I want to give a huge shout out to Potbelly in Algonquin on Randall road.  Yesterday I was having a very chaotic day  and accidently ordered thru the app from the wrong location. I posted in a local chat group that it was available for someone to pick up so it wouldn't go to waste. Shortly thereafter I got a reply from the general manager that he was not only refunding my money,  but thanking me for thinking of others!  So very kind and really unexpected! I will NEVER come here again. If you are looking for a hot sandwich you won't get it here. This is second time I have gone to this location getting grilled chicken and cheddar and the chicken is literally ice cold. Not even luke warm it's disgusting. Wanted to update here since I see alot of these reviews received the same links by the restaurant to fill out to get more information. Don't do it. It's a big waste of time. It's been a week since I've filled it out and got a response two days ago asking if customer service was about to resolve my issues. They did not. Love potbelly's but...Ordered a white bread wreck online with lettuce, onion, hot peppers, and Italian seasoning and oil and received a disgusting pile of cucumbers, tomatoes, red peppers, and some sort of orange sauce that tasted like it had lime in it on whole grain. Went the night before Christmas eve, around like 8pm. The blonde girl attending us had a miserable look on her face and we tried to be as nice as possible. I'm a server at Cooper's Hawk and I get it, the last hour of the shift is always the worst. But the moment I saw her, I knew my sandwich was not going to be up to par. There is no meat on this sandwich. It's all bread. This is not a wreck lol, I'm sorry to say. I'm very surprised because the gentlemen who typically are attending the line are very generous and I've never had a problem with my orders up until today. We even tipped her. I've always loved Potbelly, but I will not be returning to this location. I arrived with only five people ahead of me, yet it took 30 minutes to get my sandwich. The staff was prioritizing online orders over guests who were physically in the store, leaving everyone waiting. Other locations that I frequent such as Deer Park normally have 3 times the crowd and I am on my way in 5-10 minutes. While waiting, I suggested to the General Manager, Ralph Sesko, that they should not prioritize online orders ahead of in-store patrons. His response was dismissive--he claimed the online orders had been placed earlier and offered no accountability for the poor experience. This isn't the first time I've witnessed poor management here. On another visit, the GM was speaking rudely to his employees in front of other guests--clearly a pattern of unprofessional behavior. Potbelly is a great brand, but this location fails to live up to it. Very disappointing. read more

We stopped by here because we were given a card by a friend for a free entree. I have never been to a Potbelly's so I loved the interior decoration with the old stove - learned via their menu that they started as an antique store which turned into a sandwich making place - loved the unique start. We got chips and two sandwiches, since we got free sandwich, my one chicken club sandwich in original size with two chips came out to around $14. The staff were friendly and quick. Although a bit more expensive compared to other sandwich places in the area, the food quality was great and the sandwich was delicious. I was surprised by the size of the sandwich and I could split it over two meals for myself. So based on that it can be great deal for some people. read more

