I spent $12,317.49 on a custom leather sectional from Crate & Barrel (Order #60261509118, placed June 7, 2025). More than a year later, I still do not have the sectional I ordered. Here's what happened: * The first sectional was manufactured incorrectly. * The replacement was also manufactured incorrectly. * On the third attempt, I was notified before delivery that the sectional was gashed and missing components, so it could not be delivered. Three failed manufacturing attempts. More than a year. Still no completed order. I am out $12,000. I understand that mistakes happen. What I cannot understand is how a company selling premium furniture can get the same custom order wrong twice and then have the third replacement arrive damaged and incomplete before it even reaches the customer. When someone spends over $12,000 on custom furniture, they expect quality, accountability, and customer service that matches the price. This is located in U-Village on the north end of the property attached to the parking garage, near Jamba Juice. I needed a new kitchen knife, so I came by to check out some options. Did some research on my own and read a bunch of product reviews etc. I came by and looked at the Wusthof knife in person and decided to get it. They didn't have it in stock but could order for me and come back again to pick up on a later date. Came back the following week or so, product was ready, just tell the sales staff you are here to pick up your order, they will check your particulars and you are good to go. Prices are pretty much like every other store I checked for this product, so no real discount or deal I could find. Staff was friendly and pretty easy process overall. Worst customer service experience, please take your business elsewhere. It's been a nightmare of a journey getting a couch delivered and now we're still stuck with an unsatisfactory resolution. Couch 1: It was dropped out of the truck by the delivery men. The leg was broken when we opened it up and the rails barely worked. The delivery men told us they would send someone to fix it, but when customer service called they just wanted to swap out the couches. They said it would be much faster (a week vs 4-6 weeks), so we said yes. Couch 2: Swapped with the first couch. Trundle closure was misaligned and has to be lifted to be full closed, and the fabric wasn't pulled enough, lots of wrinkles on the main seat before we even sat on it. Couch 3, 4, and 5: Made them open the couches before bringing up to our condo and all had issues where we had to refuse the delivery. The delivery guys agreed and wouldn't even let us take the time to see if we could fix it. #3 had the same rail issue as couch 2, #4 had black (oil?) marks in the middle of the seat, and #5 had dirt. Every time we were assured they would do a special inspection before sending another for delivery. These never happened. We have now had to have five working days revolve around the schedule for these deliveries. We've had to clear our living room 5 times and make extra room for the couch swap, and we've had to coordinate the delivery with our building management. "White glove delivery" has been complained every time about the weight of the couch and the process of delivering, been uncomfortably rushed, and been combative with the building management. Now the couch is being discontinued and we're being offered a small amount to keep the damaged couch with no warranty, or we can return it. They said we'll lose the shipping cost if we return, even though they never delivered a non-damaged couch. I also bought matching pillows that were custom order and they said too bad, they won't return those. On top of all of this, we called the store to follow up and they said since corporate had been in touch, they couldn't really help us out anymore. They really pushed us to buy through the store because they said they could help if anything came up. Apparently, I was supposed to refuse corporate calls when they followed up on the issue, and call the local store myself instead. They said since we engaged with corporate, they now can't help. They also admonished us and said how expensive it is for them to do 5 deliveries, as if we were asking for too much. They told us we had wasted our own work days by scheduling during the week, since I mentioned how they're not respecting our time. It doesn't matter when I scheduled, my work and personal time is valuable and Crate & Barrel is not taking any responsibility for wasting my time. At this point we're deciding if we stick with the measly discount to just be done with the ordeal and live with a mediocre couch for a couple years, to just throw it out when it will undoubtedly fail due to poor craftsmanship. Our alternative option is to return and live without a couch for a few months while we sort out finding a new one and waiting for 2-4 months to get it delivered. BEWARE when the delivery of furniture! They are incompetent in following delivery instructions and have no mechanism to fix it! In my case, the driver failed to follow specific information on where to deliver my new bed and mattress. Then It took me three days (one entire day on the telephone with several people) to get it rescheduled. They had no automatic system to respond to their failure to deliver. I ordered my infinite setea back in March and they promised it would be delivered in 17 weeks. I still haven't received it. It has been 7 months and they still don't know when it will be delivered. No apologies, no email or txt communication for delays. It looks like they do it so much they don't even think they should apologize for it. When we moved to our new home, we purchased almost all our furniture new. All the furnitures from macy's, Ashely, Dianna has arrived on time, but This store is a legend in keeping their promise. Be warned when you order anything to be shipped. Crate & Barrel uses FedEx to deliver items purchased for delivery. FedEx is unreliable. We've been shopping here for the past five years. We love their accessories, silverware, and kitchen essentials and we've bought all of our stuff from here, but it seems their customer service for furniture has been going down the hill. We purchased a Lounge II 83" sofa and it's by far the worst item we've owned from the store. The seat cushions, back cushions, and throw pillows have all started leaking feathers after only two months. Every time someone sits on the sofa, they are jabbed by the feathers. Also, the fabric is very dark, so the feathers that stick out really stand out. We kept being told by the sales associate who recommended it that this will wear in and mellow out. It's quite obvious there's problem with this sofa. An upholstery job gone wrong. It has down proof ticking but maybe not a very high thread count. I'm pretty sure this will just get worse as the sofa gets older. I've spent hours and hours trying to get a hold of someone to complain to for eight months now. I've sent more than three emails with photos attached without any response. I've been given at least four phone numbers and and I'm constantly told that "I'm the first on their list". I'm surprised that this purchase and their service has been such a disappointment, especially when you're paying this much for their items. read more

