Loved chatting with Tom and learning about local history and the amazing Atascadero micro climate! A generous and gracious host! Love the homemade apricot jam he shared with us!

I recently got married on 10/10/20 and I decided to change my wedding from 100 guests to 8 guests since both my father and father in law are at higher risk for COVID. Peggy and Tom were so sweet and understanding and were able to adjust my wedding package. I am SOOO happy I chose to get married at the Portola inn. The grounds are absolutely GORGEOUS and your wedding photos will look so amazing! Not only will you have a beautiful venue but Peggy also acts as an event planner which was so helpful! She was always very prompt in getting back to me with any questions or concerns I had and even referred me to amazing local vendors. On the day of the wedding Peggy was running around making sure everything was set up and helping with last minute details. Tom helped make sure that my arch was secure since it was such a windy day. He even helped my dad with his tie! Both Peggy and Tom went above and beyond and I can't thank them enough. I felt very safe having my wedding during a pandemic at the Portola Inn. Peggy and Tom were respectful and made sure to have their masks on at all times and followed guidelines. Do yourselves a favor and book your wedding at the Portola inn. You won't regret it!

    Beautiful venue for a wedding

This was such a lovely venue! The staff members were very friendly, and it's very customizable for the event. There's lots of space, and it makes for great photos. One of my complaints is the with such a nice venue, there should have been a guest restroom and not a porta potty. The bartender did a good job at handling the long line, and everything went seemed to go smoothly. I loved the house where the dance was. I was told there's a strict 100 person limit, and I could see why because it's a somewhat small venue.

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. We attended a family wedding there in April. Everything…read moreabout it was horrible! It was pouring rain that day. The venue staff put together cheap, wobbly tents together that leaked on guests & the tables. The bride had to walk down a dirt/muddy path to the ceremony site. Staff should've been covering her, especially since they had her wait on the other side of the gate before entering the ceremony site for over 15 min. The ceremony site wasn't covered at all! All guests, wedding party, bride & groom were getting soaked! If you wanted something from the bar, you had to wait in the rain. All the reception chairs were at the ceremony site. Staff started bringing them over, some staff started wiping them off since they were all wet but shortly gave up cleaning them off then told guests to get their own chairs out of the back of the p/u that was parked by the tent. The spacing for tables & chairs was a joke. Everyone was crammed in like sardines, some people couldn't even sit down due to lack of space! It was a wet, cold and windy day and NO HEATERS ANYWHERE! Everyone had to walk in the rain to go get their plate of food that was getting wet and was already very cold. Completely unappealing! They had 2 porta-potty's for the women. Unfortunately, at the very beginning of the wedding, one stall the door wouldn't lock, the other stall wouldn't flush! The wedding coordinator should try working in a different profession if this is how she handles situations! The venue staff should be ashamed of themselves! I ended up with pneumonia, and I know others who got sick from attending this wedding, which I now call a "Shit Show Wedding"! I hope whoever paid for this wedding received a hefty refund!!! We hope the bride & groom live a long & happy life together, in spite of how this venue treated them & their guests! We recently attended another family wedding somewhere else, and it was absolutely wonderful seeing how well the venue staff took care of the bride & groom and all the guests! Everything about it was wonderful!
