Unfortunately this dish missed the mark for me. The noodles were sitting in a noticeable pool of oil and the overall flavor was very mild. The ingredients seemed fresh, but the seasoning and balance just weren't there. Not awful, just disappointing compared to expectations. That said, our waitress was fantastic, especially for only her second shift. She had a great personality, was attentive, and really made the experience more enjoyable. One small note: Yelp currently lists the restaurant as Buranos but the storefront and menus say Bambino's, which was a little confusing when arriving. Managers appeared to be in a meeting at the bar but weren't concerned with the quality of the dishes coming out. read more

This is one of the most disgusting restaurants I've ever been in. Wow!! First thing I noticed upon entering the restaurant is the open kitchen to my left. Just as I was about to think how cool that was. I see a sweaty man sleeping on what seemed to be a prep table in the middle of lunch service. I thought it was a joke. I sat myself towards the end of the bar, where someone had had a jug out marked "chocolate milk" with the date crossed off. It was dated October 16 or 18th, I couldn't quite make it out. Whether it's been rinsed out or just continuously had new milk poured into it, that is revolting. There was one person working, running around as best she could. You could see her continuing to take orders back to the kitchen window (where I saw the man sleeping on the table). It seemed to be a common problem of them sending out food to a table but not sending out everyone's food. I ordered a meatball sandwich and it took 53min, my boyfriend ordered a Caesar salad with chicken, it came out 10 minutes after they brought me my food. WE WERE ON THE SAME CHECK! The Parmesan cheese shakers had what looked like bugs inside of them. When did they even clean anything in this place? These people are poorly trained, and no one seems to care about anything. I figured out towards the end of my visit that the manager was sitting in the bar area at a high top on his computer the entire time watching this place fall apart. I've never seen anything so unprofessional in my life. The reason I figured out that the manager was sitting there was because the girl asked him for help, and she asked him for help three more times before I left, and he never moved from his spot. I needed some comfort food and I needed it pretty quickly. I stopped into the fish store next-door, but it just was not hitting my sweet spot. So I went over to Butanos, sat down at the bar and Tia, behind the bar, made some great suggestions which just turned my evening around to be so much better . My food of choice was a shrimp linguine - rich with cream sauce and a nice beer with the pumpkin spice rim. Tia was encouraging and very friendly. The atmosphere was comfortable and (even though it was just sports commentators on the TVs which I didn't even watch) I was enjoying myself and I left in a much better mood ... with a belly full of delicious food. We loved this new(er) place in Scarborough, Maine. The service was super attentive once they realized that we were sitting on the outside tables (this took about 10 minutes or so) but the waitress that did start helping us was phenomenal making recommendations and really digging in on what we wanted. We had the fried pickles that came in a heaping order that could have fed an army but they were crisp and delicious. We then got two personal pizzas and I LOVED mine. I usually am a flat bread fan but this was a woodfired doughy crust and I actually loved it. It had a variety of meats and veggies on it and you could tell it was hand made. My wife got the Margarita pizza and hers was very good with one exception, it was covered in olive oil ... not just a little oil, this thing was COVERED in oil where she actually used a napkin to sop up some of it as she just couldn't eat that much oil. We loved the outside seating because the inside was filled to capacity with little room to move around. So.... I want to love this place, because it's local and I live pretty close by. I actually can't even remember the flavor of the food, because the service was soooooo bad. The pictures look good though. I could see my wings in the pickup window for 15 minutes and then when they came to the table they were wrong. Clean and cozy pizza, wing and burger shop located near the Fish Market. This is not an Italian restaurant, but - as noted - a pizza and wing joint. They have Coke products; a big plus. We started with the Greek salad and boneless buffalo wings, then shared a small pizza pie (our own creation). Greek salad is made with spinach; not sure I understand that. Still, it was well made and tasty. Boneless buffalo wings were also tasty, but not really served all that hot; I doubt they were cooked to order. Pizza was solid; can't go wrong with the pizza here. Service is friendly but a little slow and inattentive - could use a bit more training on professionalism (and maybe spend more time helping customers than playing on your phone). Overall, a "good" if uninspired place for lunch. read more