Two stars, food was great, customer experience was not. Have gone to corporate, filled out the form online, have called three times and left the required information, it's been 10 days, and - nothing. The message should say, "If you'd like to be contacted, too damn bad- we don't care. Thanks'" My niece and I were out on a weekend, and she wanted a club sub. Siri suggested Potbelly's. We walk in, and it's incredibly hot. It was a sunny day, and the have a large bank of south-facing windows, the shades are ineffective. We went to where the sign said "order here", and waited. And waited. And waited. There were two people behind the counter, no greeting, no "I'll be right with you", no acknowledgment at all. I would estimate we stood there for 2-3 minutes, never once looked at us. We moved down the line, picked out a couple of bags of chips and returned to the order counter. Same employees, same experience. Ignored. Being our first time to Potbelly's, we assumed you must order at the register, and move down behind that group. A couple of minutes later, my niece pointed out they were taking orders where we had been standing. We went to the end of the line behind the 3 groups of people that had arrived after us. After we ordered, we moved to the next station, where you select your condiments and additions to the sandwich. Reading from the board on the wall, I asked for deli mustard and onions for my cubano. Young man behind the counter says "we don't have that". You don't have what? "Yellow mustard". I didn't ask for yellow mustard, I asked for deli mustard, and pointed at the sign. "Oh, I thought you said yellow mustard. Deli mustard, anything else?" He was unable to retain "onions" for the 10 seconds we had been speaking. We moved to the checkout and was having difficulty with the tap to pay (recent eye surgery). The older man at the checkout was rambling on about something. I couldn't find a "no tip" option, and said won't be coming back here". The man said "I was trying to tell you that your total had dropped but you don't care about that". I just was to pay for my food and eat. I asked for a receipt, because I intended to contact the corporate office. I was told "not now, can't do it now". I asked for something with the store number or a corporate number and he says "I'm the general manager". Great. I'm going to complain ABOUT you TO you. I'm sure you'll jump right in my complaint. I said "I would appreciate if you would let ME determine what is important to ME". He responds with "YOU ATTACKED ME FIRST!" I have worked in fast food, I have been a server, I have tended bar. I was pleasant and attentive to my customers, and I regularly tip 30%. I have never been spoken to time this @general manager" spoke to me, and I had never spoken to a customer in that manner. Add in the fact that corporate apparently not care less, very poor experience overall. My niece remarked later in the day "everywhere we went today people were nice and you always said 'thanks for your help', why was that man so rude?". Sorry, kid, I can't answer that. Dude could have walked over to our table and said"hey, sorry we got off on a bad foot, let's start over." and he'd had a customer for life. I normally don't come here. It's just not a chain that I've built loyalty to. That said, I got a $100 Potbelly gift card, so for the duration of the $100 plus member benefits, I came to frequent Potbelly locations close to where I live and work. From a food standpoint, the sandwiches are great. Overall, they are expensive and not a value-buy, but the quality is high and having the sandwiches toasted really punches up the flavors. I'm a big fan of the A-Wreck, but I also love the meatball. The absolute best thing on the menu is the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. I like getting the bag of minis because I crave these things daily. This location in particular was a good place to dine-in, because it just never seemed to be full. Ordered take-out several times here. My daughter is a big fan. I can either take or leave the sandwiches as they don't necessarily impress me, but they do have some pretty tasty soups. Order accuracy has been good, which seems to be a problem across the food industry. Shouldn't have to worry that your take-out order is missing something, or has something prepared incorrectly, but that happens so frequently that it's worth mentioning that this store seems to have realized the worth in checking & double checking orders are going out correctly. read more

I have always been a huge fan of Potbelly, so this review may be a tad biased. They're my favorite sandwich shop. The quality of the bread, meat, and cheese is miles above the competition. Plus, you can have the sub toasted, which is how it's intended to be. I typically order "The Wreck" or "The Italian". I like to pair a sandwich with soup, so I usually do the Skinny Sandwich and Soup Combo. Pair it with a drink and chips and it's a filling lunch. I absolutely love their Brocolli Cheddar Soup. However, lately the soup has been VERY thick. I'm not sure if it's a prep issue or if the product/recipe changed. I hope they correct this! I also have a major sweet tooth. They never disappoint. My favorite is the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie or the brownie cookie. Both are HUGE and super soft and moist. If you're a fan of fresh made, toasty subs - be sure to check them out! I really don't know why but the last 2 Wreck sandwiches I have had made me sick for 2 days each. I had one about 4 weeks ago and another like 4 days ago trying it again... Both made me sick in about 6 hours and lasted for 2 days. Ive never had issues here. Been eating at PotBellys for years and always the Wreck sandwhich, never had anything else actually... but now twice I've got heavily sick. Probably wont be going back for a long time. Words from the wife: baked potato soup was gross, liquid flavorless potato juice. Recipe has either been changed over the years to be "cost effective". Or whoever made that batch really messed it up. Very watery, not what is was a couple years ago (chunky creamy heaven). No complaints from the husband, me. Had the mammas meat ball sub, it was fantastic, and the chicken pot pie soup is really good also. My kid did not like the grilled cheese at all (but hey, it's a grilled cheese at a restaurant I guess). He loved the broccoli and cheddar soup, said it was really good. My youngest son liked it (17 month old) he stood on the benches and tried to run up and down the restaurant. We would go back. But fix your potato soup for god sakes, it was horrible. read more

