I really appreciate the way you can schedule a cleaning online, and get an estimate of what it will cost, how many people will come, and how long it will take. It made it so easy to put it on my schedule. I really appreciate that their maids have only 2-3 houses assigned to them per day; you can tell it makes them able to focus on all of the details of each cleaning. My house hadn't been cleaned in quite some time, so the crew stayed longer than the estimate, and I was billed a flat rate for their additional time--which I knew and expected ahead of time. Maria and Lichi did a fantastic job. I just moved into a home that was supposedly deep cleaned prior to move in, but I was skeptical. So I sought my own solution and they did not disappoint. On time, friendly and hard working, they made this old actually finally feel like a new home to me. Just wanted to provide a quick update that four years later I'm still using Potomac Maids and I am still impressed with their work. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic I was nervous about whether I should continue the services. I realize now that I shouldn't have been nervous because they are diligent about wearing masks and gloves, and I actually feel safer because I know they are doing a deep clean of all of the surfaces in our home. I had been looking into getting my apartment professionally cleaned for a long time, but the terrifying reviews of places offering Groupons had scared me off. I finally decided to give Potomac Maids a try, because their full-price service seemed pretty reasonable, they had online scheduling, and their Yelp reviews were great. I couldn't be happier. I set up cleaning for a Saturday a few weeks out, and someone contacted me within 24 hours to confirm the time. The price to send two people to clean a 2 bed/2 bath apartment for a one-time cleaning of up to three hours was $169. I thought the "up to 3 hours" was a scam and that they would take less time than that, because my place wasn't too dirty to begin with, but they worked the ENTIRE time and found things to clean that I didn't even realize could be cleaned. They brought all their own supplies, which is a huge plus for me, since I don't think I even own all the supplies needed for a thorough deep clean. They were really good, so much that I'm considering scheduling a regular cleaning. I was really kind of blown away by their honesty and transparency as well. The final price was exactly what they had listed online for the exact amount of time. At the end, as I was about to give them their tip, one of the guys apologized profusely because he thought he had accidentally broken a piece of artwork while cleaning near it. He showed it to me and again said he was so, so sorry. I assured him that this carving was already broken before he came, and that it definitely was not his fault, but I so appreciated that he felt the need to bring it to my attention. That kind of honesty was the icing on the cake for me, and I'll definitely use Potomac Maids again. read more

WOW - I didn't know my home was so dirty until Potomac Cleaners passed through here! They cleaned all the places that I've either been too lazy to clean or never even thought to clean in the 5 years since we've moved in. Some examples of the fantastic job they did: -Moving (lighter) furniture to vacuum and clean the corners behind the furniture -Cleaning the window blinds -Cleaning the light fixtures and fans -Cleaning the white molding/trim where the wall meets the floor -Cleaning inside the oven and my stovetop (not exaggerating when I say it looks brand new now) -Vacuuming the couch cushions -Using dusters with extensions to reach those cobwebs stuck in the ceiling corners Now I am a very neat person, as in I like everything to be in its place. But it wasn't until Flora and Iris passed through here that I realized this is very different from being a clean person. It took 7 hours for these 2 hardworking women to clean our 2150 square foot townhome (4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 4.5 levels). Imagine how clean your house would be if you spent 14 hours cleaning it when it was already tidy. Yea - that's how it looks right now! I feel like my home is a hotel because it's just that clean. My family recently purchased a home that used to be a rental property. After getting some renovations done, we wanted a good thorough cleaning before moving in. I was able to schedule an appointment with Potomac Maids quickly and they showed up on time in the afternoon. They spent 7 hours cleaning our 1400 sq/ft home! They dusted and cleaned all our windows and blinds, which looked like they hadn't been touched in years. They also wiped all the ceiling fans and our air vents, which had noticeable dust. The guest bathroom tub was in particular need of a good cleaning. After they were done, it looked like it was brand new! The kitchen was another place in need of heavy work. The fridge had a nasty odor left from the previous residents. They took out and cleaned all the shelves as well as the inside of the fridge. When they were done, there it was sparkling clean and smelled fresh! Potomac Maids did such a wonderful job and exceeded all my expectations! It was my first to home cleaning so I followed yelp to find Potomac maids. The online reservation and estimate is very easy and convenient. I scheduled a time on the inauguration day and received confirmation email the day before the service. Two ladies showed up within the two hours window and began working promptly. I think they took a little more than three hours to clean my semi-detached house, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. No extra charges was asked, which was nice. The two ladies did a good job in cleaning the house, especially the floor, the kitchen, and the bathrooms. Everything looks shiny and relatively new. In particular they cleaned out the stinky oily oven and range hood. They even made my beds and put every cookeries in order. Yet I found they missed (or intentionally skipped) some spots: lightshades in the bathroom, some windows frames, some blinds, and the ceiling fans, they didn't touch them at all. The oil fumes on top of the refrigerator was not cleaned either. To me it is a mixed experience when you see they cleaned the kitchen and bathroom so well then you can't help noticing some apparent spots are still dusty. read more

