This was our first time at Yianni's, after many years of driving by and wanting to stop, and it exceeded expectations! The resturant is as beautiful on the inside as the outside. The bartender let me try the different Greek wines before ordering a glass. We wanted everything of the menu, but landed on the flambé cheese ( amazing!) and the shrimp appetizer. Both so good.... We hung out for a little while longer enjoying our wine and sangria and decided to get more apps to try. Round two we got a trio of dips and tried the hummus, the eggplant spread and the potato dip. All 3 were delicious and it was served on n such a cool tray! We also tried the zucchini and eggplant chips. They were so thin and light and crispy... the best thing we tried! The menu features authentic Greek food with plentiful selections and truly offers something for everyone. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the preparation, and all the ingredients were so fresh. The bar menu also deserves a bit of recognition as drinks are prepared with a Greek flair. This Greek place is one of my favorite places since it used to be named Gus's crossroad, the variety of food, the quality of food, a great service, the friendly owners and staff makes you feel like you're at home. I just have to correct one thing that on the menu they say they have eggplant hummus which is impossible because hummus translate to chickpeas in Arabic, and if it doesn't contain chickpeas, it cannot be hummus, hummus was named after the main ingredient in it, which is chickpeas (hummus in Arabic). read more

Came here with dinner reservations and was seated right away. Couple of great things I noticed right off the bat: the vibe was very vibrant and cosmopolitan, and the staff was extremely friendly! For drinks, I got the strawberry lemonade. One of the best lemonades I've had. The portion sizes for each of the plates were huge! We started off with the 3 spreads with pita: eggplant (was a bit bland), fish roe (too salty), and garlic (amazing). We ordered the "today's special" seared duck. The duck was cooked to perfection! The skin was crispy and the meat was super tender. The mushrooms were generously seasoned! It also came with pickled cabbage which I wasn't a huge fan of but it balanced out the saltiness of the duck. Yianni's is delicious! We had a great meal here for my partner's birthday. The saganaki was especially great, and always fun. For my entree, I had the Aegean platter which was nice and abundant with seafood, but as some other reviews have mentioned, a little overcooked. I'd get something else next time. My partner enjoyed his moussaka. It was a little sad when, after I let staff know it was my partner's birthday, they said "of course" they have a little birthday celebration that they do... But they never came to give it. And what's more, when they brought the bill, they gave it to my partner! I don't know if the message was passed on or just forgotten, but it was a little disappointing. They've done a great job with the renovations, though, and the patio looks especially beautiful. So glad this restaurant is back up and running! read more

The appetizers with 3 choices of dip with freshly made pita, the divine Greek chicken soup, the wonderfully fresh and flavorful seafood were all fabulous and made our son's birthday dinner very special. Had an INCREDIBLE Greek dining experience at Yianni's Taverna in Bethlehem today. Started with the Saganaki (kasseri cheese flambé), Raw salmon, Greek salad, and Octopus (xtapodi). The salmon was super light, thin, and great pop of citrusy flavor with lemon. The saganaki was cheesy goodness lit on fire right at your table!!! And the octopus? Unbelievably meaty, almost like grilled chicken but with a little more rubbery texture. Greek salad tasted so fresh and clean, and the FETA!!! So tasty! Paired all of this with a fruity Pathos cocktail. Next up was the Pastitsio, which is like a Greek lasagna. Greek noodles, ground beef, feta cheese, and soft, pillowy bechamel sauce on top. Last was the chocolate fondue dessert. We also got baklava cake. The inside of the chocolate dessert was loaded with a thick, fudgy sauce that I wish I photographed. The baklava cake was perfectly flakey, and the ice cream on top was so creamy! Want to try authentic Greek cuisine without hopping on a plane?! You MUST visit Yianni's Taverna.
