If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I ordered a book bag for my son, and the embroidery arrived completely crooked. When I reached out to customer service, they suddenly claimed the bag was out of stock and said there was nothing they could do. I explained my concerns and asked for options, and at that point, they told me they would comp any replacement book bag, given the inconvenience. I was told to go ahead, choose a new one, and call back to process the exchange. But when I called back later that day, I was told I could only choose a book bag within $5 of the original price--completely contradicting what was promised. After a frustrating and lengthy conversation, they finally agreed to honor the original commitment. They had me place the new order and pay out of pocket, saying I would receive a $22.03 credit once I called back in 72 hours. But when I followed up after waiting, they changed the story again. Now they claimed that because the new backpack was on backorder for 6-8 weeks, I wouldn't get my refund until the item shipped. Funny how they had no issue charging my card right away, but can't refund a mistake they made. I have screenshots proving they lied and gave me conflicting information multiple times. We'll be canceling the order, and if that doesn't go through, we will dispute the charge with our credit card company. DO NOT order from this company. I've spent hours with customer service being passed around, misled, and ignored. This is the worst customer service experience I've ever had. Oh what fun it is to shop at PB for the holidays!!! This PB location has a great selection of holiday decorations that don't clash with existing everyday home furnishings. This location has a really friendly staff whom work together to help their customers. Being mindful that shipping delays have become a universal obstacle I ordered the monogrammed stockings months in advance (September.) Parking can be a nightmare!!! My wife and I ordered over $4000 worth of furniture from Pottery Barn and also signed up for the white glove delivery service. Our order required a certificate of insurance (COI) to be presented before the delivery to our co-op. This is a pretty standard request and other companies like Article will email you a COI in minutes. Then you don't have to worry about getting sued if something goes wrong (kinda important). Pottery Barn wouldn't provide this. Even though they claim they will provide a COI, after making 10 phone calls to customer service and a lot of runaround, and with them getting the email addresses all wrong, and outright lying to us about re-sending it to the correct addresses, they never provided a COI. We rescheduled our delivery by an extra week to accommodate them and their inability to email the COI to the correct addresses. We always got a different customer service rep and none of them helped. We will never buy anything from Pottery Barn again or Williams and Sonoma, their parent company. Once they have your money clearly their customer service doesn't care. Also, I'm willing to consider taking down this bad review if anybody from Pottery Barn can provide a copy of the COI valid for August 2024. Maybe they don't care or they just can't afford insurance. read more

I don't know how Pottery Barn has survived with their quality issues and lack of customer service. We bought expensive curtains from them that were much delayed in delivery times and absolutely poorly constructed. The length of each "108 inch" curtain is dramatically different - from 106" to 111". This makes them unusable without having a new hem sewn in on our end, which we are going to be forced to do. The blackout portion of the curtain is longer than the "visible" portion of the curtain on 4 of the 6 curtains. This was a disastrous purchase and Pottery Barn "support" is completely lacking. They say "pack them up and return them for a pre-paid credit card to be sent by mail." Yes, not by an account credit that we could use to repurchase the curtains immediately - but by mail! We will fix the curtains ourselves by taking them to a seamstress and we will never deal with Pottery Barn again. This review is our only recourse. read more

I ordered a swivel rocker recliner on Feb 10. It was supposed to be delivered in May. Then it was pushed back to June and we finally received the chair in July. The delivery was two hours later than the scheduled time and when the chair was unboxed it was stained and dirty. Customer service said I could get $150 or they would send someone out to clean it. It is now August 10th and the chair has not been cleaned. They take your money and not deliver for months. If you try to cancel, they give you only partial refund. They will charge you 300+ USD for cancelling, saying they moved stuff between their warehouses on your behalf, so that cost is on you. Kept covered on our deck while we finished our house remodel. Uncovered it after 6 months of hardly any use, and one of the Torrey sofas had at least 9 BROKEN PIECES that were not there before. The other 3 pieces are OK, so clearly this 1 sofa was brittle to begin with?! Even though we kept them covered with expensive CUSTOM covers, PB, Williams-Sonoma B2B team said they will NOT honor the warranty because we didn't cover them with PB covers AND we didn't put the furniture indoors during the winter! WTH!! That is ridiculous, I live in California and we don't have "inclement" weather as they said. BOTTOM LINE: our Torrey Wicker Sofa lasted a few months before deteriorating, even though it was covered when not in use. Beware some items ship in small boxes and you will have to assemble them. If I wanted to "ikea" my furniture together I would have shopped there for a fraction of the price .... I was told one flat shipping fee but items will deliver some by truck some by UPS and so my first question was "will they come in pieces where I'll have to put them together ?"and the sales lady assured me " no they will be assembled when they arrive" . They were not. On the website it states the item description online will say if they need to assembled and this one did not . Deceiving practices here I would say. I am very upset at the principle of being lied to and the customer service I received. I didn't want to save the shipping by ups. I wanted my items delivered and assembled and I was flat lied to. Turns out it is not one flat shipping fee ... only certain items are but again it states on their website items will not have the white glove delivery in the shipping and delivery part ... this did. I got $60 back( or they said they will so we'll see). I wanted the entire shipping fee back out of principle not because of the amount. Obviously it won't make a difference. Good luck! When that happened, they delivered another broken piece and the driver said" we're going to take it back and fix it. It'll be quicker than sending it out again". Then nobody ever heard about it. Again. Nobody knew about my furniture return or that it got taken back. So basically 5 months later I had returned two pieces. Now the second piece isn't even here which I would have rather have used the broken piece but they insisted on taking it back. So if you want to get ripped off and spend months without furniture and then get crap broken furniture and spend tons of money go ahead. I had a bed frame delivered two weeks ago. The bed frame accomodates an adjustable base. Upon delivery, I asked the lead person to modify the base so it would fit deeper into the frame. He refused. Stated the base was too heavy and that he would build the frame around the base. After some back and forth, he decided to modify the base but told me he was doing me a favor since his delivery company did not require him to do anything with the base. Then he whined about how heavy the mattress was to move. Three guys on the truck! Delivery charge: $379.00. Pottery Barn's 'white glove' delivery service is a sham. I've never had a problem with R.C. Willey. Charge: $69.00 for the first delivery. After that, delivery is complimentary for the rest of the year. read more

