What an incredible mattress-buying experience! I mean that. And I'll be honest - I was really apprehensive to walk into a mattress store, any mattress store, terrified we were going to be hounded and pushed and cornered into buying something more expensive or more complicated than we needed. I was bracing for the worst... And yet, this was seriously the most fun I've ever had buying just about anything! I did do my research before picking Mattress City in Shoreline, having looked for well-reviewed mattress stores - which this is - so I wasn't totally surprised when the sales associates were pleasant - but then they turned out to be so much more than that! Emily and Trinity were knowledgeable, patient, positive, and just about the friendliest and most genuinely upbeat salespeople I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with! They gave us a multitude of options and didn't press us to buy the most expensive mattress or the highest tech mattress, and let us take our time with zero pressure. Emily even offered me a brand new, clean pillowcase right out of the package to put on a pillow so I could shake off my heebie-jeebies of other heads and faces having laid on it, haha. It was a very thoughtful gesture. While we ended up purchasing a mattress a bit over what we had budgeted, that was totally on us. Emily and Trinity were both very supportive of our purchasing the lower-priced model, but then we just kind of shifted gears and went with the fancier mattress - which I know we're going to love! It's a true credit to them that we honestly felt free to spend a little or a lot, and knew we would still receive the same super friendly enthusiasm either way. They even managed to arrange for delivery within 24 hours, which was a true bonus! We won't forget this incredibly positive experience any time soon. Don't buy a pillow here! I paid $100 for a pillow that I was told had a three-year warranty, implying it could be returned. When I went to return it shortly after buying it because it was too high for my head/neck, I was told that it cannot be returned for comfort reasons and the warranty only covers defects but not comfort. We visited this Mattress City location twice. Our first visit was purely exploratory. Not having purchased a mattress for 20 years, we were "ripe for the pickin'". We had an idea of the brand of mattress we wanted after reading some online reviews, but like any good mattress company, Mattress City didn't have the same model available in the showroom. Instead, they had many more expensive alternatives which began to feel the same, after we were asked to try 10 different ones. Our salesperson was very experienced, pretty hands off and not busy on our first visit, since we were the only customers in the store during the entire 1+ hours we were in the store. With Covid, Mattress City has gone through some lengths to sanitize the pillows for each customer, as well as invest in a UV wand to clear mattresses of Covid impurities which may have been left by previous customers. After our first visit, we leared that, a) we would prefer to purchase a mattress online; b) investing in our back and spinal health in the form of a mattress meant sacrificing that romantic trip to Europe; and, c) The salesperson's wife is Vietnamese, because she prefers to sleep on very hard surfaces, as do most people from Vietnam, according to our salesperson. And because I was also SKoA (Some Kind of Asian), I likewise probably preferred sleeping on hard surfaces. My husband and I held out for another 2 months till we woke up one day - the Hunchback of Washington State and Whiplash Wife. So, we steeled ourselves and crawled back to Mattress City, never having set foot in another mattress store after our first exhausting experience. We decided that we really needed a mattress and that pretty much all mattress stores were about the same, with the same return and price matching policies. We wanted to support a local business and our salesperson was knowledgeable and helpful, despite having a Vietnamese wife whose sleeping preferences are known to every customer who sets foot into Mattress City. This time we went prepared and decided on a version of the mattress which was well-reviewed online. We found the manufacturer's site listing the mattress at $300+ less than the MSRP. And this price was matched. The mattress was even delivered the same day, albeit with dirty scuff marks. The same lone salesperson was patient and courteous through three different sets of customers (Labor Day sales), though in the shopping frenzy our salesperson's wife had changed ethnicities and was now Cambodian. Or, this may have been a different wife, who also liked to sleep on hard surfaces. We are hoping that this mattress will last us another 20 years, by which time we will no longer have to deal with stressful mattress stores...otherwise, I may have to revert to my ancestors' practice of sleeping on the cold, hard ground. read more

