give a lightly soupy feel when mixed with everything else. The best part was really the dough, which was similar to the one I had on the MSC Meraviglia cruise ship. It had a good flavor and light crispiness to it and just the right amount of chewiness. I'd like to consider myself one of the original OTTO fans - I remember when they first opened on Congress St and changed the late night eating game for the better. And of all the locations, I'll always have a special place in my heart for the 576 Congress space... but I love the John Roberts Rd spot equally as much (and for opposite reasons). I'll reiterate what I've said before: 1. It's always really clean. 2. The Maine Mall area (still) desperately needs more restaurants that aren't chains - sure, a couple have appeared over the years, and hopefully more continue to do so. I know OTTO is technically a "chain", but they still feel so local to me; it's just nice to have something like this in this area, that's all. 3. The people who work here continue to be so, so nice. They're thoughtful, accommodating, super patient, and gracious - and frequently go above and beyond just because. 4. The pizzas I've had specifically from this OTTO has always been perfectly cooked. Every pie I've had has been overloaded with toppings and baked to perfection. Try the "Steff Special": mashed potato, ricotta, cauliflower, and scallion. You're welcome! (As an aside: the cauliflower was off the OTTO menu for a while, but I'm glad to hear lots of us complained and they listened. Now... CAN YOU BRING BACK THE ROASTED GARLIC CLOVES?!). Also, get the greek salad and a side of blue cheese dressing. You're doubly welcome! 5. PRO TIP: this place is usually pretty quiet after 7pm Monday through Thursday (and they're open until 9pm those days). This was one of my favorite parts about this OTTO because it was nice to have something to do in the middle of winter, and this sort of free perk made this spot super unique - who doesn't love enjoying a local beer, a slice of good pizza, and pretending they're outside? Unfortunately, too many parents were a) letting their kids run amok which was disturbing other customers (I've experienced this first hand as I once had a sock thrown at me), and b) getting into fights with other parents about whose kid was in the right after temper tantrums erupted. This Otto's location is tucked into a strip mall on John Roberts Road behind the Maine Mall in South Portland. What a little gem. It has an industrial look and a very inviting atmosphere. The pizza is of the same quality as the original restaurant in Portland. It is thin crust with light sauce and perfectly cooked. I had a slice ( very large) of the mashed potato, bacon and scallions. The combo seems odd but you just need to try it. The potato gives the pizza an amazing mouth feel, so creamy. It is my absolute favorite!
