The staff was nice and knowledgeable. The veterinarian at the clinic was personable and answered all of my questions. We were looking for a new vet so this may be our new home. I don't prefer this clinic over the other local ones but they do have more flexibility with their schedule // walk ins (they charge extra if you don't have an appointment). My first few times, I didn't feel like the vets were compassionate or thorough but this past week I appreciated the doctor that helped us. She was so sweet! Unfortunately after a hefty bill ($600+), we didn't find out what was wrong with my pup. The office manager gets like a 2/5. We took our Lola (dog princess) to this place a year ago depending on their professional knowledge. We were proscribed 2 medications for her & sent home. Her health became worst. We then took Lola to a veterinary hospital on Bandera road. Multiple tests were performed where we were then immediately referred to the Stone Oak emergency hospital for her. After many additional tests there & huge weight on our hearts, we had to send her to the Lord. This may not have had to happen if treatment began sooner... I used this clinic for several years but then I moved to Puerto Rico in 2021. Now, April 2023, I'm back in town and I took my Frenchie in for annual exams. The clinic no longer sells heartgard so I went online to order some from Chewy. Chewy contacted the clinic for a prescription and the clinic declined to send one. I went to the clinic to ask for a prescription so that I could mail it to Chewy and I was told the Dr will only provide a prescription if you buy it from Vetsource online. So the Dr doesn't sell it and refuses to give a prescription unless you buy it from a specific place???????? I'm going to find a new vet clinic for my dog. read more

JUST an FYI ! They will call EARLY the day before your appointment at 7:30 am to confirm and if you don't call back by noon that same day they will give your slot to someone else. A two week check up turned into a 1.5 month check because of rescheduling. Grace did offer a next day appointment but It doesn't work out that way with my work schedule. I have to plan two weeks ahead. Grace ended up changing the appointment name from "Two week check-up" to "Wellness check" because of the rescheduling. The veterinarians there are great though!! I just wanted to let everyone know their scheduling process because if your a busy person like me it's hard to call back! Was so grateful that they were able to see my Molly same day. I had no luck with my regular vet. It was a Monday and I had been worried about my dog all weekend. The staff was caring, compassionate and took the time to listen. They saw her and treated her well within an hour. Amazing. I never thought I'd write this, but I haven't had the greatest experience with this clinic since I took my new puppy in. The tech that helped us out looked like she didn't wanna be there at all, no energy, no smiles, nothing. The veterinarian working that day was awful, made us feel like what we were doing for our puppy was not good at all. She gave us a flea/tick preventative that was meant for 8 weeks and up, and told us we were good to use it and the reason why they put that on the label is because the company makes you "pay extra" for the label or something along those lines. I'm the pet parent that reads labels and does their appropriate research before administering something and as someone who's worked in the vet world, I was in shock when I was given that medication. When we were out to schedule her booster, they scheduled us 4 weeks apart when the "reminder" was set for the end of September. Of course the only nice thing I have to say is the fecal analyzer they have (+1 star for that). But it's a pain if you need to recheck your dog's fecal! They don't open until 9am, which is mind blowing. All vets I've gone in the past are open starting at 7 or 8am, so if you have a morning pooper, you are gonna have to wait until they open to drop off the poop sample. They also are closed from 12-1pm, which also makes it very complicated in case you need to come home for lunch and walk your dog, now you have to wait for them. I didn't get results from my dog's fecals (both the first run and the recheck) until after 6pm when I can't pick up meds or do anything about it. It's been nothing but a nightmare, it's not worth the 25min drive for us anymore. This place used to be good years ago, it's sad to see it declining so much. We will be giving our business to another clinic. read more

Terrible at customer service! Tried to set up an appointment for my dog. Phone kept ringing and ringing for 30 minutes. I called them three times and finally on the fourth call someone answers it with "hello". Hello what? Who am I speaking with? Anyways, tried to get an appointment and was told they were fully booked. Okay. I then asked well is it possible to do a walk in as their current website page states "WE ARE CURRENTLY TAKING WALK INS". The woman on the phone tells me no. That if I want a walk in , I should go to an animal hospital. WOW. This isn't an emergency so no I won't be going to a hospital. My girlfriend called today because our dog has anxiety and his medication wasn't working. We are going on a trip soon and need to board him so we wanted to see if there was another medication to help calm him while we are gone. We were asked why we're trying to sedate our dog (we're not we just don't want him to stress too hard) and then the veterinarian said we need to stop shopping around other vets and only stick with them. We have only taken our dog to one other vet to get a shot. They were extremely unprofessional and very condescending. We will not be returning to this vet. read more

I took my American staff here a couple weeks ago because she had an UTI. The vets were very nice and welcoming. They even got down on the floor to play with my dog to make sure she was feeling comfortable. They prescribed me antibiotics for my dog to take for 10 days and after 3 days she was already doing better. The medicine prescribed also helped with her skin infection and hair growth. The only reason I rated them a 4 is because the building looks old and outdated with stains on the ceilings and floors. read more