Welcome to the neighborhood, Buranos! We are so friggin' stoked you're here, seriously. We have been lacking in the pizza-department for far too long. When we saw a pizza shop was opening we had the highest hopes - and boy did those hopes come to fruition! We stopped in on Dec 30th, our boss took us to lunch. The place was poppin' at 12:30 on a Thursday! I always go with a classic on my first visit, so an 8" margherita it was - it did NOT disappoint. Ingredients were clean and simple, exactly what you want on a margherita: tomato sauce, dollops of mozzerella and fresh basil leaves on a light, chewy dough. Eff yes. My boss got the Muffeletta which looked incredible and his wife tried to steal. Said wife got the buffalo pizza and she said it was 'okay' but she continued to eat the Muffeletta. My coworker got the Hawaiian Bleu and loved it. She pulled the cherry peppers off and mentioned they were making her nose run, but said she would definitely order it again. The owner was our server, he was an absolute delight. We talked with him about the other two locations, the business name and how he was being received here in Scarborough. We're so happy to have Burano's here. ...so happy in fact that my husband and I came back the following evening (New Year's Eve) for more and brought my parents! On that trip, we tried more! We got the 12" Margherita and it was sheer perfection. Additionally we got a 12" Pear d'Carter (sliced pears, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula and a balsamic drizzle, HIGHLY RECOMMEND), the buffalo tenders (loved them!) and my dad got a Caesar salad which he didn't enjoy - he said something was 'off' with the dressing - what I tasted was a hefty mustard flavor...made me think that this could possibly be a fresh-made dressing, and my dad is used to Ken's. The price was higher than expected - an 8" margherita was $13.95 and I put that bad-boy down by myself, no problems. I guess that's expected for Scarborough? Also - let me just say that I adore the decor. They kept with the fire-station feel - exposed brick, ladders, lamps and axes - even fire hydrants on the beer taps. Love this place. Really enjoyed Burano's! The interior is filled with small wooden picnic tables to seat yourself. As you walk to your table you pass an open window view into the kitchen, where you can catch a glimpse of the star of the show- the wood fire grill. It only took a few seconds before my sister and I were greeted and asked what we'd like to drink. When our waiter returned we ordered some "specialty wings". These had a sauce combo I've never tried: peanut butter sweet thai chili , topped with bacon. They did not disappoint. The bacon didn't really stay on the wings but it was still yummy to eat, dipped in the sauce afterwards. One thing I noticed about Burano's, is they aren't afraid to stray from "traditional" toppings. The pizza combinations are endless here. They have some already prepared concoctions, or you can choose to build your own. I went with the Pear D'Carter 12 inch (garlic ricotta cream base, mozzerella, caramelized onions, mushrooms, topped with arugula and drizzled balsamic glaze). I'm a huge fan or using different sauces at the base of a pizza and this combo was fantastic. Sometimes it's hard to cook a pizza evenly with a wood fire grill, especially when it's packed with toppings. Burano's absolutely nailed it. I'd say it's a thin crust, but rugged enough so that when you pick up your slice, it's not flopping, causing the toppings to slide. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu! read more

When we pulled into the parking lot, we could smell the woodfire from outside. The restaurant is somewhat small and has a firefighter aesthetic. We were greeted and sat down immediately when we walked in. Service was fast and friendly. Food came out just as quick too. I love that the menu has funky combos that are usually not common; like duck as a topping. I played it safe and stayed with my comfort this time around. The home made Alfredo tasted delicious and happy I was able to get that as a base. They chopped the broccoli and chicken up small enough for the perfect bite sizes spread out. The pizza is thin, but held its form as I picked each slice up to eat. I've had issues in the past where it would flop down or toppings fall off from how flimsy it would be. Second time here and brought son since we loved it last time which was maybe a year ago. We ordered 2 different pizzas, fries, and wings. Waitress was excellent, friendly and attentive however it wasn't very busy on a Thursday evening. Both pizzas were rather bland. Caramelized onions were more sautéed and the roasted garlic had hardly any garlic flavor. The other pizza with pears again very small pieces chopped and hardly and flavor. While waitress and service pretty good we were very disappointed in the pizzas. Place was clean however view from our table of a collect all shelf unit was not very attractive . I want to love Burano's, but I don't. We have gone 4x and were disappointed every time. The service is incredibly slow & frustrating. The bar seats are so uncomfortable I can't wait to leave. Of course the easy solution is to not sit at the bar, which we won't if we ever go back, but that's unlikely. The pizza is ok. I love the crust but do not love the flavorless sauce. The wings, also ok, nothing special. I want to support this local restaurant but after 4 disappointing visits, we likely will not go back. read more

