Everyone also enjoyed the fries, which is included in most meals. Also, the "white rice" is more of a pilaf (as it includes bits of carrot and peas), which was also tasty. The hot sauce by the table is sour and a bit hot. While I didn't personally enjoy it, I've tasted something similar at other BBQ joints, so it's more about personal preference. Note: the ribs don't need sauce as it uses a dry rub. I just tried the hot sauce as I was curious. Note: this placed used to be a restaurant called Brasa; hence, why you'll see "brasa" in their website's URL but not on the sign outside. Also, the portions are huge; no one finished everything. I ordered the full plat of ribs to share with someone else and we still had left overs. Will definitely return if I'm in the mood for BBQ. P.S. if you dine in and eat BBQ, you may want to take some napkins from the bathroom. The table has cloth napkins which don't so a good job at getting the oil off your fingers. Just don't use the napkins from the bathroom for anything other than getting the oil of your fingers before you wash your hands.

At first, I didn't smell much when I walked in, but the owner was kind enough to let us check out the kitchen--and boom, that wood-burning setup was fired up and doing its thing Great experience overall, and I'll definitely be back.

Come hungry because they are not playing around with those portions. The sandwiches are delicious, but I have to talk about the Portuguese treats. The classic pastel de nata was my FAVORITE! The pastry is so flaky, and that creamy custard filling makes it hard to stop at just one. Seriously, don't skip the natas! And the NATA LATTE?! I absolutely loved it. If you're already a fan of pastéis de nata, having those flavors worked into a latte just makes sense. Definitely something I would order again. We also tried the cod fritters, which were very good and another nice addition to everything else we ordered. Between the huge breakfast sandwiches, delicious Portuguese flavors, flaky natas and that nata latte, Gilda gives you plenty of reasons to come back. It's one of those places where you start thinking about what you're going to order on your NEXT visit before you've even finished what you have. Do yourself a favor: get a sandwich, but whatever you do, DON'T leave without a pastel de nata. And if you're a coffee person, try that nata latte too!

Parking…read moresituation, one-way streets, stuff in proximity and the locale being pretty close to the river seems to point to that. Kind of felt the need to put that out there, it's not really a suburban location. That said, echoing some of the others I'm reading snippets of, WOW to everything - the service, the food, the ambiance. It's got charm when you walk in, looks old but not dated. The waitstaff is super friendly, has some jokes, multi-talented (they brought out the guitar a few times to wish some other folks happy birthday), and knowledgeable. The food is really good - everything I tried was just delicious. For the table, we ordered some calamari and empanadas, and both were good. Drinks were also tasty - that sangria was really good, and the mojito (love that they had it available, first of all!) was also a hit. I would double-click on that sangria, though. For my entree, I ordered their whole fish, which was not only delicious but HUGE. I ate about half of it and was full. Then my friend and I split an order of limoncello cake (I think that's what it was), which was on point, and ended w/ espresso, also good. Overall, everything about that place was great, and when I mentioned a Spanish place in Trenton the next morning to some guys I was with, one of them asked, was it Malaga? That was just another great review, for a local guy to know what I was talking about just by description. Bravo, I think some of us may be back sometime!

That lobster was fresh, tender, and actually cooked right, not rubbery like you get in a lot of places. Service was dialed in without being overbearing. Drinks stayed full, timing was on point, and it felt relaxed the whole time. The ambiance has that classic, comfortable vibe where you can actually enjoy the meal instead of feeling rushed. Walked out full and already thinking about coming back. Definitely a spot I'd bring people to when I want to impress without overthinking it.

After looking more closely at the different options, this one seemed most aligned to my parents' diet, so we decided on this. I had also asked a colleague who lives in the area about this vs another BBQ place I've visited before in the area (Pork Chops BBQ), and he had good things to say about Flemington BBQ, so I decided on this. When we arrived my parents realized they'd visited this spot before and enjoyed it. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful, though some of the staff have more limited English. Still very hospitable, though, and it's a pretty good space. Lots of seating inside, casual look and feel. This place seemed similar to Clark BBQ, another place we've been to, and this one appears to have more room than the one in Clark (but prices are a bit higher). We ordered three platters - chicken, pork spare ribs, and grilled sardines - and all of the food was really good. All of the meats were nicely crisped and flavored, and the sides were good too (yellow rice, fries, veggies). I liked the food a lot, and I would go back for another meal! They also served bread to start the meal, which is a nice touch.

The owner was super friendly and outgoing. He provided lots of communication, and at the end of my time there asked how everything was. I ordered a chicken breast sandwich which came with fries. It was a delicious sandwich served on a fresh Portuguese roll. The accompanying fries were generously portioned and just the perfect amount of crispy. For future visits, I hope to explore deeper into the menu. My one critique on the place - today is a 100 degree day here in Flemington, and the restaurant's dining room was very warm. Not sure if their air conditioner broke, or they just don't have A/C.
