Definitely better prices than the nurseries in Carmel Valley. This location is fairly small, so it may not have everything you are looking for, but it's worth giving them a call or stopping by to check. Note that they also grow the plants in their own nursery so it's not a matter of checking San Marcos growers or Monrovia to see if they can special order for you. Great for bulk delivery of soil, mulch, etc., and all the soil and compost I've gotten from them (probably 20+ cubic yards now) has been nice and clean, no weed seeds. Service can be a little hit or miss - most times it's great, but a couple of times I've had a guy at the desk who gave such minimal answers to my stock questions that I ended up coming back another time to ask someone else. read more

Service? Fabulous! I was looking around inside the store at 3 different types of orchid food. I was confused about the difference. Before I could turn around and look for help, I heard a voice behind me asking if I needed help! I asked my question, and then gave Jasmine my shopping list. She proceeded to load up a cart for me. She demonstrated good knowledge. Jasmine loaded up all of my purchases into my car cheerfully, carefully and efficiently. Selection? It was the week before Christmas. At that time of year, nurseries are reduced in inventory and are monochromatic in green. They didn't have any buddleia or lavatera, but that's to be expected! I bought 6 5-gallon purple Lantana at $28.99 each. They were healthy and robust plants. I'll be able to split each plant, and have double the effect! Value? Folks, this ain't Lowe's or Home Depot (or as I like to say The Despot). You are not going to get low, low prices. OTOH, you are going to get super healthy, quality plants. I was very pleased with my lantana purchase. I enjoyed my shopping experience. The nursery is clean and beautiful. I'll be back! read more

Excellent joint venture with the City of Seaside, to increase tree foliage through out the city. Residents could apply for free trees and fertilizer. I chose an orange tree and planted it in my vegetable box. My plum and lemon trees are already growing and producing fruit. Thank you!!! read more

bad experience with manager who acted like I was an imposition instead of a customer spending $337.50 on gravel. I'm about to re-landscape 1/4 acre and wanted to use local services. had to ask the manager to rewind and start over with me but it left a bad taste in my mouth. i would rather drive further to Griggs in Carmel Valley and also get what I need from Home Depot than be treated with disdain. more bad treatment: gravel delivery guy arrives and I politely ask him to move the truck over 6 inches to drop the gravel. he refuses. I say ok then put the gravel where you want to. he says: No, I'm leaving you can call the garden center. My neighbors were outside and were shocked with this poor service. to make matters worse: the manager says we will refund you the gravel but not the delivery fee of $60. so I'm paying to be insulted and paying $60 for delivery that didn't happen? . This is so not ok. the Home Depot garden center folks were much nicer and made my purchases a pleasure. I'm waiting on the owner to call me. read more

Seaside Garden often has plans that I can't find at other nurseries. In addition, Mr. Mori's garden services and landscaping are first rate. Even during the recent heavy rain, his gardeners tried to come, when possible, to fulfill their weekly garden care. Highly recommend! read more

Avoid! I came to Seaside garden center to get a bunch of rocks and other things to completely redo my yard. I provided Seaside Garden Center with very specific dimensions for how large the space was, how deep I wanted the rocks to go, how it was going to be installed, etc. They punched my dimensions into the computer and gave me a quote for the amount of materials I needed, which I purchased. Unfortunately, they quoted me for almost exactly double the amount that I actually needed. Now I have a huge excess of materials that I not only don't need, but now I have to get rid of, somehow. I understand that mistakes occasionally happen but this is going to cost me around $2,000. I have extra product that I bought unnecessarily and now I have to find and pay somebody to haul it away. I will absolutely never come back to the Seaside Garden Center. read more

I had to get some perlite for some plant soil and created my own mix, so I was forced to go to a local garden center. You know all in all they were pretty good they had exactly what I needed and some. I found some cool bonsai pots which I needed for some new carnivorous plants I have been growing. They ended up working out great and being around $10 a pot with tax. I thought the bag of perlite was a little expensive at $10 but they did have what I needed and it ended up working out nice. Unfortunately I thought they were a little priced with some items but have some great local cuttings and outdoor & indoor plants. read more

Love this place, staff are available and helpful. Also they stock Succulent Soil in large bags which is very hard to find. Spent over $1,000 here over past twelve months. New stuff arrives regularly and they have many items I have not seen anywhere else, and at attractive prices. This is my goto Nursery for outdoor and unique indoor. Watch your wallet. This place is notorious for bait and switch pricing. Plant marked at $19, charged $23. gopher baskets marked at $4/$5 on the shelf, charged $7. When requested to honor pricing, no luck so I returned $150 in items immediately and they didn't flinch to do the right thing. Decent prices but terrible customer service. Last visit charged me $10 for a $5 basket even after I told the person about my bad experience. After I got to my car and went back, they said whoops charged you for a 5g-2pack. Seriously - try Valley Hills in Carmel. Pricier but at least they are honest. Also - went to del Rey oaks, same owners and the manager there was yelling at one of the cashiers for honoring an incorrect quote for a recent customer. I was appalled. No attempt to be discreet - full on shaming. read more

Small, tidy, easy to navigate nursery with plenty of variety. You can quickly find the plants or tools you need. The plants are healthy and well maintained, and suited to the Monterey peninsula. There is a good selection of native plants as well as succulents. There is just enough inventory for a residential installation, just enough variety, and just enough parking, so that you can get in and out quickly. Plus they carry soil, mulch and rock that you can buy by the truckload. read more

wonderful wonderful place. plants, bushes and trees have great rooting developed. i have to find out the name of the helpful man who makes you feel comfortable, at the counter. i bought a beautiful loquat with years of growth more than a little plant from cypress garden and no more expensive than cypresses current 50% discount on their plants. i understand that cypress in downtown monterey where everything is expensive, but i love my loquat and going back today for some giant hopseed. dennis caeton=chan read more

I recently purchased three olive trees from Seaside Garden Center. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous and answered all of my questions. The pricing of the trees was far lower than most other garden shops I visited and the trees are very healthy. For a nominal fee they delivered the trees within an hour of my purchase. The delivery person was not only courteous and respectful but he brought extra mulch and fertizer packets for me at no charge. I am extremely happy with the service I received and my beautiful olive trees. I will definitely visit Seaside Garden Center for my future gardening needs. read more

They did a great job fixing my lawnmower. I knew just the carburetor needed to be cleaned. They did it for a good price. I would have left five stars but when I dropped the mower off they said they would call me in a couple days to give me an update just in case I needed to new carburetor. I didn't hear anything for eight days. It was ready for pick up when I called them on the eighth day though. read more
