Although most of Pottery Barn furniture is from off shore for the most part it is of reasonable quality. However, the waiting for over six months for delivery is intolerable. What is even worse is the material is packed in styrofoam and cardboard and when it does arrive 20 percent or more has hidden damage. Now the waiting continues for the replacements. The so called white glove delivery is by independent operators hired by a broker called Ryder Last Mile. Their customer service is non existent and responses are all automated from Ohio. Ryder Last Mile white glove delivery should get zero stars. Unless you can take the product with you off the floor, buying from Pottery Barn should be avoided, as the pain and suffering caused from delays, damaged pieces, and dealing with a dysfunctional delivery company is unhealthy. read more

I love Pottery Barn! The style and design flows well over the years, so that much of the new items still work well with items I've bought in the past. It's nice to be able to walk in and buy another place setting, extra bedding that matches or co-ordinates with what I already have. It make home furnishing shopping much easier. I also love that you can buy a throw pillow cover with or without the pillow insert, so that I can change them out for different seasons. The staff is very nice, and helpful. If they don't have what I want in stock, they offer to check at the NW 23rd location or online for customers. Very relaxing ambiance, which implies that their goods can contribute to a relaxing home environment. read more

To say I hate Pottery Barn is an understatement. This company--and its affiliates--have zero regard for customer service or satisfaction. I've had two awful experiences that made this clear. A few years ago, I ordered three sets of curtains online. Only one matched the color and texture I expected. Then, while hanging the curtains, I fell from a ladder and broke five ribs near my spine. I spent a week in the trauma unit and was on heavy medication for weeks. Four weeks after the order arrived, I began calling Pottery Barn to return the two unsatisfactory sets. It was early December, I called at least a dozen times, often waiting over an hour on hold. One time, I waited 72 minutes just to be told I'd need to wait another 50 minutes for a supervisor. In the end, they refused to accept the return because I was past the 30-day window--despite my serious medical emergency. Now, years later, I ordered a double curtain rod. It arrived incomplete--missing the finials--and I felt the rod was too short for the window. I called to exchange it for a longer (more expensive) version and to order in-stock finials. They told me I'd still be charged $30 for the return. It didn't matter that the order was incomplete, or that I wanted to spend more. These aren't just bad policies--they're anti-customer. Pottery Barn squeezes every penny from shoppers and counts on their market dominance to get away with it. My advice: skip Pottery Barn and their affiliates. Try Room & Board or even Target--both have far better service and respect for your time and money. read more

Cute lamp on sale for being the floor model, however did not include the lampshade and for $220 on sale for the floor model I could not justify it. The first time I walked in I didn't get acknowledged or helped but stepped out and turned back around to look at the lamp because I had just seen it and then got help that time. Cute stuff and store. All these stories sound so familiar! I ordered office furniture. The day of delivery, they called to say they didn't have all the parts. I told them to deliver what they had (I had already paid for all of it). Delivery guys show up with three of the eight parts. The room is torn apart in anticipation of this furniture. I was on the phone with PB for two hours but no one has answers. They did offer to credit 10% of my order but who knows when I'll see that?? I always thought PB was a good company. I went on December 29th around 4pm to this location. Customer Service is HORRIBLE at this location! The cashier kept looking at me while I was looking for things to purchase. I felt very discriminated towards. I asked a question nicely about where i could find a product and she answered very rudely and said over there not even pointing at where this product was. I was so excited that after several years of looking, I found the perfect bedroom furniture at Pottery Barn. I ordered the entire suite of furniture on 6/30/24. The delivery date was moved several times and finally delivered on 8/9/24. I walked into the bedroom after the bed was assembled to find the canopy had not been installed (Note - it was 4:50 pm on a Friday afternoon) The installer said that the canopy would not fit in my room as it was too tall? (The bed and canopy overall height was 6'6". My room height, 9'!!) We were headed out on vacation so I didn't follow up until we returned in early September. That is when the nightmare started. When I called customer service to schedule someone to install the canopy (it was in a box in my garage - unopened) I was told Pottery Barn would not make it right stating that when I signed for the delivery, I also was signing a release of any further liability. So after a ridiculous number of phone calls and numerous people who were going to help me I was granted a service call; by now it is mid October. The woman who came was wonderful. She and I figured out what needed to be done and the two of us installed the canopy! Oh, and one more fun fact - they had delivered two canopies!! So I had to call PB again and request that they come and pick up the "extra" canopy. Seriously?? This is NOT the kind of customer service (or the lack thereof) that I expected from Pottery Barn. The quality of the furniture seems to be fine, although it was very spendy, not only for the furniture, but the time I had to put in to get it right, but the rest??? When she got to us she said she would be right back since she had to give the money to the company that picks it up so she stated she would come right back to us. I was so disappointed by the terrible customer service I received. I was carrying in a large, awkward