Decent place for postal supplies, they have many boxes and containers for all your shipping needs! The staff is also very friendly, and they chit chatted with me while trying to help me find the most appropriate box for my oddly shaped object. I didn't actually buy any postage from here though, but judging from the other reviews it might have been better that I didn't! I only bought shipping supplies, and they were all decently priced (on par with Target). This is also in a great location (the Rivermark area) but it's frustrating when you can't find parking. read more

Postal Annex is close to my apartment, so I've been in a few times for random errands and the service is always very friendly. I had my passport photo taken here and have also dropped off a few packages to be shipped UPS. I will agree with the other reviews, it is more expensive to ship packages from here than at the post office, even with insurance and tracking on priority mail. However, the first redeeming quality of this location for me is that their drop box for envelopes is convenient for me, considering I live in kind of a desert for dropping mail off. There are no blue boxes or post offices in walking distance for me from my apartment property, and there's no charge to drop off a postage-stamped envelope in PostalAnnex+'s mail drop-off. Furthermore, regarding shipping parcels and packages, I will also say that there is rarely a line (much unlike at the post office), and I have always received an accurate tracking number, insurance, and on-time delivery for my packages shipped from this location. Also, the staff has always been helpful and courteous to me. Maybe I am just ignorant to how much shipping packages "should" cost, but I will conclude that I've never been particularly shocked by the cost of priority, insured shipping from this location (increased though it is). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ read more

I love coming here for my shipping needs. I've used this place to mail international and domestic packages/letters, as well as fax, and I've been greeted with friendly and prompt service every time. I see the owner each time, I'm not sure of his name but he is a very nice gentleman, and he has never given me a bad experience. My only complaint is the busy parking lot, but that's just how Rivermark is with the Safeway right next door and all of the other popular establishments close by. Took my package and my money. When my package never went anywhere told me tough s*#$ and it wasn't their problem. They didn't care if they had taken my money to provide a service, basically it boiled down to the fact that the service I was paying them for was the privilege of giving them my money. As a bonus, lied to me on the phone that they had told me not to use USPS because this might happen when I was in the store doing the shipment. Super sneaky people So I had to return my Prada bag to bergdorf goodman and I used the smartlabel that bergdorf goodman provided and dropped it off at this place. BTW I ended up buying a box from this place and the box alone cost me $9!! 3 days later nothing showed up in USPS system so I called this place and the owner interrupted me after my first sentence and said he would call me back ASAP. 4 hours later no call back - I had to make a trip there. When I opened my mouth said "I tried calling earlier" the owner interrupted me again "oh I tried to call you back is your # XXX-XXX-XXX9?" As the last digit of my # is 8 instead of 9, I almost bought it thinking he might misheard me until I accidentally saw the # he wrote on a piece of paper and it is exactly my number with the last digit being 8!!!!! Sneaky sneaky liar! I did not confront him as he is in his fifties and I do not want to embarrass him in front of other customers. Then he went on and blamed USPS for not entering the tracking number into their system and I had to leave without ANY help. I still do not know what happened to my return - I just hope bergdorf goodman will honor me refund if my return is lost or god knows what the Postal Annex did to it! read more

Opened a business P.O. Box at this location. Checked back weekly or bi-weekly for mail and always had nothing. Finally, I came on and saw mail in my P.O. Box. Opened the box only to find that it was someone else's mail. I asked the store "manager" who had no idea what was going on and asked me to return when the owner was there. I returned and spoke with the owner who set me up with a different P.O. Box. Sent a piece of mail to myself a week later only to come in and find nothing. The owner said I should have sent it certified... I was pissed and demanded a refund for the annual charge which they gave me. Long story short, they rented the box assigned to me to someone else and then acted as if it was my problem. Terrible way to conduct business! read more