I've already spoke to to the office manager, but also wanted to let anyone looking for a vet clinic know - this may not be the place for you. We brought our puppy for his second set of shots and it involved someone in scrubs coming up to our puppy, unclipping his leash, and without introduction or explanation picking him up and heading towards the back of their clinic. If I was a first time owner and had questions I would not have had the opportunity to ask any. To say I was surprised is an understatement. When I told the receptionist we would not be returning I was met with a blank stare and a condescending "that's fine." I wonder if this is a common occurrence? Veterinary clinics should be places of trust and information. I was happy to give a small, two room place a try, but we will not be returning. I took my cat there because she had an ear infection. I was given multiple medications and instructions on how to give them to her. One of the medications I was not given enough of to last the duration she is suppose to have it. I called and asked about this and was told there was more than plenty in the bottle and I must be giving the wrong dose to her. 0.75 mLs twice daily is pretty easy to understand. Why would I want to give my pet more than what is needed? I was given the option to come in and show them the amount I am giving my cat and then PAY for more medication just to be seen in a couple days to pay for her follow up appointment. Very disappointed with Dr. Redmond, DVM rapport with me as a pet owner. Dr. Redmond stated she's the pets' advocate and will always treat the pet(s) as she judges to be best for the pet. Dr. Redmond will not yield on this stance because she feels it would compromise her (Dr. Redmond) ethics. I have an older dog who has some pain from arthritis. Dr. Redmond started the dog out on NSAID at a reasonable dose twice a day. My dog was sleeping much better and acting better. After a blood test showing a slight increase in ALT she told me the medication had to be cut in half because of possible liver damage over the long run. My input was give me "quality" of life. This used to be a very affordable place, but I took my Dads Chihuahua there today for his annual check up and the bill was $234.00!! He already had a 3 year rabies vaccine last year and so all he really needed was his booster shot and heartworm meds and his nails clipped. My Dad has taken him here for a few years, so this is his regular clinic. It took 3 people to look at the computer screen to figure out the bill. I was so frustrated when I left. She became very ill with the meds. I called and They told me to just monitor her and that she was probably allergic to grass. (Again no tests had been done) And no vet was available to speak to. And I was told I could wait til Tuesday to go to their ER, it was Saturday. I took my puppy to another vet,fecal test blood test Parvo test done. She had an infection. And ear mites. This clinic is close to home and the staff is caring toward animals. They board animals and have a fenced in play yard. But you can never simply get in and get out. And do not think you are going to be able to shop for medications. Either you buy it there or through the one website they give you, at a higher price than you can get elsewhere. It is my opinion that whomever is the manager, is running a strictly tight ship, getting maximum volume through the clinic, and probably some "finder's fee" from the online pharmacy. There are a lot of vet clinics out there and I do not like being told where I can and can not buy my pet meds. We have been going to Protranco Vet Clinic for many years, but we will not be going back. We are always current with our cats immunizations and we are there every six months for labs (he is diabetic). But this time, they threatened to withhold my cats insulin prescription until we had him seen. I explained that we were very low on insulin and even though we had a refill left, the prescription was expired. They said that they would approve the prescription, but not before they saw him. I explained that I would gladly schedule the appointment for another day if I could just get the prescription refilled. (Consider this...I have never been past due on vaccines or labs), but they wouldn't budge. They offered to see him if I could take him in immediately. I agreed, but explained to the desk clerk that I had another appointment and needed to leave by a certain time. She said it wouldn't take long. When we arrived, I reminded the clerk that I had to leave by a specific time. I waited nearly 30 minutes and my cat still hadn't been taken into the building. I called repeatedly to let them know that it was nearing the time for me to leave. On my final call, I told the desk clerk that I ran out of time and had to leave, then she sarcastically asked "what do you want me to do?" It was a terrible, terrible experience. We've been here at the vet since about 1:30 waiting for the nexguard and heart guard approval from the vet. The staff said the Vet was at lunch and it would take an hour!Its been almost FOUR!!! It's a gimmick. They insist we come in once a month to get the nexguard and heart guard. We had last minute jobs come up in Indiana and Wisconsin. We had to leave this afternoon. Instead of making it to Louisville KY today we'll be lucky if we make Dallas, TX. I'm switching to another vet I use to take my bird to when he was alive. I'll get his meds from my Pharmacist friend who also can order vet supplies. Her prices are less also. DOG is 8 lbs. same as he was last week, and the week before. This place has a packed tiny room with no room for the dogs to be safe from each other. The staff does nothing to help these poor parents. I won't be coming back here that's for sure. This is unacceptable! The stress this clinic has caused me is unreal. I can feel my pulse pounding in my head and neck just sitting here. The place was very clean and the people were very friendly. They explained everything they were doing and gave us the prescriptions they recommended, etc. Overall a good experience! There mistake cost us over $150.00. We took our dog to get her bloodwork done for her thiroyd which is done annually. They did her annual physical but didn't bother to do the bloodwork for her thyroid, they only did the bloodwork they needed for her heartworm check. Never once were we told it wasn't all completed until we had to refill her thyroid meds. When asked they said we declined the bloodwork her thyroid check which is what the original appointment was made for. read more

This is a nice clean friendly place. Not sure why the negative reviews. I just moved here and had to board my dog asap. They gave my dog his required shots and boarded him right away.
