When I envision a hair appointment I usually place it in the same category as a spa service. Relaxing, calm, inviting, a self care experience, etc... This was my 3rd time visiting my stylist at this location and it was the complete opposite of relaxing. The entire time I was there I could hear loud banging, stomping, and what sounded like a stampede, or people dribbling a ball. Despite having music and the tv on, the noise from up above overshadowed it. What was meant to be a relaxing hair appointment after a long day of work, quickly turned into an added stressor for myself and stylist. Building management should have carefully thought out the decision to place a dance studio on the top floor, directly above self care spaces. It's not fair to the stylists and their customers. I got my hair cut from Doris. Cost me $75 and it was a simple cut. I needed my ends cut, long layers trimmed up, and bangs. She cut my bangs pretty well. The length was a bit shorter than I wanted, but ok. The layers, though!! I seriously wonder if she knows how to cut layers. I had seen a previous reviewer complain about her hair, but so many positive reviews made me think that was a one off review. Her idea of long layers was to take the top layer of my hair and chop it off! seriously. You can see the line. No blending. Just a blunt line of hair! It's awful! And then she curled my hair, which I thought was odd. I know why she did, though! So I couldn't see what she did!! After paying $75 for this cut, I now have to pay $75 to get the cut fixed!!! read more

not a good experience. I went to Doris and she was very very rough with my hair, she put no product, no heat protection. I went in and told her what I wanted with my hair and she continuously cut me off, and suggested doing it her way. Which was already frustrating. She shampooed my hair and went in with THE SMALLEST comb to untangle my hair with NO PRODUCT. She was literally ripping out my hair. I asked for layers around my face and she made them so choppy and all different lengths. She finished with in 10 mins and charged me 80$! For a single hair wash and cut. Nothing special. When she asked me how I heard about the salon, I told her I found them through Yelp and she proceeded to tell me how she's the "highest rated" and I should "leave her a good review". Due to my busy season schedule, I had to squeeze in a hair appointment here as it is close to my client. I had grown out my hair so long for my wedding, and wanted to keep it long, but really needed it shaped up and split ends cut off. I took in several pictures of similar cut right at or below my shoulders so I could still put it in a pony tail for working out and low maintenance when I need additional 10 minutes of sleep. The lady's first pass started at my shoulder and by the time I left there, my hair now sits at my chin and long way from getting into a pony tail. So very disappointed and upset about it. I've gone to Posh Salons' other suites/businesses and had good experiences, but I do not recommend Kary, a hair stylist. I've been having a bout of TERRIBLE luck. I've recently changed my hair style to an angled bob and have very specific wants. Every time I finally find someone who can do what I want, someone happens, they leave, etc. Kary had GREAT Google reviews. Sadly, she joins the pile of stylists unable to accurately listen to someone about what they want. Let me specify - I had a dozen or so photos, some of which to point out things I specifically did NOT want and others to illustrate what I did want. When she was done, I had an ugly looking bob (I have had cute bobs). I corrected her on how the back should be. She sort of fixed it... not really. It should be short and stacked in the back... again, pretty much a bob back there. She needed to fix the sides so I had the angle because I didn't have one at all (shorter in the back, longer in the front to create a slant along the jawline), but I feel like if I have to correct a stylist more than once, they didn't really listen to me, and what am I paying for? And I paid $55 + tip for something I hate! I will say that it's not the worst cut I've ever received. It's just OK. Not so bad that I had to go home and immediately shower, but enough to be pretty upset about it. She does give a good wash. I like scalp massages, and she did not disappoint there. Sad when someone says, "Well, I've been cutting hair for over 10 years," and then spends half the appointment talking about how people just don't know how to give this cut. *shakes head* Oh well... First let me say, this review is NOT for the updo the salon did. The updo was stunning. This review is for the make-up I had done before a wedding. AWFUL!! 