When Dr Gilbert moved from Montgomery Village to the Darnestown area, there was no doubt that I would follow him despite it being a bit of a drive. He has referred me to great specialists (endodontists, orthodontists). They get you prepped up and keep nice and calm. I don't anxiety when seeing Doctors, but they talk your through it and I bet would keep you nice and calm if you did experience anxiety or fear. They pre-numb you with plenty of gel. Then there's Dr injects you with enough to ensure you're not even remotely uncomfortable during the procedure. Dr. Boquel kept pausing during the lidocaine injections, to ensure I was ok. I have a high pain threshold, but I didn't have any pain at all. I told him I can tolerate a bit of pain, and he was reassuring me saying that He doesn't want me to have any pain at all. I guess other previous surgeons were cheaping out on the lidocaine. This place prioritizes your comfort, and I REALLY appreciate that. Just because someone can take a little pain doesn't mean they should have to. It's the next day after getting HUGE implant screwed into my skull, and I'm feeling no pain. And I literally mean screwed. He was using a little socket wrench tool to screw this thing in. I felt like a car engine being worked on. But seriously, I'm not in any pain. I thought I would need some really good pain killers like oxy; like what you get after an extraction. But no. They prescribe only 600 of ibuprofen, and I only took 2 of those so far. 1 soon as I got home, and 1 right before bed. I don't even think I'll need them at all today. Dr. Boquel has the magic touch!

I should say, the reception staff is great. They were helpful and accomodating, assisting me in getting an appointment the same day for both a cleaning and booking additional time if any other services were needed. However, that is where the positive experience ended. The hygienist who handled the cleaning was rude, condescending and disorganized. I spent a total of 45 minutes back in the chair, of which a total of 6 minutes was spent on the cleaning. The remaining time, the hygienist was walking in and out of the room, trying to make their equipment work, and making snide remarks. When the dentist arrived for an evaluation, it was not much better. He and the hygienist argued about what equipment should be used, what equipment was available. The dentist barely did a clinical exam, instead relying almost entirely on x-rays they took. Further, although I had booked time to resolve any issues he found, he said he would rather wait to clean some cavities he identified without providing any reason why it would be in my interest. In the end, I appreciated the office's ability to get me an appointment quickly, but the attitude and treatment I received was woefully subpar. I will not be returning to this office.

I've been to Dr Hu now for multiple routine dental cleanings as of now. The office space itself is quite conscious of COVID19 precautions, including plexiglass between front desk staff and patients, they have signage that allows for patrons to wait in their cars and the staff will contact you of when to come inside, they place chairs facing in alternate directions for social distancing, everyone wears masks and providers wear face shields. They also provide you with sunglasses when you are sitting in the dental chair to shield your eyes from that bright overhead light. Although at times with some of the hygienists, they can be quite rough when flossing, I think overall they are quite thorough. The front desk staff are quite kind, they know you by name as soon as you enter and are able to help fit you into a busy schedule. Dr Hu I think is a reliable and respectable provider. I received an antibiotic injection for an inflammed gum. I at first wasn't too sure whether I would receive it, but she explained if I were part of her family she would recommend it just the same. She explained risk/benefits/out of pocket payment up front. She explained contingency planning with future return precautions, potential referrals and follow-up visit planning. On a subsequent visit, I had an X-ray completed and she explained in-detail what I was looking at, what she was concerned about, what was reassuring, etc. Tips/Takeaways: -They take COVID19 safety precautions seriously -From the front desk staff to hygienists to providers, they are up front about bills, they know you, well, they explain risk/benefit/payments -Would highly recommend Dr Hu!

Exam and x-rays showed perfectly healthy teeth. I then showed him a recent exam I received from a dental practice that showed 3 cavities. I didn't trust them at all as they were super sketchy and I'd never had a cavity before. He confirmed my suspicion that their exam was phony. He described his philosophy as conservative. So if he saw something of concern on a tooth, he would recommend treatment. He reexamined the three teeth the other dentist had noted as having cavities and found nothing.