We were greeted by Lizzy who was great; I got a Moscow mule , my wife got a glass of Mohua, Rob and Karen got beer . Rob ordered the margarita pizza , he loved it with that thin crust , Karen got the backyard BBQ and loved it also, my wife got linguine and meatballs and I tried the home made meat balls they were but my wife said it could have been warmer when it arrived and I got the Greek salad with blackened Shrimp and it was awesome We didn't have dessert cause we were all full but lizzy let us talk and catch up for a 1/2 hour wasn't too busy at that time!! This place has potential but struggles so badly with execution. The last several times we have ordered takeout, something has been very wrong with the order. A few examples: meatballs drowning in red pepper flakes so they were inedible; buffalo wings with no buffalo sauce; pizza with dough so raw that we had to cook it at home. Terrible service and food. Waited an hour before service and the ticket never went through. Multiple tables were sat and finished before our food came out. Never asked if we wanted another drink. Nothing comped, just a tiny discount. Saw wings in the window for 30 minutes with no heat lamp that they poured hot buffalo sauce on to make it look fresh. Bunch of teenagers that don't care about their jobs or quality service. Wish I had just gone to Blaze instead. Will never come back to this place unless they hire new staff and turn things around. The food is so good! We got boneless tenders, the seasonal salad with chicken,and a meatball. All super delicious. Probably one of the better salads! For the main course we got two 8 inch specialty pies. I got the pesto chicken with red onion and artichoke--to die for. My definition of comfort food! My partner got the Pear pizza with prosciutto and arugula. We will definitely be back, I really wanted to try the Mac and cheese. My 3rd time here. First two visits pizzas came out HOT & cooked perfectly. We are at the bar. Nice selection of assorted pizzas & other stuff. But I just picked up our pizza to go and the bottom of the pizza was burnt as was the crust. I don't mind a cooked bottom or crust but this was too much. I didn't notice until I got home with it. Burano's is a newer spot in Scarborough, an area which has other pizza options, but none that can compete with nearby Portland area pizza restaurants. We opted on a cold day to call ahead with a party of 6 of us and they said they'd make a table for us. It's a smaller spot, mostly brick and incorporating ladders and other things paying homage to the building which was formerly the fire rescue/police in town. It's a casual atmosphere. Staff was friendly, but understaffed as I think two waitresses were serving, clearing, bartending and seating people. We were quite patient, but all agreed we waited longer to be seated due to the lack of help as we watched dishes needing to be cleared off multiple tables. Other than that negative, we all loved our food. I had the Margherita which had light, thin, wood fired crust, decent sauce, melted mozz pearls and nice fresh basil on top. My wife had the "specktacular" without meat and it was a great flavor, you could definitely taste the truffle oil. Rest of the crew had pizzas as well and their two kiddos who had Alfredo pasta and pizza and they loved theirs. Local draft options alongside with the standards were on smaller side but good! I would say all in all a good spot we will return, but mostly for take out for now. Keep in mind that cost is a bit higher (I could easily eat two 8" pizzas which were 13.50 each) but you are getting some good pizza! read more

Sigh.... I just don't know what to do with this place. The inside is nice, the food (the one time we got it) is great, but the service has just been a disaster on our two occasions. I honestly just feel bad for the people that work here because I've heard them all talk about having to cover doubles and people calling out, and clearly finding more staff is a major problem, but I just can't go back until they get it sorted, which hopefully for their sake will be before summertime. We sat at the bar both times as we usually do places, so maybe if you're at a table you get a server that's able to be a little more dedicated? Again, I feel for the staff but the first time we waited a super long time to get drinks and the food order came out different than what we ordered, but it was good. This last time, on a weeknight, exact same situation. Poor bartender going out of her mind trying to keep a million things straight, make drinks, etc. Took about 15 minutes to get drinks (at which point we could already tell trying to get food was going to be a disaster and decided to have one drink and stop at another restaurant on the way home). A lot of people around us all with empty glasses as well. I have to say, and I don't mean to throw anyone under the bus, I'm sure the taller guy with the beard and glasses is a very nice person, but he had zero situational awareness as when the poor bartender was going out of her mind and we were sitting there for 15 minutes playing on our phones with no menu or drink menu, he just kept folding napkin rolls and talking to a lady in front of him. And listen, I know that work has to get done, and maybe he'd been working 14 days straight too, but the whole thing is just a mess and there's got to be a way to streamline things a little even with the limited staff they have. There's a lot of good stuff going on, so maybe we'll try it again in the fall and see how they're doing. read more

Mehhhhh... messed our order up. Pizzas were sloppy... dough was barely cooked & had way too much cheese. Not what I look for when I'm ordering brick oven pizza. 15 year olds running the kitchen. Building was clean, I will say that. They are brand new so I'd hope they're clean. Super slow service even in a not so busy night. Extremely awkward dining area. Sat behind the bar.
