Would not recommend them anymore due to horrible and misleading (lying) communication. They did an overhaul of our heating system before and they did a good job so we called them again for a minor repair. We called to explain the issue, sent them the picture of exactly what needed to be repaired, and confirmed (twice) that they would not charge a diagnostic fee. Also confirmed that they'd give us a $25 GC based on a promotion they were running. Then they charged us a diagnostic fee ($119), wouldn't honor the GC, and didn't even send a receipt. On top of that, they charged even more than they said - they quoted us one amount in the beginning, the repair person who came out told us we owed them another (but similar to first quote), and they ended up charging us more than either. I had to call multiple times and basically settle at higher amount to pay while they dismissed the diagnostic fee. Oh, and they did not honor the GC. I still haven't gotten my receipt yet. read more

Called.for a repair to.my AC. Set6r up an appointment two weeks later, as it was their earliest available. I called them the morning of to reconfirm and check the appointment time. The lady on the phone confirmed 1:00-3:00. She called back 30 minutes later and apologized, saying the correct time was 5:00. 5:00 came around, no one showed. I called at 5:30. The new lady on the phone confirmed that I was on the list and told me that she'd have the technician call with an ETA. No one called. No one showed up. Now it's two weeks later, the AC is still nonfunctional, and I have nothing scheduled. Horrible customer service. read more

A few years ago, PVA was not able to fit me in for a service call as soon as I needed, so I went with another company. After a horrible ecperience, it was a no brainer to go back with PVA. My AC was not working correctly. I called PVA this morning, and received a same day appointment. The service technician. Dane, was professional, knowledgeable, respectful and easy to talk with. Terrible customer service. Needed an inducer motor replaced, was quoted a price and when tech returned two hours later, was charged hundreds $$$ more. Inadvertently grabbed an old check book to pay and was never contacted by the office that payment was still outstanding. They sent it straight to collections and then lied about having left VM's. There were no VM's on my service. Poor service, predatory billing practices and they jeopardized my credit over something that could have been cleared up in one phone call. About 2 weeks ago I used Poudre Valley Air for an after hours service call on a rental unit. The furnace had stopped working. The technician who came out was very nice, but didn't fix the problem. Thought it was a switch- tightened that-changed the air filter (which i had purchased and was in the crawl space). He did other diagnosis on the furnace. Was working when he left, but stopped working during the night. Tenant asked him to look at the sensor which had been an issue a couple years earlier. Didn't do that. Because of the winter storm we couldn't get another company to come out till 2 days later. The furnace at this point was working intermittently. The other company cleaned the sensor and the furnace now works without issue. I was upset because I thought the bill was too high for one of the charges of $80 to put in a furnace filter which takes 30 seconds and I supplied. I was ok with the after hours charge of $126 even though the furnace wasn't fixed. But I felt it was unethical to charge $80 for a 30 second activity. The service manager told me it takes a lot to get someone to come out after hours. Well then they should tack that on to the hourly charge not parts (which they said would only be a 5% up charge after hours. Rip off company. My Home Warranty company hired them to replace my furnace. They didn't match elevations on the exhaust piping and the gas exhaust from the HWH then wouldn't leave the room. It actually melted the connection devices. They reduced the heating and cooling air chamber by 50% to save themselves money and now the capacity of the heating and cooling will not cover my home. I have used this company for several years. I recently had a service call on Christmas Eve. After several inquiries as to wether or not it is "after hours" service and not getting a definitive answer, I had them come out. I was charged double the price for service, as well as $73 for a $17 fuse. (I bought a new one retail for $17). Avoid Poudre Valley Air at all costs. We had the Unico AC system installed in our remodeled house last year. We had never used the system until it got hot in the last couple weeks. Before using the AC system we had issue after issue with the thermostats that they installed integrating without our heating system (which they assured us would integrate just fine). We went without heat last winter for days until we had to manually start the heating system, and Poudre Valley Air dragged their feet getting out to us, then sending technicians who did not know how to fix what was going on. After many calls to Poudre Valley Air and several visits they got the head control integrated to the thermostats. We were told the system is all set to go. Then this spring it got hot. We turned the system on and it was not cooling. Several days later they were able to send out techs who informed us there was a leak in the system, supposedly repaired that, and then told us they weren't familiar with the system that their company, Poudre Valley Air, installed. Despite this visit the AC system is LOUD, blows a minimal amount of air, and the air is not cold, just slightly cool. The system we had installed is billed as high velocity, able to cool a room in minutes and QUIET. Two calls were made to the company yesterday. The first was not returned. The second several hours later was answered by someone who 1) knew nothing about the system and 2) said they would call back with someone who knew more. No one called back. Today I spoke to someone and despite their system being an ongoing issue, they have no one to come out to look at it for over a week, and then the person I spoke to couldn't assure me that it was someone who knew the system. This is the same thing that happened last winter/fall when we were having heating and thermostat issues. No one calls you back. No one is available, and when a technician does come out they are not familiar with the system. This is so unacceptable. If we had known what kind of company Poudre Valley Air is we would never have spent a ton of money getting what is thus far a worthless system installed. We are about ready to contract with someone else to fix Poudre Valley Air's screwups and send them the bill. I would even be willing to pay an overtime fee or something to get them to fix this sooner, and I have told that to the company, but no dice. So after spending the $ to get a central AC installed we are using a portable window AC in our bedroom just to sleep and it works better than anything this company has done. read more

