My family and I visited Miguel's because it is a local eatery and we never dined there before. Unfortunately, it is unimpressive and bland--for both food and atmosphere. I have no idea how it got 4.4 stars on Google and here on Yelp. The building itself is old, fair enough; however the owners do nothing to capitalize on old world architectural appeal. Consequently, the place is drab, dark, and dingy feeling. The wobbly tables, banquet hall chairs, and dishwasher stained cutlery were SO cheap feeling. Additionally, our table was located right on top of an air vent that BLASTED cold air onto everyone and made it so uncomfortable to sit at. We had to cover the vent with a menu and hold it in place with our feet. Speaking of the menus, they seem to never wash them, as we received ones that had oily fingerprints and were sticky (hence why we didn't feel bad about using one as a vent cover.) The menu was appealing, but the dishes did not deliver on quality or flavor. They served us complimentary hot rolls (very nice) with garlic and oil. They need to add more garlic and spices because it was mostly tasteless oil. We also shared salads and littleneck clams. Salads were meh. Clams were ok. For our dishes, my family said their food was fairly mediocre. I personally had the linguine molusco, and I encountered sand in my clams, yuck! The sauce and pasta were too loose and soupy, which significantly watered down any flavor. We skipped dessert because we thought it wasn't worth it. I see a lot of potential in this place, but the atmosphere and menu need a serious overhaul and revamp. read more

We were on our way to Allentown airport and found Miguel's in Belfast. It was 2 min off of main highway(33). The place has a great old bar with a good selection. I had the crab cakes and enjoyed them my wife had the garlic shrimp and she seemed to enjoy it. Server was friendly and professional. I appreciate the effort this restaurant put forward and the prices were reasonable. I would recommend Miguel's. Stopped by here a few times, first time eating here. Went with appetizers PEI mussles and garlic shrimp. They start you off with warm slices of bread with a garlic oil for dipping. The mussels were good. The shrimp came out sizzling, not so much garlic, oh well. Strange dish, it was like they took a couple of shrimp and cut them into small pieces. read more

On the recommendation of a friend, we decided to make a reservation at Miguel's last night. It was such a disappointment I honestly don't know where to begin. We were seated almost immediately but that's when things began to go wrong. They had a musician performing live music and his amp was turned up so high that people literally had to yell to be heard at their table. Consequently, the noise level was off the charts! We sat there for nearly 20 minutes before anyone came by to ask us if we'd like something to drink! Everything went downhill from there. We finally received our Entrees 2 hours after we sat down! Honestly, I would have been OK with that if the food had been exceptional. Unfortunately it wasn't. The only good thing about the experience was that the waitress was extremely apologetic. I don't know why there are not more reviews here on Yelp for this restaurant. Due to the Covid-19 situation, we came here for dinner to sit outside on the large wrap around porch and were pleasantly surprised how good it was. Sitting outside can tend to be noisy from cars with loud mufflers but we felt safer outside than eating inside. Our waitress (Michelle) was wonderful and very welcoming. She had provided us with recommendations for items both on and off the menu and her suggestions were spot on. The prices are very fair for the QUALITY of food served. We had the chicken croquettes (Fresh homemade recipe) and mussels made spicy in a tomato base (Fra Diavolo style) for appetizers and as she suggested they were both fantastic. Then we both had the Chicken breasts in lemon sauce with capers, I believe on the menu it is called Pollo Picatta. The dinner also comes with a large sized salad with salad dressing of choice. Not only was the dinner delicious, it was as fresh as can be and was NOT loaded with salt. Food was presented neatly and instead of pasta I was able to have the vegetables and roasted potatoes as a substitute. Everything is made to order however, the wait time was minimal and well worth the wait! By the time we finished the appetizers and fresh baked bread, the dinner arrived. Dinner food portions were good, enough to take some home if you like. Once this Covid-19 situation eventually subsides, we would like to go back to eat inside. But for now we will only eat outdoors where there is good common sense social distancing provided. We will definitely return and look forward to the experience again. read more

My first time here the service was slow, but that's because the waitress was basically working solo. Even so she handled all her tables like a pro. I was very impressed. I had 2 drinks, both were quite tasty especially the Jameson Green Tea. Bread and oil were brought to the table, unfortunately the oil was tasteless so I added salt and pepper and then it was delish. We ordered 2 apps the mussels were just ok, but the escargot was amazing. Our entrees were the filet mignon from the regular menu and the chicken and scallop special. Both were good, but the special only came with 2 small scallops I was expecting more of them. I would definitely come back and recommend to others. read more

This quiet town has this nice spot with an even nicer waiter/bartender I stopped in just for something quick and small to eat. because i was going to a BBQ but the food wasnt ready lol (dont you hate when you go to a party...you arrive and the food isnt ready) so my dilemma sit and starve to death or venture out and find a quick bite, which lead me to Miguel I ordered a small pizza the mozzarella and tomato with a martini and it was everything i needed to hold me over. While in Bethlehem on business, I had some down time and decided to head out to Jacobsburg State Park to take in all of its 1,168 acre goodness and live my life a little bit more "deliberately" as fate would have it. I came away with two things from this experience: 1) always bring a flashlight if you're attempting to cover 1,168 acres in one day, and 2) Bring some damn food! Shit can get real, and not in some Walden Pond existential kind of way, no, more like the I'm starving and if I see another human being, this might turn into an Alive type of situation. But I digress... (Enter stage, left) Miguel's Restaurant and Lounge, you saved the day! Famished from my arduous afternoon of Thoreau-ing myself to the wilds, I wondered if small plates would do the trick. No matter, I'll just get many of them, maybe 20, and have a drink, or ten at the bar. Now I'm blushing... This bar is beautiful! The whole building, really, transports you back to well, a simpler time, an era when one would "... rather be happy than dignified" - I later learned that the site used to serve as a Victorian Hotel, quite fitting. Of all the bar bites and snacks, which are reasonably priced at a mere $5 and apps at around $8-$10, the Gambas al Ajillio stole the show. Who doesn't love shrimp sauteed in a peppery garlic, tomato, and brandy broth? Simple and refreshing. The goat cheese and escargot were also nice compliments and were prepared with careful attention to subtle detail. For my entree I was curiously drawn to the Pork Osso Bocu as in most occasions this calls for veal shanks, but nonetheless, I am not one to shy away from innovation. I am glad that I made that call because Miguel's take on this classic Italian dish was delicioso! By the end of my meal I had slain my beastly hunger and wished for a minute that the hotel was still operational. I needed a stiff drink and while that quench would go unsatisfied, it was probably for the best as my drive would continue for a bit back to the city and back to a reality I had long forgotten during this adventure. It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards... I didn't know where I was going, but somehow knew that any road would get me there. In the morning I was nostalgic about my meal the night before. I can't go back to yesterday - because I was a different person then... a person without Penn's Woods, a person without Miguel's. read more

Walking into this unassuming place, I didn't know what to expect. Well, sometimes a little surprise can be a fine thing. We came on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere is a bit outdated (we ate by the bar), but it was passable. I ordered the cream of broccoli soup and the lobster ravioli and my friend ordered the shrimp over rice. The soup was very good. Delicious. The lobster ravioli was okay. The layer of lobster meat inside was lacking. The shrimp over rice though was very good. It was bursting with flavor and the seafood tasted fresh as well. After about an hour or so, a pianist came by to sing live music. Wow, now this place is feeling very warm and cozy. While was food was alright, the live music made the experience memorable. Awesome. Wished more restaurants would put a spin on the customer experience like Miguel's. read more
