I recently visited Pounders Hawaiian Grill in Crestview, and I can honestly say the food has definitely improved since my last visit. The Kahlua pig stood out right away--it's no longer overly salty, which is a great sign that they've made real improvements in both preparation and consistency. The new location clearly brought a fresh revitalization to both the crew and the food. Everything felt more energized and well put together. The decor was modern and definitely fit the local vibe. The young man who checked us out at the register was especially kind and laid-back. He seemed fairly new and a bit shy, but his customer service was excellent and very welcoming. My cousin ordered the teriyaki steak, which unfortunately came out a bit tough and cold at first and had to be sent back. However, she did admit that once corrected, it was really good, and the staff handled the issue appropriately. Overall, this location shows noticeable improvement compared to past visits. The macaroni salad is a big hit and continues to be a standout side. And the teriyaki sauce used on both the steak and chicken is absolutely amazing--so good it honestly deserves to be bottled and sold for retail. We'll definitely be back to see how they continue to grow and improve.

I was just reading some of the reviews. I remember your little red truck over by Johnny Quigleys. Pounders has became the new benchmark in food around the Crestview area!!It is now been over 6years. I cannot believe it's been that long anyway I directed hundreds of people during my work and almost all of them,Bring me back free lunch. It's great but it's nice to see a small business in Crestview thrive and set a very high standard that most businesses can barely keep up with and they have great parking and a playground for the kids, but it's one of those places you love to take your family too. You know on a Saturday afternoon and after that's all done you finish up and have a banging bowl which is another treat on the same location as they are now on old Bethel please go by they don't need the business but they need the smiles

Side Teriyaki Chicken, Side Garlic Chicken & Side Kalua Pig, Side Teriyaki Steak. Sooo delicious!

Went with some friends, very nice service, employees were very kind and quick to answer any questions. The restaurant was clean and honestly very aesthetic. Now the most important part, the food was good and filling, I got a plate with the pasta salad, teriyaki chicken and rice. The pasta salad was AMAZING, the chicken was good, and the rice was good for rice. I also got a musubi and it was my favorite part of the meal. Overall, I'd definitely recommend!

Beef Stew Special for the month of April.

Pounders in Crestview is on point big shout out to its manager Napu. The atmosphere is inviting bringing in that aloha spirit. Its good to go into an Island restaurant and actually see some island staff back on the grill. The beef stew was on special I bel8eve for the month of April. Very hearty stew especially if you want to knock the kids out for the evening. The stew as they say in Hawaii "Broke Da Mouth"..lol...Must try their other items from the misusing ro the garlic chicken, teriyaki beef and teriyaki chicken..the kalua pork is on point also have to try their kalua pork sandwich when its available. The mac salad is a good compliment. Pounders in Crestview check dem out.

Five star reviews on Yelp are usually worth the drive and this was no disappointment! The reviews cover everything nicely except I think they're in a new location. It has a lovely outdoor playground and a couple of food trucks for some dessert options.

I was super excited to find a Hawaiian plate lunch place. Being a local girl from Maui I was not disappointed. The place is very clean and lots of aloha with how they decorated the inside. Lots of reference to the Hawaiian culture. Aloha first as their uniforms say. Too bad no merchandise was available for sale. I would have bought a shirt or pullover. The food was delicious and my only dislike was that they ruined my rice with that sauce. I prefer my sticky rice plain, so it can enhance the flavor of the meat. It was a sweet sauce but wasn't teriyaki. The macaroni salad was very close to back home, so I give them props for that. Also service is quick.

Any gluten free options?

Aloha Annie, Our Garlic Chicken and Kalua Pig are both gluten-free. Just be sure to request no teriyaki sauce on the plate because we do by default put our house teriyaki…

It was our first time in Destin and honestly, we were a little disappointed by most of the food…read morechoices we'd made up to that point. We decided to venture out beyond Destin and do some exploring -- and that's when we stumbled on Maui Bus Stop in Fort Walton Beach. So glad we did. The loco moco was great, the teriyaki steak was smoky, well seasoned, and tender, exactly what you want. The mac salad side was creamy and just a little sweet, a perfect complement. And the prices? $10 for a loco moco is absolutely insane in the best way possible. Worth the short drive from Destin. If you're staying in the area and tired of the tourist trap spots, do yourself a favor and find this place. A total hidden gem.

Tried Maui Bus Stop and honestly was very disappointed. The small plate came with 2 scoop of rice…read moreand steak, but the steak was super dry, burnt, and tough. Spam musubi falling apart quick when my girl picked it up (it should stay together until you bite that sh*) The smothered sauce tasted like mostly soy sauce mixed with cornstarch, and too sweet.. poured over the meat. The rice and musubi were bland and not seasoned at all, and the overall taste was very plain. The BBQ/teriyaki chicken was also burnt and cold when served. To make it worse, the portion size was VERY small for over $12. The quality, portion size, and taste did not match the charge at all. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it wasn't what I thought.

10/10 Experience at Papa Nalu…read more If you're anywhere near this gem, RUN, don't walk to Papa Nalu! I had the absolute pleasure of being served by Leilani, and let me tell you, she made the entire experience unforgettable. Her service was not only warm and attentive, but her menu recommendations were spot on. It turns out her dad is the chef and owner, which made her insights into the menu even more special... you could feel the pride in every dish she described! I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke with white rice, and it was genuinely one of the best poke bowls I've ever had, super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. We also couldn't resist trying the tacos and ended up getting both the blackened and fried versions. Honestly, I couldn't pick a favorite, they were both outrageously good! From the food to the friendly vibes, this place is a total win. You can taste the love in every bite, and the hospitality from Leilani made it even better. Highly, highly recommend, can't wait to go back!

Ambiance - nice clean pleasant music and not too loud. Their floor does need a deep cleaning…read more Service - Lauren was our waitress. She was quick and efficient. She even brought out a cleaning rag and drying rag when my 87 yo mother complained that the table top was sticky. It wasn't. It was the topping on the table. Food - I'm not a fan of can soda instead of a fountain drink, but restaurants need to do what makes financial sense to them. The coconut shrimp was brought in ie NOT FRESH. The sweet and sour sauce was nothing special. The macaroni salad was ok nothing special. Rice is rice and the broccoli was not over cooked. My blackened mahi mahi was good. They actually know how to blacken a fish. AMAZING. The Mauna Kea sauce was ok, nothing special. Please explain what makes this a Hawaiian restaurant? Is it the little cups of "Hawaiian" sauces? Funny I don't remember them when I was in Maui.