I based my hiring of Potomac Maids on Yelp reviews, and I was stunned by the contrast between what I experienced and the below reviews. Apparently I just got a rogue cleaner, I don't know, but I contacted the owner following a less than adequate job and they remedied fix the problem. I hired Potomac Maids to clean my 2BR 1 BA house. After being contacted and agreeing to a rate of $169 I accepted because they indicated the cleaner would be there all day, and set up a date. The cleaner (one) spent less than 3 hours and neither completed cleaning the house nor conducted a deep cleaning on the areas covered. I'm not a cheapskate looking to exploit people and don't mind paying a premium for great service, HOWEVER, $169 is very high to pay for the service of ONE person for less than THREE hours of work. I have since contacted them and the owner of the business was horrified at the level of service provided and refunded the money. So I am amending this review to reflect their addressing of this issue. read more

They work from the top down, and if time allows, fold any clean laundry, make our bed the "fancy" way, and clean our windows! 3. Our bathrooms sparkle (the hard to clean shower door is spotless). 4. We have a hardwood flooring throughout - it is always clean as a whistle when they leave. Not a hair in sight (and I have a TON of hair). 5. The oven, refrigerator, and microwave are spotless. I'm struggling between 3 and 4 stars on this one. The booking process was easy to do online, and then I got an email confirmation. I was having my new apartment cleaned because the previous tenant did not do a very good job. I asked for them to call my cell so I would be available to let them in which I was told would not be a problem. I booked a few weeks in advance for an arrival time between 1-3. The day arrives, and it's 3pm and no phone call, so I called them, and a gentleman told me he would call me back. Wait about 15-20 minutes and he calls back and says they would be there in 45 minutes. It actually took at least another hour. No explanation or apology was really offered, and I still paid full price. This whole thing ended up taking a big chunk out of my day which was very frustrating. I will say the two ladies who came did a great job, so this review is not really a reflection on the actual cleaning. I was ready to hire them on a regular basis, but for the price I shouldn't be waiting around for people to show up well past the appointed time, without someone reaching out to let me know there is a delay. UPDATE: Someone reached out to me and apologized and said they will give me a refund, which I do appreciate so I will perhaps not write this business off if I need a cleaning service in the future. read more

We were looking for a cleaning service to clean our newly purchased condo before we move in. Like some others, I first had hoped to score a good deal via one of the many daily deal sites. But they either didn't offer the deal towards a move in/move out service or the Yelp reviews weren't enticing. So just going by Yelp reviews, I selected Potomac Maids. A few emails back and forth to give some specific concerns or ask questions and all was set. We stopped by the condo that evening and we were so impressed! A little info - the condo is a 2-story corner unit with floor to ceiling windows wrapping around 2 entire sides on each floor. Yes, they cleaned all the windows, inside and out! I mean, sure, you might figure windows are included - but we have so many I guess I just didn't expect anyone to tackle them like that. Of course, the remainder of the place was spotless and sparkling - inside oven, top of stove, in side fridge/freezer and all cabinets, bathrooms, all floors. Just lovely! I moved into my apartment a few months ago, taking over another tenant's lease, and had been wanting to get a deep clean of my bathroom and bedroom for a while now. I'm a tidy person and maintenance cleans are easy to do myself, but some things needed special attention (i.e. the tub in the bathroom and baseboards of my bedroom). Potomac Maids made both rooms look spotless and like new. The smell was fresh - not chemical infused! Coordinating the cleaning was simple with their online scheduling functionality. One of the managers, Vaidas, contacted me soon after to confirm and provide a price quote after I filled out the reservation and submitted it online. I had one of my roommates who is student meet the cleaners when they arrived (since leaving work was not an option for me) and it all went smoothly.
