Love this place. Picked up many pieces and paint for Covid restrictions. Can drop off (haven't yet). Went there a number of times before Covid for birthdays, just bonding time with my daughter and her friends, and to relax after a stressful week. Relaxing atmosphere. I LOVE paint your own pottery places; it fills the void of artsy-ness in me, having grown up making my own ceramics, yet now not having the time/money to indulge. First of all, the staff here is awesome. Always friendly, outgoing, and helpful in any way needed. We discovered them with a coupon, but have been back a few times since. We even had my stag night/bachelorette party here. They were fabulous; they reserved us a few tables put together, and let us bring in food, drinks and even wine, and everyone who came had a complete blast. I love that they have items of all different prices; from $1 to more than $40, and you just pay on $8 studio fee and can do as much as you want. If you're like me and super thrifty, Tuesday nights are 2-for-1 studio fees, and Fridays are "date nights" (your definition), meaning that studio fees are $6 each. Firing has a turn around of one week, so you can get your items back fairly quickly. Potluck may not have as many fancy options as some of the chains, or hoity toity places downtown, but it is a rocking local business with caring people, affordable prices and many fun times to be had. My partner and I LOVE coming here, whether to make to-go mugs (seriously! With lids!), chip and dip platters, cat dishes, salt and pepper shakers, garden gnomes, wine glass holders, or more. Fun way to spend an afternoon with friends! Of course, as usual with me, it was a Groupon that drew me in the door. They have a nice selection of items to choose from and the staff was very helpful. The only thing I thought was weird is that there were no paper towels on the table to wipe your hands on -- this can be pretty messy. I attended a party here last night. It was a great time. You choose your premade pottery from large a selection and then you paint it to your liking. PROS: large selection to choose from, reasonably priced, and relaxed atmosphere. CONS: although they had plenty of supplies including stencils, stickers, and paint no one pointed this out. Many people (at least my table) were unaware of this helpful items until we were finishing up. I wish that the employees would've explained things better. Also I did not like that the facility did not have anything to drink, not even for purchase. With the similar arts and crafts businesses offering drinks, this was my expectation. Last but not least, I don't like that you have to return in 7 daysto retrieve your finished product. That is inconvenient. All and all, I would attend another event here. read more

I just got a Groupon for $20 with a value of $44. Great! Sounds fun! Claudia was working and told us we had to pick out $44 worth of items and told me she wouldn't go and over anything price wise with mebut that she tell me the price when I was done. We pick out four items and had a blast painting. When we finish I end up having to pay $20 extra so essentially I literally got nothing out of the deal. I was not impressed. They really should go over this with you before you start. Probably won't be recommending this place read more

I absolutely love pottery painting. It's a great way to get the creativity going and it's a great stress reliever. However. I am not a fan of Pot-Luck Pottery. My boyfriend and I went in about three weeks ago and arrived at 7:30pm (the store closes at 9pm and they do recommend that you arrive at least an hour prior to closing). When we walked in, the girl working there said that she didn't expect anyone else to come in so she was firing all the pottery and that she didn't recommend us staying. An hour and a half before closing? We assured her that we weren't bothered by that fact and she seemed irritated that we wanted to stay. Now, as a side note, this place is VERY cluttered and disorganized. The selection of paint colors and stencils are very limited and a lot of the stamps/stencils are broken. We picked out two small bowls, since we knew we would be pressed for time a little and began our painting. The girl came over a few times to inspect how much paint we were putting into our trays and kept cautioning us not to use too much or to waste it and wanted to make sure we weren't putting more than three coats of paint on anything. I felt like I was being treated like a child. Once we finished (10 minutes before closing), she went over and once again inspected our paint trays and said that she had warned us about using too much paint and now she would have to scrape it out and put it back into the paint bottles. (We really didn't overuse anything, but even if we had, we are the customers! We are paying you to use this paint!) Now, fast forward to when I went to pick up our pottery. It takes about nine days for them to fire up your items and have them available for pick up. When I arrived, there was no one in the store. I waited for ten minutes (yes, I promise, ten whole minutes) and no one came to greet me. I checked the bathroom, I checked the back room where the kiln is...no one was there. So, after getting frustrated, I went through all of the pottery they had stacked everywhere and found our two items and took them home. (they were pre-paid, don't worry). But, how easy would it be for me to take another customers piece home too? We won't be back. I felt it was very disorganized and the employee we dealt with was very rude. read more

