High ceilings and lockers that require tall ladders for access. Each locker has rows that are a depth of three bottles. The tasting room is sophisticated and classy. Upscale decor with plush seating. No windows but there is a fireplace and they offer spirits for those who need a break from wine (is that a thing?). They have a server there five days per week (Tuesday to Saturday). If someone offers to take you to this club, you should enthusiastically agree. One of the most interesting places I have discovered in all of Portland in a very long time.

One of the cheeses was very soft and spreadable and another cheese that had a waxy appearance but was not a hard cheese. The spreadable cheese seemed to be a goat cheese with a very mild flavor, it was slightly earthy and sweet. I know, what a weird combination, but it was super good. Based on the other a cow's milk cheese and had a very mild and forgettable flavor. But it's probably for the best to serve safe flavored cheeses at such parties. The ambiance at the Boundary was really nice for a wine tasting/pickup party. There were overestuffed chairs next to a fire in the fireplace, and plenty of seating around the bar. There was always someone staffing the wine pouring stations. Hopefully other wineries will take note and hold its wine pickup parties close to downtown. I'm lucky enough to have a super rich friend who had me over for lunch one day. The lobby is spacious and open, and meeting rooms are well appointed for comfort. Natural light abounds throughout the building; it's as if light is more valued than darkness. Many people at this club are younger, hipper, and friendlier than other ritzy social clubs. The service in the dining areas is exceptional and the food is impeccable. Truly one of the finest dining experiences in Portland. If I were super rich, you can be sure this is the club I would join. Their building is in a beautiful mid-century modern home with a small formal garden to the North and a greenhouse behind. The Portland Garden Club might be a match for retired relatives visiting or moving to town. They are the quintessential private club, you have to be asked to join by an existing member. The Portland Garden Club is a private club for women concerned about conserving our soils, the plant world and its creatures.

I volunteered to become a foster parent. I fostered 3…read morekittens that were orphans. Sharon the owner/the woman who runs this shelter told me that the "family" that dropped them off were completely unreachable. So she asked me to foster them. The day I picked them up I expressed openly that I would want to adopt them (being as they were orphans). One employee and the previous foster mom who passed them to me told me that was possible. Over 3 weeks later we received a phone call from Sharon saying that she had made a mistake and that the family wanted them all back. After the fact that several foster homes raised them during the difficult stages. Of course this was very upsetting and heartbreaking to me and my family. Come to find out she wasn't being truthful about the situation. We were told that it was 1 family that was out of town on a vacation to Europe. But the truth came forth that it wasn't 1 family but yet 3 different people. We have no idea what was in it for her financially but this seemed wrong. I received thereafter a phone call from the police dept. telling me that she was stating that me and my family had stolen these kittens. Demanding their return. This came as an incredible shock to us and our children. Who has done nothing but love, and care for these babies for weeks! My children are devastated to have to have said goodbye to 3 sweet souls that they grew to love. With reluctance we arranged a time and day to return them to her care, to avoid any legal issues. She then proceeded to accuse us of not returning the correct kittens. Again I received another call from the police dept. I just want anyone and everyone to be VERY aware of this shelter and this woman before considering adopting from them. My understanding of a shelter is to give animals a loving home and keep them off the streets. Obviously this is not her/their intent. My want to help and foster has been completely tarnished and I am now scared to ever try and help again. We hope that every animal in need finds a loving home and we would hope that this entire staff of people will find their way back to the intent of this business.....
