In the past 30 days, I have had two mailings be disposed by the USPS. The only thing these two packages have in common is that I dropped them off here. One got delayed because the postage payment was not correct. I guess that means that when it got to the fulfillment center, they determined the postage was not correct for the weight. The other was disposed of without explanation. I NEVER have any issues with packages I send from other post offices or that I get picked up from my house. As much as I NEED a neighborhood post office that is close and convenient, I can not use this facility. IT IS HORRIBLE. Please, have someone properly manage this place. Get the supplies they need to their job. AND PLEASE get them enough staff! What in the world?! I have never walked in here and seen enough people working here or any supplies. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? As a small business owner, I have had to replace two orders!!!!! AND MY ORDERS HAVE BEEN DELAYED!!!!! I had come to retrieve a package, and the clerk was ready to efficiently and professionally provide the important and valuable parcel to me without any hassle. They carry a full line of boxes and packing supplies, which is handy. Conveniently located near the Eastern Market Metro and Trader Joe's. DC had issues with mail delivery reliability early in the pandemic, but this post office and the mail carriers are back on their game now. I was trying to pick up a package that was not delivered yesterday, I found out from Amazon that the delivery person for some odd reason did not deliver it but sent an update to Amazon that the package was being held at the Post Office "at the customer's request". That would be an odd request since she got it while out on her deliveries and the only one that could make a request like that would be me. The lines move quickly, the staff is friendly and they always have an abundance of stamps and mailing supplies. Mail is dispatched in the morning and after 4:00 p,m, in the afternoon. Staff will provide a special manual cancellation if you ask for it. The post office is located in the basement of the Longworth Building, but is open to the public. You will have to go through security upon entering the Capitol complex. It is easily reached by tunnel from the Cannon and Rayburn buildings.

Luckily, I looked around enough and found a way to enter the building to notify the employees of my appointment (although I would argue they should have a sign with some sort of instruction for this situation). Another man was with me doing the same thing. A woman, whose name I don't know, treated me with such aggression and hostility that I have never experienced before. I opted for a passport appointment rather than a drop off location so that I could double check that all of my materials looked good-- to no avail. She ordered me around, barely reviewed my documents, rolled her eyes and scolded me for anything I said or did, and got me out of there as quickly as possible. Most frustratingly, I just recieved notice from the state department that there was an error on one of my materials-- one she could've easily helped me out with if she just gave me an ounce of her attention and did her job. Incredibly disappointing. This is also my first Yelp review ever unfortunuately-- I've never had such a bad experience.