A fabulous paint your own pottery place with great service and competitive prices. We were looking for a place to bring our kiddos to get their creative juices flowing (read - someplace they could make a mess that I wouldn't have to clean up). I called Pot-Luck to see if they had a group rate - which they did. I told the owner that Monday worked best for us - she told me that the shop is closed on Monday's but she'd call one of her workers to see if they could come in. She called me back and indeed she opened the shop just for our group! It was a decent sized group so it was probably worth it for her, but still, great customer service! Not only that - but we had a big group of pre-schoolers who were making me nervous the way they were touching the breakable stuff and sometimes running around like crazy children - but the staff member (I think the owner's daughter) was fantastic - not phased at all and super helpful and friendly. I love this place and we will be back for sure. read more

I wish I could give this place a negative rating cause I would. Bought a groupon for this place and my husband and daughter 9 year old just came back and they did NOT honor the groupon that they sold. It said ANY piece of ceramic. No $ amount was said. Then they tried to charge for the studio fee which was also included in the groupon. Then actually tried to charge sales tax. Which is also included. When we go get the pieces after they are fired they will probably try to charge for this to. Educate your staff, stand by YOUR groupon (obviously to get more customers) , and honor what your store has written for the coupon. There lots of options for entertainment and you have a choice. (The only thing I wish was that a quick rundown of the place was given to you when you sat down, they have so many cool option and it would help to know all of them ahead of time before you start your project.) Not only did my husband remember our anniversary, he looked on the internet to find the traditional present for 9 years was pottery! He took me to Pot Luck to pick out a piece of pottery, and we sat and painted it! The selection of pieces to paint was plentiful, and the options of paint colors, types, stencils, etc.. was abundant as well! I chose a tea pot, and it came out wonderful! Spending time in the studio was great, and the owner even played a little Modest Mouse for our enjoyment! She read us well, and was not pushy, or annoying; just perfectly helpful! WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!! A tip to these owners, as the shop was empty, is lower your prices. With the studio fee you are almost double your competition. (Arts on Fire). I ended up paying over $16 for a 2" finger bowl. They skimp on the paint, the equipment is severely dated, help non-existent. read more

My friend and I needed something to do during the day and we found this when we yelped a search for things to do. This place was fun! Lily was extremely helpful and kind! It was even BYOB if you wanted to have a couple of brews while painting. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are visiting from out of town and have no one to ship you back the item you painted. It is an 8 day turn around for them to glaze your pottery and you'll have to pick it up. Thankfully my friend lives in Denver and is willing to ship it back to me! read more

I love this place. I came here for a date and the lady working there was very nice and accommodating. There is a huge selection of pottery to paint and they aren't stingy on the paint or paint brushes. My wife used like 40 paint brushes and probably a gallon of paint but it didn't matter. After being at franchised name studios i lived near this studio and walked in one day . The owner was there and was very nice and accommodating she had plenty of items to paint and items the other studios didn't have. I returned several times and now im often in their on a weekly basis when there is a problem a solution is sought and it remains very professional. I wish I could work there its so peaceful . I high recommend this place for parties and for dates and for family quality time its very nice setting , small but quaint you hardly notice the other people everyone including the customers are down to earth. We had a Groupon to use and the staff wouldn't honor the Groupon. We went today (8/8) to use it, as it expires on 8/13 and they wouldn't allow us to use it. The staff stated that her "boss would be mad" and that she was unaware of any Groupons being available. She texted and called the owner and so did we. No answer. Ended up paying for the session since both my kids wanted to paint (which is why I bought it for a Painting Session for 2). Ended up paying and I will not be returning. We had to share our table with a pile of boxes so only 3 of us could sit there-while we had a party of 4. I recommend that people not buy a Groupon (or any deal for that matter with Pot-Luck) and will advise my family and friends not to patronize this business. read more

I loved this place! It was our first time doing pottery painting and the owner was so helpful, and she was also so kind and patient with my 3-year-old boy that I had to take with me. We all had a great time! When I left the kids were already asking to go back another day. It is a cozy store with lots of options. read more