I always seem to go furniture shopping when I look terrible. You know, unwashed hair, the ripped jeans, the t-shirt covered in stains. It just seems to happen that way and I love it. You really get honest service at high end places when you look this way. Sure enough, most people just look at you funny. They tend to be the lifestyle yuppsters who keep saying "It's so nice... but so expensive... I can't afford that." And yet most of the sales people are hounding them hoping to make a sale on a stingy buyer who only came in on the way to their next Starbucks latte. We were helped very quickly and treated very well here. And that's why I like coming here to shop. The sales people have always taken their time, given the the measurements I needed and offered help. Not to mention I love the quality of their items. Always be prepared to have to order custom, which can take months. Even sometimes the stock items will take weeks. Pick up is easy and they take phone orders. Love this location! Always clean, plenty of space to walk without knocking stuff over, which is something I would definitely like to avoid doing. I love the selection and good customer service here, but I do wish there were more floor staff available for help and answering questions. I spent at least 10-15 minutes going in circles trying to find a very specific and small item, or get someone to point me in the right direction, but the very few workers that were out there were extremely busy with other customers with more lengthy needs for assistance. read more

However, I'm writing this review in response to an unusual refund request that was handled well. The journey started after leaving a negative review on C&B's website for a product that had broken twice. Later, online customer service read my review, reached out, and referred me to their Seattle retail location for further assistance. At this point, my purchase was months outside their return window, and I wrote the review with no expectation of receiving an exchange or refund. Yet, their manager worked with me to locate the transaction in their system and provide me with a full refund. I told him what I was looking for and also, showed him pictures of the couches I needed to jazz up! He even walked over to CB2 and helped me pick out stuff from that store and thank goodness he was there because the people working at CB2 wasn't very friendly or guiding us with assistance. I suppose that when furniture shopping, we'd all love to find each individual piece in a painstaking and interesting way that leads to a story: "I found this rug in a little shop next to a place where I was cliff diving in Madagascar....." For those of us who are more lazy, there's Crate and Barrel. And the furniture is very good here. I'm reminded of a Friends episode where Phoebe is discussing her hatred of Pottery Barn but loves a chest that (unknown to her) is from Pottery Barn. Once she discovers this fact, she changes her mind and fills her entire apartment with things from the store. My place is kinda like that. My living room has been accused of being a Crate and Barrel showroom, which is nearly literally true. ("But there is this one shelf from Nairobi.....") The store is a pretty good place to browse and is divided into two levels. The ground floor is pretty much smaller items such as glassware, kitchen items, small tables and accessories. The upper level is more home and patio furniture. Staff is uniformly friendly and helpful. I haven't really had too much of a hard sell here, they've been more informational and less confrontational. The prices are more toward the expensive end; at times I have considered instead looking for a couch that a UW frat might have thrown out the window on the weekend. Plus then there would be more of a story with that couch...... read more