box to return. Once I made it to the counter I was told by an employee that I needed to carry it to a different counter. Once I made it to the other counter, the manager said she couldn't assist me with my return because I was days passed the return window, even though they item was still completely packaged and I was traveling during the time of delivery. The manager was not willing to make any exception even though I have never made this request, after years and years of being a very loyal customer. I ordered a sofa bed in February with a delivery date of March 6 th. On the scheduled day of the delivery the white glove service called and said that the couch was damaged, and they would put in another order. No apology or explanation of what the problem was. The next date for delivery was set up for May 1st. On the day of the delivery I received a call stating that the couch was damaged and no date for delivery was offered nor was there an apology or an explanation offered. Customer service was no help. They just stated that they wanted to make sure the couch was perfect before offering another date for delivery. Of course, my credit card was charged when the original order was placed and now, we are at May 3rd with no delivery date, no explanation, no apology, and no couch. Pottery barn is a complete disappointment. I purchased 2 matching cabinets for the sides of the fireplace. 1 cabinet was determined to be no longer available but no one from pottery barn called me. I only discovered this when I called to find out when the cabinet would be delivered. I have now called 3 times to get pottery barn to come pick up the other cabinet because there is no point to have only 1. 3 weeks later the cabinet has not been picked up. I am so disappointed in Pottery Barn's customer service apparatus. Several months ago I returned an order. Over the course of three months, I talked to more than 10 people on their customer service line. From a $140 order, they initially only refunded me $40. The customer service representative would always promise me something. Once it was a e-merchant card, the next time it was two e-merchandise cards, then a promise to credit my credit card. What happens at Pottery Barn is that the customer service representative promises you something, and then the supervisor denies it, but no one ever lets you know. No one lets you know that the promise has been denied, so you wait around for the card, or for the credit, or for the call that never comes. I was told that I could not speak to a supervisor, but that I had to email. I emailed but never received a reply. In the latest debacle, the supervisor was supposed to call me, but never did. I finally got my money back over through sheer persistence. It was many hours on the phone with my blood pressure spiking. I told them that I would never do business with them again, and it didn't seem to matter. They are just a big store, with fancy prices, who could care less about their customers. My husband and I went into PB to shop for a sofa. No one greeted us or asked if we needed help (this should've been our first clue to run the other direction). But I hunted someone down to help us. We made our decisions and placed our order on 9/7/15) for a (quick ship) couch and (custom) chair, both items would be shipped and delivered to us. We were given a 4 week time frame for delivery of the couch; the chair will take longer because it is a custom item. However, 4 weeks passed, with no contact from PB. I used their website to track my order and they updated the delivery date for 4 more weeks out! I contacted customer service and they could not provide me any additional information regarding my order. Finally 10/14/15, the couch was updated to indicate that it was delivered to the "warehouse". So I called to find out what that meant. Good news! My item arrived and is ready to be scheduled for delivery. I was given the phone # to MXD Group (866-711-1164) to schedule delivery. Called MXD and was told they don't have my item and cannot schedule a shipment. The representative said this happens all the time with PB. PB says MXD has the item, but it hasn't been received by them. I was told I would just have to wait for their automated call to me! The only thing I wish I would've know before ordering anything from PB was how awful their shipment reviews have been- Google it and you'll see what I mean! I only wish I would've read more reviews before entering this endeavor. I am highly disappointed and after this I WILL NEVER ORDER ANYTHING FROM POTTERY BARN OR SHOP ANY OF THEIR STORES or sister companies- William Sonoma, West Elm, etc. again! Pottery Barn personnel were pleasant but were not able to deal with a difficult situation. A set of Pottery Barn brand pottery plates and bowls we purchased from them developed such severe cracks in the glaze that this tableware is not safe to use. Unfortunately, we did not have a receipt available, so they were not able (willing) to provide any credit for their faulty product. It is a shame that they did not stand behind a totally faulty product with their brand name on every piece. If you want good customer service, dress like you work in a high powered business office. If you are kicking it in jeans and a sweat shirt, you will be promptly ignored. I've actually tested this out. When I go in dressed in dress slacks, blouse, a business jacket, high heels, and my hair and make up done up, they trip over themselves to help me. Pottery barns return policy needs a refurb. I received a gift from my mother I wanted to bring in for store credit and it took 30 minutes to return. Any other retailer in 2017 would just take care of it (They were in their original packaging, inside of the sealed plastic bag they shipped in). After 30 minutes on the phone they finally just issued a credit "in store" which should have happened right when I walked in. If any other retailer did this they would go out of business. read more

