Generally good food (at least for a bar) and REALLY good drinks! I would highly recommend a "purple otter pop" (aka as a triple p)! The service is awesome, check it out more than once and they are sure to remember your drink! Pool is free on Sundays and live bands occasionally play here. if you are traveling between I-90 and HWY 2 you are bound to pass petes Grill-Pub! A stop on the well known oyester run and generally cool dive bar i suggest you stop and have a drink. The food is good for a bar, i haven't eaten very much on the menu, however i have friends who live nearby and eat there regularly. The reason i like petes is good drinks not too strong not to weak, a good selection of micro brews for the discerning and Rainier or Olympia if your so inclined. The clientele is mixed so anyone can get away with being in there. Petes is generally friendly and includes big tvs, pool tables, darts and other games! Check it out if your driving by!! read more

Flies.... so many flies. I took out a couple that landed on me, but there were dozens upon dozens of flies in this bar. They were on the TVs, they were on the tables, they were everywhere, and I mean, it's getting cold outside, it is autumn, I do not see flies outside right now. Disgusting. Not sure how people can eat in this place. We go to Pete's frequently, alternating between here, the Last Frontier tavern, and the Duvall Tavern. Usually a fan of all three. I don't know what was going on yesterday (7/15/18) at Pete's, but it's some of the worst customer service I've experienced around here as of late, and I worked in the service industry for over 10 years, so I'm normally pretty understanding of servers being busy or just flat out having a bad day. Our server was never outright rude to us (blonde, short & straight hair), but there were only a few tables outside with guests and it was slow inside as well. Two other employees who were eating outside before their shift started were also outside, and while our server never made rounds to fill drinks or ask if anything was ok, she frequently visited her coworkers table to chit chat. It was 85 degrees out so we went through our first waters pretty quick, and then when we made our food order we asked if she could bring more water and some side sauces. Never happened. After our food came, my boyfriend asked her again and she eventually brought out ranch, once again forgot water. My boyfriend walked the waters into the bar himself and had another server fill them, as our server looked on and never said anything. My boyfriend's burger was also completely wrong, he didn't want to complain but it was missing bacon, avocado, etc.. so he waved her back over after about 15 minutes and she said "oh I must have put in a different burger on the ticket." No, "I'm sorry, Ill fix it." so he just asked if she could bring out some bacon for it and that would be fine. She said sure and that it would be out in a few minutes.. never showed up. At this point I'm completely done with my meal. The table behind us then gets their food and you can tell they are also a little agitated that she hasn't been around to refill drinks. A few comments were made that she also got a few of their food orders wrong, too.. A younger server that was helping run food came up and they asked if they could get refills on pretty much everything because the server was nowhere to be seen. At least it wasn't just us! Finally, my boyfriend waved the same younger food runner down and asked if we could get our bill (probably 20 minutes after he had ordered the bacon that never showed). Our actual server came out a few minutes later and dropped our bill, never said anything about the bacon or messing up our order, but of course charged us for every extra sauce.. I've never seen my boyfriend tip under 20% but he was pissed, left her a dollar... While I'm usually really against that, she didn't deserve that much. Wish we could have just tipped the poor younger gal running her butt off for all the tables that weren't even hers. Im sure we'll be back because the food is pretty good and the location is perfect, but maybe have a talk with your servers about "customer service." It was clear that there were several unhappy tables that day. read more

This is the best grill and pub in Carnation. I come here often to enjoy the outdoor seating with large groups of friends. The staff are extremely nice. The price of food and drinks are just right. I don't know where Bob S. went to on 10/9 but it wasn't Pete's... They don't even have creamer on the tables. I've eaten there dozens of times and the food has always been fresh and well-cooked. My friend and I are Pete's regulars since we found it. The waitstaff knew us by name by the second visit, remember our usual drink and food orders, and are just flat-out awesome. Heidi is far and away our favorite waitress, mostly because she takes our crap with good humor and then gives it right back. (Kicking an offending empty ketchup bottle across the yard with while verbally castigating its' emptiness stands out as a memorable moment.) The menu is mostly is bar food, but tastier than the usual bar food. The deep fried green beans are addictive!! This is one of my favorite places to go for mixed drinks - they know how to make them and they're usually quite generous about size. Check out the awesome outdoor seating area in nice weather. Pete's grows their own herbs for use in specialty drinks and the grass, flowers and herbs in back give the area a nice feel. Also be sure to swing by for music on Fridays (but check the schedule for music to your taste since the selection varies and Metal Madness night caught me off guard one evening.) Anyone and everyone will feel like they fit in at Pete's. I've never found another pub that has such a neighborhood feel. read more