3 other bridal party members and I had their make-up done here. The gal doing our make-up didnt even ask us what we wanted or how we would like to look. She just started without consulting us. Our foundation looked like clown make-up it was put on so thick. After about an hour, any smile lines around our eyes and mouths had make-up settled in them and we looked like old women. It was like an oil slick was on my face! It was $65 for make-up that ALL of us washed off before the wedding. What an absolute waste. Also, when I asked if she could add some highlighting colors to the corners of my eyes at the end of the session, she seemed perturbed that I asked for anything extra. Everyone at least once, needs to try Sydney at Posh Salons. I have no idea why it's taken me so long to write a review. I've been seeing Sydney for years now. She even did my hair on my wedding day. I have several friends who also go to her and won't let anyone else touch them! Sydney is everything your head has ever dreamed of and ever will. Simple as that. She listens to you. I can honestly say that no one has ever heard me quite the way she has when discussing a new style. That in itself is rare if you ask me. I always go in with a grand plan, and never can quite explain what it is that I want. Most of the time it's because I don't really know myself. I usually walk in and show her some pictures and say "make these two hair styles have a baby" and every time, she. Nails. It. She's consistent. She's got an eye for color combos unlike anyone I've ever seen, and I know my fair share of stylists. I always leave her chair blindsided. I feel like I walk in not even knowing how badly I want what I'm going to leave with. I'm 100% absolutely happy every time I leave. I can't quite explain it. Everyone I know calls her the hair wizard and it's pretty much the truth. You're really just wasting your money going anywhere else. Especially, if you live in The Woodlands or Spring. Recently, her fabulous hairdresser JoAnn started her own business and relocated to the Posh Salons near the Woodlands. My friend and I went with lily back in March all the way from Austin, she completely fried my hair. Bleached my roots to platinum white when all I wanted was blonde highlights everywhere but wanted a ROOT MELT not white hair!! I never asked for white blonde hair, my hair was a level 6 and just wanted lighter highlights and even showed pictures for reference. She then proceeded to bleach my hair for more than an hour and I was in pain and she clearly saw that. I paid the money and acted like I liked it but I was so distraught and in PAIN. When we drove back to Austin my scalp was still in pain and my bf saw that I was bleeding in different areas on my scalp. I had to wait three weeks to go to a different salon to fix my horrible white roots and yellow/orange tips. I forgot to write a review and just remembered because someone asked my worse hair salon experience and it was here! I also want to mention she did a horrible job on my friends mom and my friend complained to her but she was rude. . Why did I wait so long to review? Well like I said, when someone asked me my worse experience it was definitely here. I did not want my money back or anything and was definitely not asking for it. I got a balyage at the salon and it turned out pretty nice. The price was fine, the end product looked good and the stylist was easy to work with as far as getting on the calendar. The primary reason I won't go back is that for me the format of the salon just doesn't work. I felt like I was getting my hair done in a closet. My stylist had a very small room with no windows. She mixed the color right in front of me at the mirror. It's just not much of a relaxing experience and instead feels a bit more like having you hair done by a girlfriend at her house. read more

I had a color and cut in the "Stylz by Lisa" space. I was very hesitant to have my hair done after so many bad experiences, but I decided to take a chance and was once again disappointed. I tried to be very descriptive and precise about what I wanted done to my hair and I felt like I was being rushed when I was trying to explain what I wanted. When I mentioned how hesitant I was she replied, "Honey, I've been doing hair for 18 years and I used to teach. I can do what you want." She did not mention the prices of anything she suggested, and when I inquired what they were she acted annoyed. We decided on all over color with highlights and I made it very clear I did not want any of my former color visible and stressed and I wanted NATURAL LOOKING HIGHLIGHTS, not CHUNKY APPARENT ones. For a short time when I first arrived, Lisa's boothmate was present. During that time I felt like I was invisible. They maintained a constant chit chat with eachother. As soon as I got in the chair I was completely ignored. I did not feel welcome at all. In fact I felt like I was inconveniencing them. When her boothmate finally left, I was bombarded with chatter from Lisa talking about herself. No I do not want to hear about the time you were roofied in Mexico. So the application of color commences and one tidbit of her one-sided conversation stood out to me. She was explaining how, while trying to get a job at a salon, they wanted her to take classes to update her