Service can be a little slow at times, but the food is almost always tasty. I would avoid this place during peak times, because it's not the largest of Potbelly's around. It can get loud and lines can get long. However, the food is usually made just as I would like! (It helps that you're literally standing there while they make it.) I would recommend a regular italian on white. It's my go-to while at Potbelly's! The rewards program currently utilizes and app. I'm not crazy about needing another app on my phone, so based on the incentives, it's not worth me using it. That, of course, is a corporate thing, so I can't fault this location for that. Overall, this Potbelly's is a fine example of this chain restaurant. Love potbelly but team members need to understand every customer isn't going to tip on top of the total for a carry out order. After a purchase of $6.38 for a shake and pickle I was asked to tip on the prompt. I hit no tip ad you are paid hourly. A team member looked at me and said "thank you for the tip it means a lot". I'm sorry but what am I supposed to be tipping you for you didn't even make the shake. Rude comments to customers like that is a reason to not have repeating buisness. read more

The most disappointing thing to do is write a worse review for a restaurant you've given a bad review for about hoping that a couple of years would be exactly what's needed to get their act together. In a word, NOPE! Since we're still in the midst of this "new normal" the economy is circling the drain and a record number of Americans are unemployed, I've tried to help local businesses where I can. Potbelly was one of those local businesses as they are based in Chicago and was fearing they would have to close 100 stores over COVID-19. Potbelly has an app where you order your food online, they only allow like 2-4 orders every 15 minutes, it's not like its a bustling location like it was in the past, you pay on the app, the receipt has exactly what your order is, and you pick up orders from a little cubbie hole near the front door. THEY STILL MESSED UP THE ORDER! I'm glad needed to eat when I did, otherwise, I would have driven off with a salad, WITHOUT salad dressing. The assistant-manager said she would deliver the dressing, but that's not the point! My past review pointed out that you have to tell your order to three separate people and they were still getting orders wrong, now there are only two people working there, and the orders are printed out and they still messed up the order. Now I am not proud that I blew up at the manager, but the offer of a cookie did not help defuse the situation, the refund of the meal did not help, the only thing that would really help at this point looking at the reviews since I first reviewed this store compared to now is to close this location down. Potbelly's has lost my business for good, and now more than ever, why vote with your pocketbooks with a company that fails as much as this and still doesn't want to improve? Staff laughed at the fact they left out parts of my order and then gave fake manager names until I spoke to the real manager. Arrived at Potbelly's on a Tuesday night at dinnertime. There wasn't a long line and there were several tables empty, which was good because we had a larger group (9 people, including some kids). I can't remember what everyone ordered but every single sandwich was eaten. I had the tuna and it was fantastic... perfect tuna to mayo ratio, perfectly toasted, cheesy goodness. Marissa is incredible. For our office luncheon, I was instructed to use leftover gift cards -- 12 of them, to be precise. I knew this was going to be a pain in the butt for the store, so I called and spoke with Marissa. She assured me that she would handle the situation personally. Our order was scheduled to be delivered at 11:30 and it was on time and delicious. Marissa said that she would not be in the store until 3pm, at which time she would handle the payment methods. I got a call from her at 6:48pm letting me know that she was having difficulties, but that she would figure it out. 30 minutes later, she called back to let me know that the situation was resolved. Marissa went out of her way to make sure that our experience was exactly what we needed it to be. She never made me feel bad about using all the Visa gift cards and she deserves a raise. I wish there a zero. SOOO filthy!!! There is greasy dust and inch thick at least, on all the decorations they have. I mean years of not cleaning. Its been almost a year since ive had potbelly. Walked up here the other afternoon to get a sandwich. One girl was at load getting whooped and she kept yelling i need some one to dress. Finally someone came out and helped. I got up to load ordered a wreck with bacon and ranch instead of cheese. Told her put the ranch on before you send it thru. Got everything no tomato. Walked in and immediately got bad looks from all 3 of the workers. They looked at me as if they were annoyed another customer came in and like i was walking in while they were trying to close. I wasnt by the way it was 12. As i made my way over to order my sub i was greeted with "be with you in a minute" then she started to talk to the other employee almost whining actually about why she wasnt up there helping... Then she asked for my order and i told her. she said toppings you get at the next station. okay great so i move down waiting, waiting, waiting while the other two workers are maybe working an online order. another employee walks up asks what i wanted toppings wise and i told him to add ranch on my sandwich he said "its going to be on the side is that okay? idk why it has to be on the side but okay i guess. i was all done and went to pay. 1 sandwhich, 2 cookies, and 2 drinks $20!
