Stopped by this place on Hwy 85 just off I-10. Wow. Great seafood. We had fried grouper, grilled amberjack, hushpuppies, slaw, green beans and cheese grits. Everything was excellent. This is a order at the counter, call your number to come get your food kind of place. You sit a laminated picnic tables in an enclosed dining area. We had a great dinner. Usually this is a great place but our meal tonight was so bad the fish sandwich dinner had to be thrown away! The grilled fish sandwich had a very small piece of fish but the sandwich was mostly liquid coleslaw on a bun which made the whole thing nothing but mush. It was taken back to the counter and the employee just said 'that is the way it is made' and turned around . She offered nothing to make things right. No new sandwich, no refund, nothing. This is very disappointing since we patronize this restaurant quite often. I took a picture of the sandwich but it was such a mushy mess, it would make one sick looking at it. I dont know if we will ever go back since the employee did not care one bit. I hope management takes note of this review. read more

We skipped the bigger chain restaurants and decided to give Stewby's Seafood Shanty a try instead. I ordered the blackened grouper basket with hush puppies, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. The fish was flaky with just the right amount of seasoning, and the hush puppies were crisp on the outside and soft inside. The food was unexpectedly great. It's a small shanty for sure with a great wrap around enclosed porch for seating. It is extremely clean considering we had just came in from a heavy rain. The staff are very helpful for someone that was visiting for the first time. We had the grilled amberiack with coleslaw and their cucumber salad. The fried popcorn shrimp with baked beans, fried okra and hush puppies. Everything was seasoned nicely while being cooked just right. We will definitely be back. read more

ok let me start by saying I would give you a 5 star but I had a bad experience.... on our way back from Kentucky, we stop through the driveway to order food.... I ordered catfish/shrimp dinner and shrimp/oyster dinner... also an order of onion rings.... the catfish and the onion rings wasn't in there.... we were just getting back from my nephew funeral... to tired to go back... I called back and she told me it was nothing they could do...... long story short, I didn't like how she didn't want to compensate me.... you all have the best restaurant and I'm so disappointed that I experienced this.... I've gotta say that you cannot go wrong eating here unless you don't like seafood. I tried the Amberjack and it was amazing and I've never heard of it before. Best hush puppies I've ever eaten. Thanks to the young ladies that recommended the coleslaw and green beans. They too were delicious. The staff were sweet, kind and very friendly. Stewby's put Crestview on the map. Before then, and the arrival of a couple other new restaurants we were in trouble here in Crestview with stewby's and a couple other places have helped out quite a bit lately. Such a good job. I have not had a chance to try any specials yet, I kind of wish they had some because some evenings I feel like dining and just like something a little different. My wife and I we actually share a colossal dinner. It's huge. It's got a super giant shrimp. It's enough to fill us up and it's got two sides, but everything is good and I'm very pleased that you guys have moved in here and I know quite a few people also think the same way. But anyway, thank you guys for your hard work and doing such a great job with the seafood to do seafood right you've got a treat it right and take care of it and you guys do. Thank you very much and your food is excellent. PS I forgot to mention coleslaw, killer potato salad, killer french fries killer everything on the menu is just killer, but you guys make everything and it really shows. If you haven't been there you're in for a great treat. You definitely cannot buy anything better than Stewby's down at the beach , it's not nearly as expensive. You won't spend $90 on a plate. Just try it out you'll like it and it's kind of a neat place to eat and not during the day but at night I find it a little warm but have a great day everybody does. read more

Two Fried catfish dinners with potato salad, green beans, Cole slaw and baked beans were excellent. Fish was perfectly fried, sides were spot on and the iced tea was large with lots of ice. Prices are very reasonable $40 for 2 people! Four stars because: Fix the loud speaker so people in the back can hear their number called. I have been eating at Stewbys for years. I was so happy they built one in Crestview! I go at least once a week. Well today I finally decided to try their gumbo. I am hooked! I had fried grouper and it was excellent! People were super friendly. The show stealer for me were the hush puppies... they were AWESOME! I was on a work trip to the area and have mentioned it to my wife countless times about how good they are! Perfectly seasoned and cooked. The onion rings were not on a menu that I saw, but a plate of them came out while I was there and they looked amazing. Trying those next time I am in town. Overall, awesome experience.
