I'd been attending an Adventure Boot Camp in San Jose for the past year, and knew I needed to keep the exercise going. Plus, I was hoping to meet some people since I knew no one here. I discovered the Lake Oswego Adventure Boot Camp after a disappointing try at a different camp. I've been with them since August and what a fun summer and fall it's been! The fantastic trainers are Katie and Noelle; they are very energetic, supportive, and funny, even at 5:30am! Every workout has been unique; I can't think of one complete repeat. That keeps things interesting, challenging, and definitely not boring. I've consistently burned 400+ calories (as per my heart rate monitor) each workout, which for me is awesome. If you can't do a move, they provide alternate exercises to avoid injury. We use weights, move around the park (but will be moving indoors for the winter next month), and have fun doing it. They have camps at 5:30am, 7am, and 8:30am, 4 days a week. And if you want an evening class, they have their "Power Half-hour", which I haven't taken, but I hear it's quite challenging and fun too. I drive 10 miles to get to their location (Foothills Park for outdoor, and the Wizer's building for winter) - at 5:30am. The best part is that when the hour is over, you've gotten a great workout done, and you're wide awake and ready to start your day. Thanks Katie & Noelle!

I was hesitant at first because I am not in the best shape and I was concerned that it would be to hard for me, but Katie makes each work out customized to your fitness level. I knew I was having a good time, because the hour flew by, and I knew I was getting a good work out, because I was sore after every class. Beyond the results you will see in the mirror, Katie (and Noelle) are very sweet, caring ladies who really have your best interest at heart, and want you to success in your fitness goals. I couldn't recommend it more.

Fortunately, the wrong trainer turned out to be Alberto -- who ended up being the right trainer (for me)! As of the time of writing this, I've been working out with Alberto twice each week for over a year. One of the first things he did was help me recalibrate my diet/macros, which wasn't something that my previous trainer (a few years ago) spent much time with me. The approach was customized to my own health and performance goals. Having an opportunity to work with him, he has a good cadence of going into a targeted zone for around a month and then begins to shift. This has helped me get better at planning my solo workouts (i.e., if I know I have another big leg day coming up -- I might focus elsewhere the days leading into it). Results? Down ~20lbs and just got back from a session where I broke my personal best for deadlifting. I've never felt stronger. My only hesitation in recommending Alberto is that more people might make him less available for me. :-)

Love Orange Theory Happy Valley! I haven't been to any other locations so my review is specific to…read morethis location. Pros: Class availability and sign-up: Easy to find class times via the app. I haven't had any issues getting in and sounds like the only waitlists tend to be for the 5 am. Good to know: This location does close early on weekends which is fine for me since I only have time to workout during the week. Efficient class time: they honor the 60 min which is great. Half tread and half floor and I'm walking out the door on time - I've been to other workouts that regularly go over by as much as 15 min and it's really hard to plan for. Good to know: You can be up to 10 min late to a class if something happens. If you miss a class you will be charged. Instructors: they're so great and positive. All three I've been to have been wonderful. They definitely keep the energy up and create an environment where everyone is welcome. Also provide guidance on proper form which is helpful. Space: Very clean. Showers on site. Everyone is supposed to wipe down equipment after use. Floor space is also clean and all the treads and machines are in good repair. Good to know: floor stations are close together so if you like a little more space- sign up to be with the group that has fewer people to start the workout, usually the floor since most folks like to start on the treads. Accessibility: There's lots of parking and it's a convenient location. Overall: it's a great workout that combines cardio with strength. You work at your own pace and it's a place where all ages, bodies and fitness levels can feel welcome. Good to know: your membership allows you to take classes at any Orange Theory in the country.

You cant access the class schedule times online without signing up and giving all your information to them. Why would i sign up for spam text, emails, calls when I don't even know if there is a class time that I can attend? If they could show their class schedule openly on their website it would greatly benefit the public thats interested in possibly trying a class.

You are not locked into any long term memberships that I found at other gyms. When it comes to equipment they offer all the things you need. Plenty of cardio machines, free weights, and circuit training. They have a large number of TVs as well. Overall FFL is my recommendation for a no frills gym that offers excellent value for your money. I don't think you will be able to find other gyms that compete on this level in the area.

This is a small but very well-kept gym right across the street from Market of Choice. Even though the place is not that big and the basement-like location=no windows, there are plenty of machines, weights, medicine balls, etc. I usually never have to wait for a treadmill. The bathrooms & machines are spotless, the staff is really nice, and I just get a good feeling after working out here. There are free yoga/pilates/aerobic etc classes you can take, so check out their schedule. Times to avoid: 4-6PM. Lots of after-work folks here during this time. The one downside of going to a small, locally owned gym: really limited hours. They close at 9, which is fine during the summer when I have plenty of time, but other times, I prefer to work out late at night!
