Ran into this pottery while meandering in Moss Landing during a weekend. After watching the seals nearby, we decided to check this place out for some planters and home decor. They have an expansive collection of cute pots, outdoor wall decor, statues, etc. The people are very very friendly. While we were walking, our eyes fell on Buddha statue and we were pondering over whether we should buy it or not and the means of transporting the heavy stone statue. The people who work here, answered all our questions, doled out some cool garden decor ideas and showed other similar statues around. Ultimately we didn't end up making a purchase because we wanted to do some research before buying an expensive piece, but do plan to take a trip to Moss Landing if we decide to make a purchase. read more

FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES--Do not trust Bob, the owner! My family and I have been happily shopping at this location for over 20 years, and have never had a problem until now. On Wednesday, 12/15/2010, I called the Pot Shop about buying a fountain for my husband for Christmas, and spoke with Bob, the owner. I have never met Bob, personally. I drove that day from Carmel to Moss Landing to pick out the fountain and accessories. When I got here, Bob had already left for the day, so Paul (Bob's employee) helped me select the fountain and basin, and arrange for the 2-man delivery and set-up, which was scheduled for January 07, 2011. The total price for the fountain, basin, pump, and delivery was $749.63, which I paid with a credit card. Paul and Bob suggested that I take photos of the fountain, then wrap the photos up in a box for my husband's Christmas present, which I did. On Friday, 12/17/2010, Paul called and left me a voice mail to give me the dimensions of the hole that needed to be dug for the basin, so that I would have everything prepped prior to the Jan. 07 delivery. Then, on Sunday, 12/19/2010, at about 11 am, I received another call from Paul who said that he "kind of blew it on the pricing" (according to his boss, Bob) and he wanted me to call him so that they could make some adjustments. I called Paul, and he told me that Bob said that if I want the fountain, they will have to charge me an additional $250 or so dollars. Then, at 1 pm, I received a voice mail from Bob saying that there had been a mix-up on the pricing for the fountain that they sold me, and he wanted to get it straightened out. Later that afternoon, I returned Bob's call, and the interaction was quite baffling. According to Bob, he does not have any obligation to honor the transaction that took place earlier in the week, and unless I wanted to make up the post-transactional difference, then I would not be able to get the fountain. He claimed that he was a direct importer, and the price I paid for the fountain was at "his cost," and that he was not going to sell me anything that was at "his cost." He also claimed that Paul sold me the wrong basin, and Bob was not going to "allow" me to buy that basin. There was no reasoning with Bob. His position was that his, and his employee's mistake with selling me something at a price that they later regretted, was my problem, and that it was up to me to fix their problem by giving them more money, post-purchase. Bob became more aggressive, as he tried bullying me into giving him more money. By the end of the call, Bob said that he was not going to sell me anything, and was refunding my credit card for the $749.63. Unbelievable!!! I am filing complaints with the BBB and the CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs. read more

Local Monterey paper indicates that this vendor is closing its doors, so I suggest you visit for some bargains and to help them out while they liquidate their inventory. "They have to sell off "40 truckloads" of merchandise by the end of the year... All merchandise is 35-percent off beginning Saturday, Oct. 7." read more

Many, many, many pots! Also many decorative statues. Decent prices. Very friendly staff! We were greeted multiple times. My mom had questions about a garden item and the staff member who helped us was very helpful, not pushy at all. read more

The amount of garden pottery available here is a little overwhelming. In a good way. If you need something pottery-wise for your garden and can't find it here, it might not exist. They also have an alarming amount of Talavera pottery. I'm honestly not pottery-savvy enough to know what the big deal is with Talavera, but I will say that I love Mexican pottery in general and walked out with some for my own yard when I visited Potstop. Staff was nice and available, but not annoying/hounding us while we wandered through the stacks of pots. Only complaint is that they seem a little bit on the pricey side--not crazy, but you can probably find a cheaper pot at Home Depot. You just won't find it in 30 different colors/shapes/sizes/decorations at Home Depot, and you will at Potstop. read more

Little Baja Pot Stop is owned by the same people that own Pottery Planet in Santa Cruz (see my review). Everything that is great about Pottery Planet is also great about Little Baja Pot Stop, although the Pot Stop has a bigger selection and also features some HUGE pots that could probably be legally classified as swimming pools. The only downsides are that it's a bit of a drive and kind of in the middle of nowhere (no offense to Moss Landing natives) and it's right next to Highway 1, so there is some traffic noise as you browse. Just like with Pottery Planet, once you see these beautiful pots, everything else you see at other places will be boring or ugly by comparison. read more

I went into the potstop on a sunday and found a huge collection of eletic pottery I spent a hundred dollars buying two items there was a nexican gentlemen who helped me and provided excellent customer service boxed wrapped items bought was friendly ...the following tuesday I went into the potstop and once more picked out two items that toatel over a hundred dollars one item had what looked like damage I pointed it out and a middle aged white lady who was helping me indignit like stated you probably did that for a discount I was so insulted she also did not bother to wrap or box items and she rudely demanded to yard employee to help me with items to car I felt bad for the employee .I drove a half hour from home to shop there I am gonna report this to owner and hear the response before I shop there again ...I am a tattoo artist I have lots of tattoos I almost felt this lady profiled me for my tattoos I was buying items for my shop read more

We were looking for pots for fountains. We had some idea as to what we wanted but with help of Bob, the owner of this place, our idea became a reality. Bob made sure he sent us pictures of various combinations and was always ready to experiment for us until he successfully installed the whole thing for us. His suggestions turned out to be wonderful. He patiently worked hard until everything was perfect and also assured to help us further if required. How many people today do that, once the sale is done? Paul, another associate there, is also a very wonderful and very supportive person. In fact we noticed that all the employees there are very courteous and helpful.
