I decided to walk down Rue Saine-Catherine to see if anything stood out to me. Patty Slaps caught my eye as soon as I passed it, and since burgers sounded good we decided to check it out. Patty Slaps is a fast casual spot. Walking in, we were greeted by a large, open space with communal tables the main production area towards the back. Ordering is done on kiosks up front - the menu is somewhat limited, but they have several types of burgers which are able to be customized to your liking. I didn't want to get too big of a burger, so I went with the Patty Jr. and customized some of the sauces. The burger itself was good, albeit I'm glad I got the junior size as it was a little too greasy for my liking - it had that glazed doughnut look. We also got some poutine to share which was good but not the best I've had in the city. Service was fast, and overall I enjoyed my meal at Patty Slaps. It's good for what it is, and I wouldn't be mad if circumstances found me here in the future.

Compared to other fries I've had, these definitely past the test in pairing with the burgers. They also serve beers on draft, along with a ton of options that aren't the typical soda options. They seemed to be intentional with their options, which I appreciate. I'd say this place has a lot of potential of being the burger and late night spot in Verdun, given that they close at 10PM and have more options than just burgers and fries, but also a chicken sandwich, salad, different kinds of fries and poutine, along with different kinds of sweet drink options such as frappes, limonades, wine, and even cocktails! I'd say if there was a place of opportunity, without getting into the nitty gritty details that I typically care to comment on, I'd say it'd be the lighting. It's so bright, almost hospital like. I went on their second day of being open and for the ramen hot dog and the Gamsung hotdog (mozzarella cheese deep fried with pieces of French fried potatoes on top). Both were delicious but my favourite was definitely the ramen, it was so crunchy. You order on the right hand side of the restaurant and then wait in the line on the left hand side to receive your food (pay attention to your number as they will call it out to let you in the restaurant to pick up). Once you pick up your order you have a choice of 8 sauces. My server put a bit too much so I say less is more when it comes to sauces. They have a menu on the side with their recommendations of sauce to put on which Kogo. You also don't want to overwhelm the Kogo with too much sauce because there's so much to taste already. I put spicy mayo, mayo, and honey mustard on both of my Kogos and it was too much. The sauces were good but it just got too much. If you want to put more than one sauce, ask the server to only put a little. My friend got the volcano with chill sauce and recommends that one. He also got the ramen hot dog with spicy mayo and he said it was a bad pairing, he thought the spicy mayo would've been good on another hot dog. I also got the pineapple juice and it was pretty good! I ordered the Mac and cheese and the Becky sliders. I was very pleasantly surprised by the Mac and cheese, and if you know me you know that's high praise. I am very passionate about Mac and cheese. The cheese is creamy without being sticky, and it's seasoned just right as to taste the cheese but with a kick. The sandwich was also great, the chicken was really juicy without being too watery or too hot with the fried portion slipping off.