Not sure why we were charged $79 to have a technician spend 10 minutes to "diagnose" what was wrong with our ac unit. He quoted us $599 to install a new blower motor. I specifically asked if it would affect the heat output and the tech said it should work just fine. A week later, on the first day of cold weather I tried to turn the heat on and it didn't work. The technician told an untruth and left me out in the cold, literally! We ended up buying the part ourselves for $240 and installed it ourselves in less than 20 minutes. I feel taken advantage of by Poudre Valley Air and will not recommend to friends. read more

The service is lousy. We have attempted to get our ducts cleaned by them to no avail. We were cancelled out on once due to their workers being sick. The second time we scheduled, we waited for them and they did not show. Found the problem, he had to go to the shop and get a part. Ryan returned and completed the job. He was a very nice friendly respectable young man! He is an asset to your company. Sure is refreshing to have a company that responds quickly with a nice person doing the work. We will be calling for any other work we may need. Hopefully not for a long time. While the technician who came out on Sunday to diagnose the problem was very friendly, we paid nearly $125 for PVA to basically do nothing to solve our furnace issue. After having to call and follow up on the parts order and service scheduling 3 separate times the next day only to constantly be told that someone would call me back, and getting a quote that our friend in HVAC said was outrageous, we won't be using their services. Expensive and terrible customer service. We will be sure to let everyone we know not to call them on a weekend or any other time they need help with a heating issue in freezing cold weather. read more

First, I need to start this review by letting you know we that we used PVA to install an air conditioner and their service was awesome. So when we needed a new water heater, I called PVA without hesitation. Two months after installation we had to call a plumber, we had developed a leak in the downstairs bathroom ceiling (yes, we called PVA, and were told "they don't do leaks"). When the plumber inspected our place, he immediately asked who installed our water heater. After an explanation and $1600 later paid to the plumber, on top of paying $1600 to PVA initially, he essentially told us that it was a mistake to call a HVAC company to install a water heater. Homeowners beware.... Go online & find out why you should have a plumber and not an HVAC company install your water heater. Just for the record, I did reach out to Nicole at Poudre Valley Air and explained what happened after they installed our water heater. She told me that they install water heaters to building inspector code. The inspector took a glance at the water heater and then asked if we had a CO2 detector. Less than 2 minutes tops in our home (if that says anything about building inspectors).... Nicole did, however, claim that Poudre Valley Air appreciates their customers and respects their word of mouth. She expressed concern regarding the situation, however, the owner was on vacation and as soon as he returned she would talk to him and see if there was anything they could do to make things a bit better. Over a month later, we have yet to hear anything from Nicole.... But we DID get a $50 off coupon in the mail from them on our next water heater. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR WATER HEATERS!!!! read more

Two years ago we had 3lbs of refrigerant put into our AC and suspected a leak (not PVA). It wasn't working properly again recently. On the 7th, 2 techs (one training the other "in the ways of PVA") from PVA said the refrigerant levels were fine. The compressor outside was rattling probably due to acidic refrigerant and needed replaced. They also stated it could be the entire unit outside but it could mean the entire system (inside and out) needs replaced. (they later quoted $2300 for outside compressor). I then called another company for second opinion. They said refrigerant was 2 pounds low (holds 4) and that's probably why compressor was making noise (missing half it's lubricant). Filled it (noise went away and AC started working again). Did not find leak (only thing consistent with PVA inspection). Cleaned outside unit and put in some stop leak (as their experience told them the condenser/evaporator? Inside house was notorious for leaks due to a bad run of this particular part). Seems to be quiet and working fine. I called PVA and was told the techs do a thorough inspection and at the time, their instruments indicated it was adequately charged. I asked how that would change to half full in 3 days (time between inspections). She had no answer other than reiterating what she had already told me. I don't understand how this is possible. I paid them 80 bucks to be told I'll need to pay them at least $2300 more vs. $80 or so for 2lbs of refrigerant. I fully realize this does not exclude my compressor from being faulty or whatever, but mixed with what I would think would be AC 101 (how charged is the system) and stating my next move is at least $2300 to them, makes me wonder. Lesson learned... Always get a second opinion. This was my experience with them. I called them because I've heard nothing but good things. I will not call them again. I will not refer them. I have plenty of business cards from the other place though if you want one. read more