Have visited Pete's for years now, since when it was owned by Don. The food has been consistently good and nice friendly staff with a great atmosphere. As a lover of dark beer, I used to enjoy the Porter there served in a chilled glass. Sadly the new owners seem to have dropped this and the only dark beer available is the usual Guinness. There are around 10 taps on the counter, apart from the Guinness one, all are light or amber beers. The darkest they have is Mac and Jacks. Considering the many excellent micro breweries producing a wide range of oat beers, Porters and dark ales relatively locally, it's sad to see that Pete's are sticking with the same old beers. Come on Pete's bring back a local Porter or two. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in Carnation. I probably eat lunch here once a week. Burgers are fine, the lunch special is uniformly an excellent bet. Service at lunchtime is friendly, fast, and attentive. Prices are good. With free wifi, at lunchtime it's a favorite for contractors and other folks needing to do a bit of email. It's a common place for large family groups at lunchtime as well. The outdoor seating is nice in the summer. Good food, good prices, good service with a big smile. read more

Easter 2013 at Petes. My wife and I shared a sampler and a bacon cheese burger. Sample is all fried but very nicely fried. Mini corn dogs, potatoe frys, onion rings, fried cheese and chicken strips. Everything was very good. Clean hot grease was jused and well drained; no greasy fingers to be found and all were nice and hot. The bacon burger was also excellent with two hught 1.5 in wide thich sliced bacon cooked just right as the the beef patty with fresh onion, lettuce, tomatoe. Just a really good burger. Price seem typical for these days. Service was a bit spotty but the delivered food was hot. Menu was extensive so we are going back to try the chicken fried steak. This place has a wide variety to choose from. It's generally pretty good eats. I have had several things on the menu Wings, Burgers, Nachos, Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwhich all were good. But it always depends on who is in the kitchen and who's your server. We love Dawn she knows what we like, how we like it, and takes care of us. If you go in see if she is working and can take care of you. They also have a pretty good breakfast as well. This is a good little place to have a local meal thats good. Stopped by Pete's for lunch with a party of six. Despite the fact that the Seahawks were on the tube, the place was quiet enough to converse with and hear everybody at the table. Four of us ordered breakfast just before the noon stop time for that meal, and the other three ordered fish and chips. The fish and chips came out 15 minutes after everybody else's food. The waitress messed up the bills, putting coffee on some that didn't order it and not on some who did. The fish was meh, panko crusted. It was all OK, but nothing to write home about. read more

Pete's is my consistent favorite in the Valley. Most of my visits are in the morning or afternoon, so when I say it's a relaxed, friendly place, factor in that I'm not sure how it is in the evenings. But for breakfast or lunch, we find it to be consistently welcoming, with warm, familiar service that is prompt and accurate. I've tried a number of things for both breakfast and lunch, and never been disappointed. For breakfast, I particularly like the biscuits and gravy (and a bloody mary or two). For lunch, just about anything on the menu will please, and the cheesy tots are great. I wouldn't mind if they had a few more taps, but there's always something good to drink. Consistent quality isn't so easy to find in the Valley, and Pete's has it. read more

This is probably our favorite local place, we love to walk down and bring our dog. Very very dog friendly and so are the customers, nothing better than being welcomed into a place and your dog is welcomed to! Thank you so much Pete's staff for being so great to pit bulls! I hate to say it, but tonight was a disaster at Pete's. My family arrived at about 7:45, and didn't make it out until 9:50. The service was slower than slower, waitress (although nice) was forgetful and a little dismissive at times. A refill on some pop took over 15 minutes, our food took about 45 minutes to show up and when it did, it was cold and the soup was distasteful. My salad was semi-warm. I understand it was busy and there is not much staff, but I should not have to wait almost an hour to be served my main course. read more

Also don't know what the real story behind expiration dated on individual creamers are but after looking through the creamers on 3 tables I had to ask for some that was less than two weeks past expiration. This is not a place to go with a large group! It took over 2 hours to get the food. We ordered a few items to-go and they forgot one of the orders which we didn't realize untl we got home and gave us something that we didn't order. Everyone was ordering regular stuff, burgers, sandwich's, etc...nothing that should have taken 2 hours! To top it off the fries were so salty and greasy. My wife and I stopped in for dinner on our way through Carnation last night, and will most likely never be back. Don't get me wrong; our waitress was wonderful, and the food delicious! Why would we never want to go then, you ask? Let me explain... It was about 6pm on a Sunday when we stopped at Pete's. A time frame you would think would be rather low key to enjoy a (somewhat) quiet meal. Boy were we wrong! A woman sitting at the bar with her husband was obviously drunk and being VERY obnoxious. And the best part? From her loud drunken rantings I gathered that they were THE OWNERS of the place. I felt sorry for our poor waitress as I could see her getting very frustrated, and even asked the woman to stop cussing and swearing a couple times; to which this peach obviously was not listening, because she just kept getting louder, and louder...and louder. As good as the food was, it was impossible to fully enjoy our meal, and frankly I had a bit of a headache when we left. Not only that, but they had their dog, a very large German Shepard, sitting in the bar with them...wtf is that?? Isn't that against health code regulation? The place was a zoo because of these two! Maybe things are a lil' different in a small town like Carnation, but I know that where I come from the way those two were acting was preposterous, and extremely unprofessional. We'll never be going back, because if that's what it's like on a Sunday night, I'd hate to see the way people act on a Friday or Saturday. read more