They overcharged me by 40%+ for UPS Ground, and later said "it happens all the time"!!! I originally liked this place because of the friendly people, but now I feel swindled: 1) Shipped a 38 lbs, 27x20x20 package via UPS ground to SF with $400 insurance, for $42.23. I asked, "Do you charge the same as if I went to UPS directly?" And clerk A said "yes". 2) Sounded like a lot to me, so when I got home I rechecked the prices online. UPS website said $27.45! 3) Went back to store to ask them about it. Clerk B reenters the package info and still gets a quote of $42.23. I ask, "Does this happen a lot?" He says, "All the time!" 4) I figure maybe it's just the UPS website that's wrong, so I call a UPS store just 2 miles away. They quote me $29! 5) I went back to the Postal Annex and talked to Clerk A again, the one who said they charge the same as UPS. Now he changes his story -- "...sometimes it's more, sometimes it's less; we go by what the computer says." So if they knew that their charges differ, as in 3), and 5), then they must have knowingly lied to me in 1) !!! read more

Their rates are more than 4x the post office. The first time I went here was great. I was just getting a passport photo taken, and they were quick and efficient. The second time I went here was to ship a gift to a friend. The price they quoted me was 9 - 10 bucks to send the package to TX. The package was a small, light gift, so I was surprised at the quote. I asked them how much it would be if it shipped in an envelope versus a box, and they said the price wouldn't change. I thanked them, took my gift and left. I went to the post office that is just a couple minutes away. The total cost to send the gift was $2.41. I understand Postal Annex is a private business and has every right to mark up their prices to make a profit, but to mark them up by more than 4x the actual cost seems a bit much. I would go here again if I needed another passport photo perhaps, but I would not go here to mail anything. read more

I've only been to Postal Annex because its conveniently location right across from my house. But its prices are exorbitant! Most recently, I wanted to get some docs notarized and passport sized photos. They charged $10 for a pair of photos and $10 per notary. And he wouldn't do my out of state marriage certificate even though he can do certificates from India! So I went to SFbaynotary on 1208 E. Arques. Only $5 per notary and he did my certificate. Seemed nice; gave wrong information. I specifically went there because they are Fedex "certified". I popped in last night 2 minutes after closing @ 7:02PM. Guy said his cash register was closed and he couldn't do another transaction [perfectly understandable]. I asked him, "So what other options do I have in this area for Fedex overnight?" He said, "None. Besides, the overnight deadline is 5:30 even at the airport; all the planes have left." I was skeptical, and exited. I used my smartphone and drove 5 more miles to an actual Fedex/Kinko's location. Turns out the overnight deadline for West Coast destinations is actually 7:30. I successfully shipped my pkg last night which arrived at destination this morning! I would advise getting a quote before sending anything from here. They are triple the price of any mailing spot I have used. I mailed a small frame ground delivery and they charged 30.00 to ship and 10.00 for packing. Small box and bubble wrap. My husband went into get an I-9 form notarized this afternoon. He only needed the second page notarized as requested by his employer and the notary public there refused to notarized it because he did not have the first page. He then began to school my husband about California notary laws which was funny because my husband is a notary public. Horrible customer service and uneducated notary public staff. Do not send mail here through USPS. Save yourself money and go to a real post office. They buy stamps from the post office and jack up the price to make a profit. So here is the situation: This is an "Authorized UPS dealer" as their advertisement states. 1st issue...they don't accept AMEX. Considering that they are a postal annex store and with many businesses around there would be a lot of business people with AMEX cards to send out shipments. 2nd issue...the person in charge there was very dishonest. Wife goes in there to send out a shipment that is a biz related transaction so it has to be on AMEX. He boxes up the content and then tells her he cannot accept AMEX and that he won't unbox the system and she has to pay for it somehow. Then i call him up (since i'm not there physically and my wife called me up to tell me the situation) and explain to him that it has to go on a biz credit card and we need the contents unboxed and returned to us so we can take it to a real UPS store, he agrees and then hangs up the phone right away. Turns around and tell my wife that she needs to pay and not with AMEX. He completely ignored what he agreed to on the phone w/ me and doesn't even explain to my wife about the discussion and even after she asks him. Long story short...we end up paying out of our pocket instead of company card. I called him up to ask why he didn't give back the contents to my wife and he said that she paid him w/ a personal card. Wife comes home and tell me that he didn't even tell her about my phone conversation w/ me and that he wouldn't accept AMEX and needed a card to charge. To me this guy is very dishonest, very rude, no regards for customer service. Rather drive down to Mission College Blvd to FedEx or UPS stores. It was a very simple solution that could have avoided this whole issue. Be honest w/ your customers. read more