If you are buying furniture from POTTERY BARN I suggest you read this review before you make the purchase! Please consider a company with better customer service in the event that your furniture is damaged during delivery. The employees at Pottery Barn, Washington Square (Portland Oregon) were very helpful and nice which is part of the reason I made the decision to buy one couch that cost upward of $3,600. I even was prompted to apply for and use a Pottery Barn credit card to receive double points on my purchase. Score! The first irritating situation was that the sales person in the store neglected to inform me that my points would be distributed into two different billing cycles even though I made one purchase on one item with one transaction. I made this transaction in November. It is now February and I have yet to receive all of my reward points. (I've received half.) This is a minor irritation because we all know how big companies work; they want you to become impatient and spend your money instead of reward points. The real irritation is a situation in which I am still appalled by. This is the AWEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE that I was given was when my couch came to my house. I still am sitting on a damaged couch done by their delivery team. It was delivered in the very beginning of December and it is now February. After doing all proper measurements to make sure that the item would fit through my front door and into my living room, the delivery team still managed to crack the front foot of my couch and scratch the other one. Unfortunately, they delivered it when my housekeeper was home so I did not notice this problem until they were already gone. I called the 1-800 number from the company immediately after I noticed the problem. They asked me to take pictures and send them in to an email address for someone on their "delivery quality team." I did this and did not hear anything back for two weeks. I called again to make sure my issue was properly reported and they told me that is was in the system and I just needed to wait. I waited almost a month and finally called the store that I had ordered the couch from to see if there was a better route to solving this issue since I hadn't heard anything. This is when they discovered that the notes from the problem had been stored in the wrong place. Okay?! Once they found the notes and put them into the proper place it took them another week and a half to call me for a solution. Their solution: "We will need to come pick your couch up and take it to Portland (2.5 hours away from my house) to have a 'medic' repair it. This should take a week and a half to two weeks." What?! All this for something that was not even my fault to begin with! I told them if they could just send two new feet for the couch then I'm sure my husband could figure out how to take them off and install them. Apparently, the feet are irremovable so this was not a solution. I informed the company that I did not have anything else to sit on since this was our only couch. (We got rid of our old furniture and are currently replacing it with nicer furniture one by one.) They said they would inform the "delivery quality team member" of my issue and then get back to me. This is when a woman by the name of Barbie called me and told me the same exact thing... they were going to take away the couch to repair it! Umm, no because then we will have nowhere to sit. There must be a better solution. After Barbie was extremely rude telling me that if I was going to "deny service" (I never said that!) then that was my choice. Really? She obviously lacked customer service skills so I asked to speak with Khristian who was the girl I had been dealing with all along. Khristian has been much nicer and caring of my issue. I let her know I didn't expect a new couch by any means but it would be nice if they could find someone local to fix my brand new couch or send me a temporary couch while mine was gone. After all, this was a brand new couch that their delivery team damaged! Why have I been so inconvenienced? I am still waiting to hear back from a local repair person. I ordered this couch on November 4th. It is February 4th and my couch has still not been fixed. I have wasted copious amounts of time and energy on a company who prides themselves on quality. In my experience this company only values their customer before money is spent. Once the deal is done, do not expect Pottery Barn to fix their own mistake heaven forbid something go wrong. The sales people here are complete snobs who profile shoppers (it's subtle but one definitely feels it) provably specific to certain staff who I would love to name if I could. Fake blonde with long straight hair is a total bitch. They do it all by the book so don't expect any level of going above and beyond for you unless you are spending a lot of money in their store. I ended up buying a new duvet cover for 75% off. With my gift card, I ended up paying $17.00 out of pocket and no tax. I am this review as I had an amazing customer service experience with Lindsay, the Manager of this store last night. I received shams, a duvet cover, and a duvet insert totaling over $600 in merchandise. I washed and used the set once and could not sleep as the specific cover was partially made of linen and was super scratchy. Lindsey let us return the used merchandise and exchange it for all new and even refunded my mother for the difference as the new items we bought were on sale. She definitely didn't need to take used items but went out of her way to help us and make sure we left as happy customers. She was very kind and you can tell she really cares about her team and her customers. *On one other note, my husband and I were greeted by a woman with a brown bob and glasses who was extremely snobby to us and my mother has had the same experience with this woman on different occasions. Although the in store product is appealing and we were treated with nothing but kindness by the employees and management, if you are NOT purchasing from the store or "pick up" only than I highly suggest you rethink your purchase. The 3rd party shipping/delivery company they use are not only incompetent; but unaccountable for screwing up delivery times as well as lack of communication and customer care. For the cost of the furniture, it is NOT worth the additional hassle you have to go through to receive your stuff.
