They spend a lot of the morning playing outside when the weather is nice, and then they come in and do lots of free play, as well as art projects, singing and reading. They eat lunch and have a nap. The more my daughter is able to communicate with us, I know she's getting lots of socialization and people skills from having to get along with other kids all day. I'm thankful for all the influence she gets from the teachers; I know she learns things from them she would not get from me. The church itself is beautiful, and secure during the day; parents access it using a code that unlocks the door. The rooms are vey kid-proof and the playgrounds are age appropriate - there's one for each classroom! They're helping with our potty training efforts, and they also offer soccer and dance for an additional charge after school. I don't think this solution works well for people who have true 9-5 jobs, but it is much closer to what we need than 8A-6P day care. The school day ends at 2:30, and even though my husband and I are fortunate to have flexible schedules, we still employ a babysitter who picks JJ up from here and takes her to do something fun like the playground or the library before bringing her home closer to 5. It's closed several weeks a year, so we have college kids who help us on off weeks, and we're getting smarter about scheduling our vacations around those times. JJ's three grandparents also help make it all work, handling pickups when no babysitter is available. On the rare occasions when I'm able to pick her up, I always get such a great feeling that she's had a wonderful day, easing into the day-to-day of life, being a member of a community and learning the golden rule and how to be a better friend to others. I know I'll always be thankful to this sweet little school for loving our kids so well.

We wanted to use cloth diapers, which a lot of those centers refused to do. With a lot of centers it seemed to be about us conforming to their program. At Apple Tree, it was more about what we needed. Cloth diapers? No problem. Breastmilk, no problem. Leaving for the Summer because mom doesn't work summers? We don't have to worry about losing our spot. We have loved the staff. The owner is very present in the business and knows everyone's name, knows the children's names, and is generally a great guy. This is a family business and has been around for a long time. Our child is excited to go to school every day. They are currently rated as two-stars, but they are pursuing the third. The three-year-old class does art every day, sings songs every day, and runs a newly installed curriculum. They take great care to keep the place clean. It does not have that daycare smell that I've experienced visiting other providers. And their prices are reasonable.

We finally left the center midway through the summer because one of the teachers said my 6-year-old son was "going to get it" if he didn't "shut up and lay down." The worst part was that when I called to tell the managerial staff about this incident, they not only told the teacher who complained, but gave her my personal phone number and information. The teacher called and said my son was a liar and that she "knew better" than to make threats to the kids at school. It's been two months and I'm still waiting on the reimbursement check from the center for the money I paid for time I didn't use. The manager agreed to give me this money back since I left due to threats being made to my child. Horrible center. Horrible teachers. Crying children left and right EVERY DAY.

The YMCA has been associated with such fun homosexual acitivity for the longest time, long before the Village People got involved, and so Gaylord is a perfect name for this lovely facility in the heart of OKC. This YMCA was really nice. The bikes were pretty good but not the best kind. They only have two of them but it worked well for me, as the facility is super quiet. They only allow you to have one towel per person, which is sort of like only allowing one tampon per period. I think. Maybe. Still, better than having no towels at all. The weights equipment works really well. They have a big cross chest cable thing which I really appreciate. Not very many people use the facility as I said, which is probably for the best since it's pretty small. Same could be said about your ex boyfriend. However they do manage to pack all the equipment in quite well. Same could not be said about your ex boyfriend. The showers work really nicely. And you know what else works nicely, in the showers. The locker room is in good condition and I have no complaints. Some of the guys in the locker room were really rude but that can happen anywhere. You know what else can happen anywhere. The facility has a parking lot across the street and even though it's pretty old it works really well and I liked it. But people at the front desk were friendly. Somewhat. I'm torn between a 4 and 5 star rating for this facility but overall it was a positive experience, so we'll go with 5.