Pottery Barn has TERRIBLE customer service, which only added insult to injury when I received a desk I ordered from them (well after the website said it would arrive), and it arrived incredibly damaged. After eventually getting them to process my return, and getting hung up on multiple times while explaining the issue, nobody has given me clear instructions on when this giant box will be removed from my tiny apartment. Even after multiple unanswered emails, and several rude phone calls. Here is the only email I received about the issue, and t makes no sense and is missing key information: "Your return is currently being processed. Thank you for scheduling the pickup of your item(s) between the hours of and" It's like they're trying to be incompetent! My emails and phone calls asking them to provide the missing date and time have been ignored and negated. Their lack of transparency and awful and rude customer service has made this return unnecessarily infuriating. I admittedly Karen-ed out and asked to complain to a manager (I know, I'm the worst) about how their piss poor communication has made an aggravating situation way worse, and Erica (the meanest CSR in North America) stobewalled me like I was asking for the nuclear codes. The Malibu FSC® Teak 75" Extending Dining Table Item #: 8770107 was easy to purchase and the delivery was very professional. The table was beautiful for two weeks while we waited to seal it per the directions. We used a good sealer followed those directions. Three days later, dark spots and a discolored grain began to appear. We have tried all the professional recommendations to clean it and not a single spot has disappeared. They seem to be coming from within the wood and will likely increase and look worse over time. I do not recommend risking a couple thousand dollars on their furniture. Returning it and losing around $500 for shipping is not a reasonable option. There is no way to leave a review, and I doubt seriously they have an employee who is a teak expert! I can't even find this situation on Google and it is NOT mold or mildew. If I can post the image, the lighter wood is due to the cleaning removing the sealer. Their attitude is absolutely wrong and ridiculous. They just lost our company's business. We waited 2 months for the Amara chiseled Marble table lamp, the large model. Once the lamp shade is mounted there is no room between the marble block and the lamp shade to squeeze in your hand to turn the switch on and off. Your hand ends up rubbing against the marble and knocks the lamp shade. This is a design error. Now if the lamp shade had been wider than the block the switch you could have reached the switch that is located in the inside of the lamp shade by the bulb. Do not shop for furniture here unless you are OK with waiting for the items forever (the estimated delivery dates they give on their website is BS) and you are willing to spend significant time on the phone with their customer service. We ordered a desk for our kid in November. It was meant to be a Christmas gift and was promised to arrive before Christmas. Still waiting, it's almost February. The order got messed up twice. Christmas came and went with no news. Then we find out they sent one of the pieces wrong to warehouse and the whole thing needs to wait until its reordered. Purchased linen sheets from Pottery Barn in September 2018. Used in second home part time til December 2020 when this home became primary home. Now, after 2 1/2 years there is a hole in the bottom sheet. Customer service said they were sorry and offered me a 15% discount on the purchase of a new sheet. First of all, I love Pottery Barn, and have been shopping with them for years. Sad, but their customer service has really declined. An item I ordered arrived broken, so I decided to pick up another at University Village, and drop the broken one off. University Village has a good selection of upscale stores and it's a lot of fun to shop there. The Pottery Barn store on 26th is very nice, but I can't say the same about their customer service. The lady I first called was awful. In store, the service was a little better but not much. Now, I don't want to order anything and have to deal with more of their bad customer service for returns. Maybe I'll just shop in store and avoid their mail order altogether. Their San Francisco customer service department is the worst.