Crate and Barrel is my favorite place to buy quality furniture and housewares. Not every freakin' thing is made in China (e.g., Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware), which is such a rarity these days. And their wood furniture isn't all made out of cheap mango wood or some other soft wood that dings, dents, and scratches like nobody's business. they've got great sales, too, especially when they need to make room for newer showroom pieces. AND, I absolutely LOVE how they include a made in America down/feather insert with all their pillow covers. I have so many C&B goodies in my house, but because they're always changing their inventory, you never end up with something that looks like it came straight out of a Pottery Barn catalog. (Sorry for baggin' on PB, but their stuff doesn't change much and has really gone downhill in the last few years - i.e., EVERYTHING is made in China but the prices have either stayed the same or gone up even tho the quality has been on the decline - UGH!!!) I ordered some items from the website for store pickup, which the website clearly showed as available in the U-Village store. That afternoon I received an email from the store telling me the items were out of stock and it would be at least a month before they got them from the warehouse. As such, I had them cancel the order. AFTER having cancelled the order, the rep told me that if I ordered them from the warehouse, I could have them in 3-5 days, but if I wanted to use the gift cards I'd applied to the original order, I'd have to wait 5-7 business days while they mailed me a replacement card from Chicago. I'm going to wait for the card, I'm going to order these items directly, and then I'm never going to shop at Crate & Barrel ever again. This is ridiculously poor service, both from the store and the website. I could've ordered the same items from Amazon for the same price and had them in two days. read more

Crate & Barrel is a place I wish I could afford more. I like to stop in here and get ideas for furniture and decorating. It's a great place to browse through. You can then go on Craigslist to try and find it all "gently used" and a fraction of the price. They do have some affordable stuff too such as stemless wine glasses for only $2.50! If you're a drunk like me and break glasses often, this is a great place to load back up on them for cheap. The only knock on the place is it's in U Village. If you're in the mood to elbow soccer moms and kick over strollers just to get around, enjoy! Sometimes it can be fun. Other times you just want to stop in quick so you can stop drinking wine out of a red plastic cup. read more

I have purchased most of the furniture in my home from this store over the past 15 years. I have ALWAYS had excellent shopping experiences, customer service and design help. Crate and Barrel has quality products that I am willing to pay for. If you're looking for cheap stuff there is always IKEA but the furniture at this store has held up great in my home and it's been a great investment. I have come to know several of the sales associates and the manager Jenny over the years and they have always been very accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. I've never had a question go unanswered or a problem unsolved. They are a friendly, helpful and courteous bunch and a pleasure to do business with. I always feel appreciated for my business whether it's a large furniture item or just the purchase of a simple kitchen gadget or a bargain shelf sale item. Nothing but love for this place. I registered here for my wedding and had a great experience. You get 10% off on items on your registry if they are not purchased, and you get 2 of these opportunities to use this discount- once online or over the phone, and another time in store. They have never had an issue with us returning broken items (from shipping) and have always been very friendly. They also have a private registry event where the store is open only to registry members (free mimosas!!)!! We did order a table from here once though and it had significant chips in it. Unfortunately we didn't notice until we got it home, and we didn't get delivery, which means we had to sign a waiver for any damages that we may have done on our own through moving the item. So if you purchase furniture, I'd say get delivery. Why bother with the hassle of moving it yourself? read more

This is for their online shipping...which doesn't come close to other stores, which I leaving out Amazon because that's in a league of itself. It's been almost 2 weeks since I placed my order and it still states that it is being prepared for shipment. It didn't take that long to accept payment, which they took within 24 hours. I still do not know if my order will be here in time for the holiday gifts I got my colleagues. I expected 5-7 business days to receive...not 8-11 business days to ship. I was told it would most likely ship yesterday or today but that they would expedite it since I called in. Nothing has changed so I guess that was a lie.