This is a 5 star review based on the delivery team. I did not have a good experience in the Shoreline Showroom with only one of the gentlemen. I do not like to give negative reviews, so I will leave it at that. I would like to mention Dustin and Cody, they were the delivery team that delivered the mattress. They were amazing! They were on time, fantastic communication, and everything that had gone wrong with the service in the showroom, they helped correct it and make it right. They went above and beyond to make sure that I had a positive end result experience with Mattress City. I highly recommend these fabulous folks. During COVID-19 they helped me purchase a new bed that I desperately needed after an injury. They delivered it and took the old one away, fully masked, very kind and polite. Don the area manager helped me with the whole process over the phone. initially I was impressed with this place Met Don who seems very knowledgeable about mattresses. He offered me some good pricing while telling me great things such as the weight of my old mattress has probably doubled from dead skin cells and perspiration. I was coming from Costco so not in a position to make a purchase at that time. He immediately became surly sarcastic and loudly announced that I shouldn't have come in when they were 'slammed'. Really a two faced jerk. If you enjoy hard sales and push to buy now then you'll love this place. If it weren't for Don and his aggressive sale tactics my opinion would be different. update: this occurred on a day with three other sales people in the store with one lady supposedly 'the owner'. Taking a critical review and turning it into a sales pitch is further aggravating. Good Bed, but worst Customer Service... The Guy offer us this Bed. And gave us Price for $1,999.00. Payment will be in 12 months. Their Financing Company is Snap Finance. For what i understand, we will make a Payment for $149.99 a month. After the First Payment we made. The Next Payment happen every 2 weeks. That's $300 a month for a Bed we purchase. We thought it's just a mistake. But it happen again in 2 weeks. And we worry because we have other bills to pay. And it's like we purchase a Brand New Car for this $300 payment a month for a Bed. 12 months of payment plus interest we know about that. But $300 a month for 12 Months. The Price this guy offer me and my wife Jump to $3,600. Sweet Deal at First then Became Sour. It's like we bought 2 Beds for that Price he offered. And who wants to pay $3,600. Since this Guy offered $1,999.99 the time we are their at the store. And now we are force to pay $3,600 for the Bed. Interest Charge is $1,600. Don't stay away on this Store. They need your Business here. That's our Experience on this Store. If the Guy gave you a Good Deal. Just walk out the Door Quickly... Now i want to Return the Bed on them. Robbie in the Lynwood store sold me a mattress which unfortunately didn't work out. She and Don have the most impressive customer service I've seen in a long time. I ended up returning 2 mattresses- once for warranty and once for comfort. I received nothing but complete respect and attention. I was embarrassed to have to return for comfort but Don made my experience excellent. I would refer anyone there. I had purchased a mattress from Mattress City in Everett Wa in Sept. of 2019. Gary the salesmen there told me that I would only be paying $1,000 for the mattress through progressive leasing after the payments had been completed. He said that he was going to set me up on auto pay and that way I wouldn't miss any payments and that I would not pay any more than $1,000. He told me that the payments were monthly and that I would only be paying $88.98 a month. I was happy to get a new mattress and agreed to what he had promised. Fast forward to Monday March 23rd 2020. With the current pandemic, my fiancé and I had started paying a little more attention to our bank account and I soon became enraged when I found out I had been paying bi-weekly the $88.98. After further investigation I had found out that Gary the salesmen from mattress city had completely lied to me about the lease contract that he explained to me. When I had signed the documents at the mattress store I had signed electronically through a pos pin pad. The contract was not in front of me and Gary "explained" everything verbally. I was young and dumb, he was older and he saw the opportunity to take advantage of me just to grab a quick sale. To this date I had already paid $978.78 (11 payments of $88.98 since September) so when I logged into my progressive account I was in for another big surprise, not only was I lied to about the monthly payments but I also found out that I still owed an additional $1,334.64. I was shocked and I was extremely upset that someone would take advantage of me in this way. I ended up going to the mattress store and told the manager about what had happened and she explained that there was nothing that they could do even after threatening to take legal action. $2,300 for a mattress that I was told that was going to be only $1,000!!!! Absolutely ridiculous and wrong! I highly discourage anyone from doing business with this company for your own sake. They will screw you over if given even the slightest opportunity. read more

My fiancé and I were fooled by Don's friendly demeanor. He is actually a rude and unprofessional sales person. Our delivery date was changed twice, and the "extras" that Don promised, were not included with the delivery. I had to return to the store twice to get what was promised. When I returned to the store for the second time, Don was quite aggressive and rude. He accused me of being rude to him. But what irritated me the most is that he accused me of being rude to me fiancé. I love my fiancé more than anything in this world, and to have Don accuse me of something like this is completely out of line. If he misinterpreted my attitude towards him as being rude, then that is unfortunate. But to have him make an accusation of how I treat my fiancé, is probably the worst example of customer experience I have experienced in my life. It's really too bad that this is how I left your store. I understand that there are supply chain issues. I used to work in the furniture business myself, and I understand that things don't always go as one would hope. But for Don to make such a personal attack on how I treat my fiancé, I would never set foot in your store again. If someone asks me where to buy a mattress, I just couldn't in my right mind recommend this store. read more

I still find that craigslist are useful for some things and I'm glad that I came across their ad on it. Their show room is one of the bigger ones I came across and had variety of mattresses in kind and price range. Emily was running a one-woman-show on the floor and she was not only knowledgeable but very patient to answer all the questions that I had. I ended up buying two sets of twin beds for my guest room here and I will probably be returning there when I'm ready to purchase an adjustable foundation for my bed. read more

What a great store. We accidentally happened upon it. We bought a new house and decided to get the whole family upgraded and new mattresses. We were walking from Home Depot on our way to Costco when my Dad pointed out the new store, Mattress City, saying it looked nice and with a large selection of mattresses. I was sceptical as often these one of stores aren't as competitive price wise or offer the same guarantees as say Costco. But we proceeded in to take note and compare prices. Well needless to say I was proven very wrong. The store has a huge variety of mattress, it is well presented and the customer service is friendly, very knowledgeable and not pushy or salesy at all. We ordered the kids mattresses and even beds from them. A few days later went back and got another bed and mattress. We got great deals on top end mattresses and very pleased. They have a few stores in and around the greater Seattle area and are family owned and run. We got very well taken care of. read more

Really nice to find a business with integrity. We bought a beautiful, compact murphy bed, which we are very happy with, based on the demo model in store that had side tables. Unfortunately the cherry color we ordered, which was in stock, was apparently not yet new enough to have the "new" side tables. We we surprised by this when the delivery came and complained about not have the side tables we saw in store. The manager, Emily, was gracious in acknowledging the mistake and had the company send out the side tables, which fit perfectly, at no cost.