This was my second experience with PV Air over the last several years and again got 5 star service. A few years ago I had a property 7 miles up from Ted's Place in Poudre Canyon. I was fearful of having a carbon monoxide issue for my tenants. Fort Collins heating and air would not even come up the canyon. I call PV Air and they dispatched Eli and he was there that day. Last night the furnace in our house in town went out. Again, same day service. Flat rate pricing. Norm was effective in trouble shooting, cleaned connections and the inside and replaced the ignitor. The biggest plus is he did not feed me a line of BS or give me the "girl pricing". He was polite, courteous, wore booties to protect our flooring. I highly recommend PV Air. read more

He was personable and very considerate of the property wearing boogies each time in the house despite multiple entries and exits. He was very thorough and professional. The unit is a rental. Prompt service and that's about it. They are definitely pricey and what should have been a quick (albeit temporary fix) by their technician, ended up with the technician shutting down my furnace over safety concerns and a $200 tab. I had NoCo HVAC in the next week and they cleaned the flame indicator and adjusted the blower and had our furnace up and running in less than 40 minutes. I contacted PVA for a reimbursement and they refused as they back their technician's assessment and it was a safety issue. A safety issue that should have been assessed and covered by our home owner's warranty. I would not recommend. read more

Our A/C went out about 2 weeks ago. We have previously used PVA. We called PVA to schedule a maintenance/diagnostic service. Appointment was scheduled for Friday afternoon at 3:30pm. Their technician came out, on time, and inspected the unit. He told us everything was in range and was working properly. Two hours later the unit quit functioning. We paid $79 for a tech call for nothing. We called them early the next morning (Saturday). We were told we would have to pay, again, for a service call but that this time, because it was a weekend we would be charged higher rates. We had been given estimates for what could possibly be wrong and what it would cost to replace some parts. We were quoted $691 to replace the condenser fan and capacitor. But when we spoke with them on Saturday they told us that if they came out to replace those items, on that day, it would cost $2,000. I laughed at the notion of something so ridiculous. I called another company that came out Monday morning and inspected the unit. They did diagnostics for FREE. Thank you Tri City Heating and Cooling. I was able to order, and replace parts, myself for $260. I will never again use Poudre Valley Air. read more

Had these guys install my furnace because they were the ones that Lowe's subcontracted. The furnace failed inspection because it was in a closet without any fresh air intake. I at least give them 2 stars because they sent someone out on a weekend free of charge to make it up to code. My A/C stopped, and I diagnosed it myself to be a failed starting capacitor. This is a $25 part online, but I couldn't find anyone who would sell me one locally, and I didn't want to sweat for two days. They charged me $250 for the part and $75 for "diagnosis". I don't mind paying a premium for a house call and for the part, but this is pretty shameful. read more

Would not recommend doing business with this company. Was desperate to have our AC unit repaired so I picked the 1st company that could get someone out ASAP. Was not a smart decision on my part but I tend to trust people too much and figured I wouldn't get ripped off. Was taken back by the $70 diagnostic fee but figured, hey, they have to get paid too. Less than 1 week later I call because we are not getting any air flow to the upstairs bedrooms and figured since I was already a customer, and had someone already out less than a week ago, that they would work with us and not charge us another $70 diagnostic fee. I was wrong. Poor business that is only interested in getting your $. They say that they want 100% satisfaction. Well, I am far from satisfied and will take my money elsewhere. In 2010, I purchased a new furnace, humidifier and whole house a/c unit from PVA. One year later the furnace transformer died. They charged me $167 for labor and parts. Today (11/24/15) my humidifier transformer died. They quoted me $172 just for the transformer plus a labor charge. I quickly looked to Amazon.com to see what they had. A Honeywell replacement transformer can be had online from Amazon for $15.11. While I was still stuck with the service call cost (the very nice tech was already at my house) but I refused to buy the transformer. Had they offered it for even $50 I might have bought it but the audacity of PVA to sell a part at that price markup is beyond fair to its customers of which I am now a 'former' customer. read more