technique. Unheard of! According to her, she had been doing hair for 18 years and had her routine down and didn't need anyone telling her how to do hair. Well needless to say that was a red flag. I should have run then. Weird how her profile on the website says she keeps up to date with current trends and techniques. Once the color was done and my hair was dried, I was horrifed. Chunky highlights. And my former color all over the place. When I said I thought we were doing all over color first to get the brown out of my hair she acted as if she didn't know what I was talking about. Thanks Lisa. Now we get to the cut. All I wanted was a trim and that turned out fine. I had a very specific idea for my bangs and even supplied a picture and somehow that was even messed up. Usually when I am in the salon chair, I say "Oh I love it." because I don't want to hurt their feelings and then start crying as soon as I get in my car. I decided to grow a pair this time and tell her I was unhappy with it. She said she did everything I asked her to and that if I wanted I could come back and she can put more highlights in. Everything I pointed out to her, she basically shot down and said I'm wrong. I said I would call and schedule a time for it to be fixed. When I got home that night and took a closer look, I noticed the color had bled. There were splotches all over the place. I called the next day and in the most polite way possible said that she basically did everything I asked her not to do and that I really didn't feel comfortable going back to her. I asked if she could refund me for the color, since I didn't have many qualms with the cut besides the bangs. She refused. All in all, I doubt I will ever go to a salon again. I should have known anyone who substitutes a Z for an S shouldn't be trusted. read more

I have to say I'm biased about this place, No not because I own it, or my husband owns it or anything like that. A friend of mine works there, and after deciding to see her skills after knowing her for 10 years, I made the hike out to the Woodlands. Now mind you, I live in the Spring Valley area, so this is not across the street. The salon is super nice, they have spray tanning, nails, clothes, and jewelry, kind of like a one stop shop. My friend, Kary cut my hair, and I was in and out in 45 minutes blow dry, and straightened. She also does extensions, highlights, color, and what ever else you would want. I walked into this salon and was pretty impressed. I loved the colors inside and you are greeted by the receptionist in the area. This salon is different than others, it has a whole bunch of little salons inside of it. I met Ashley and was very nervous!!!! Almost every person hates the feeling when trying a new stylist. Ashley was very understanding and gave me her undivided attention. We talked the whole time! She was also very understadning. I gave her an idea and let her run with it. The cut and highlights were amazing!!! The price for the services were not high at all compared to other salons. I can not say enough how much I love her! DON'T BOTHER! I purchased a Groupon for Shawn Slaughter at Posh for a cut and partial highlight. Because it was after hours, I messaged him the day I made the purchase direct from his website stating that I'd just bought his Groupon deal and wanted to make an appt. 2 days later, I hadn't heard back from him, so I called. No answer so I left a voicemail. 2 more days passed. Still no response from Shawn. I called again and left another vm. Still nothing. So I called Posh Salons' main line and spoke with the manager. I explained the situation to the manager saying I didn't understand why a business (in this case, the stylist, Shawn) would use Groupon to get new customers if they weren't going to respect those new clients by honoring the Groupon and/or returning phone calls. She agreed with me, apologized and, to my surprise, said, "I'll talk to him - again." Again?!? Wow. So she's gotten complaints before. The manager went on to suggest that I get a refund from Groupon - which I was already planning to do. I just wanted to know before I contacted Groupon that Shawn hadn't drowned in all the Houston floods or was incapacitated for some other reason and that's why he wasn't responding to my communication attempts. She confirmed, however, that Shawn had been at work on all the days I called, wasn't ill or injured, and that the phone number I used was correct. I use Groupon not just for good deals but to find a new service provider -- why should I pay full price for a service done by someone I'm unfamiliar with? If the job is done well, I'll go back and pay the standard rate, if not, then I don't and I haven't wasted too much money. And, if that service provider/business doesn't communicate well -- or at all! -- the Groupon has served another purpose by showing me the true colors of the business and not to use them. Thankfully Groupon's customer service is outstanding and they'll refund your purchase if unsatisfied. read more
