I have to say- this is one of my favorite haunts. Always a cool crowd, fun things going on during the week and the food is by far my favorite pub food. Do yourself a favor and have the Irish stew. Absolutely disgusting place. If you are a POC they will be racist towards you and the staff does absolutely nothing. Went in last night to celebrate my brother's birthday, they paid for the pool table to play at and the people standing there were saying if you want the table you gotta lose to us which was stupid bc WE PAID FOR THE TABLE. Then he continued by calling us habibis and the bartender was absolutely unprofessional when we asked her to kick him out bc we felt uncomfortable she said she will but she sat him at the bar instead laughing with him about the situation. If I could give this place 0 starts I would. It was my first time going to this place and I will never return. Just know if you go to this place the staff don't care about your comfortability. Came for trivia last night, great host and the ambiance was perfect. The food and drinks are great and not too expensive. Food portions are huge! The service however is a completely different story. 2 bartenders for the entire place, they were busy (not surprising) and just waiting to get a menu took a long time. One bartender was pretty polite, but the other one seemed annoyed whenever I asked for anything, food OR drinks. He was rude to me and my entire party (they brought it up once I pointed out his behavior). Very condescending and sarcastic little comments when trying to order a simple drink. This is an update. Came in on Sat @ 2p, place was already crowded. Got their regular Pub Cheeseburger, but there was nothing regular about it. It was OUTSTANDING. The patty was at least 1/2 lb and fresh. The bun was a brioche and you can choose from cheddar (real cheddar not Kraft slices), pepper jack, & Swiss. The lettuce was crisp and the red onions were actually sweet. The salt & pepper fries were fresh like at In & Out only BETTER. Burger is served with fries and costs $10.50. I kid you not, it was a gourmet burger and worth every penny. Service was fast. Got Stella Artois on tap for only $5.50 for a 16oz pour. The cook is really an unsung hero. No matter what you order he does not disappoint. Jessica the bartender is always a blast. PIP=good food, good beer, good service. So why aren't you there now?! read more

I grew up in Poway. Loved Coming here with all my Poway friends, mostly locals for 15 years maybe more. I Recommended a Co-worker to go with his friends to The Poway irish pub, When they got there it was CLOSED at 12:35am on 10/11/23. I myself today on 10/12 went there at 12:35am to see if they were open cause YELP AND GOOGLE says that they are open till 2:00am...............This place gone downhill or what. When I got there 2 drunk couple in a Tundra was in front of the pub with some hispanic chick with a baby blue backpack, I kindly asked if they were open, the blonde passenger in the Tundra said it was open and the hispanic chick said it was not. I raised my voice and asked if it was open and they said yes and tip them well please like 20 bucks the Blonde drunk passenger said. I asked ok I know this place and I tried pulling the door and it was closed. Stupid drunk blonde and hispanic chick are just damn rude and disrespectful. Great Drunk locals you keep around in front of the Pub. This place was fun once upon a time. Now it's just drunk rude locals that love to hangout at after hours in front of the pub. When I was walking back to my car a person in a black hoodie came out of the Pub that was closed and i asked nicely why the Pub isn't open till 2:00am??? and he said hes not the owner. Looks like a hangout spot for the owners friends.....who knows. Atleast change your Closing times on Google and Yelp accordingly so theres NO Confusion. I ended up going to the Irish pub in Carmel Mountain which was open till 2am. Good Beer too I totally recommend for a late night beer after 12:45am. Not being open when Google maps and Yelp said they are open till 2am........If it's because of too many accidents on the 67 I totally understand. Just save people not wasting their time coming to a pub that is supposed to be open till 2am isn't. Usually I do not write something like this but in this case it needed to be escalated. Today I wanted to try Irish food so I came here to this pub for some semi authentic cuisine. I ordered a Grilled Corn Beef Sandwich on Rye that came with a side of chips and I also ordered the famous Paddy Balls which came with sides of ranch and chipotle dressing. Everything was actually really good! I came in with lower expectations simply because Irish food is one of the more blander food cultures in the world, but I was really taken back by the Paddy Balls, wow! I also tried Corn Beef for the first time ever and I thought it wasn't as bad as I thought. Prices were a little high here but I guess that's expected for a Pub. Definitely a cool spot to hit up for Pub food! read more

This is not an Irish Pub. I emailed the place because I wanted to celebrate my 40th years old, on Wednesday, and I asked if they had a live band, and they said "no, but on Wednesdays we have - Name that tune - a very fun game from 7-9pm" so I decided to give it a try. I invite a couple of friends and I arrived there at 6h30p. I got in shocked when I entered the place: it was playing Rap/Hip Hop songs VERY LOUD (really - I cant stand this music style - but because I thought this was an Irish Pub, they would play some kind of rock n roll?). My husband and I sat in a table (it was dirty, but the other table was also dirty so...)... the place was empty, around 8/9 people there.... I saw a girl with the place shirt drinking at the bar, I believe it was a waitress, but in 20 min - no one - no one - came to serve or talk to us. After that, a guy screams from the bar "Hey, are you waiting for someone?" . I felt extremely weird. We said, yes a couple of friends. After 20 minutes finally the guy turn off the loud hip hop and the music was better. We got up and pick the menu at the bar and .... really, a sandwich $14? Well my friends arrived at 7p, and we waited for more 15 min. No one. No "game". Nothing. So we left and went to another place. I have been to Irish Pubs, and I can say, this was the most unfriendly pub I have ever been. My first time trying food at the Irish Pub. It's a dive bar but that doesn't bother me. A friendly bartender took my phone order to-go and I was told a 15-20 minute pick up time; it ended up being more like 35 minutes, so I just waited more...even though it was only 2pm and not busy. I got home and the Pub Cheeseburger wasn't very good. The cook forgot the bacon that I paid extra for...and the cheese. (*Note - Customers hate that when that happens). I love burgers but this one was a real disappointment, dry with no condiments. The Onion Rings were good and crunchy. The Fish & Chips were fantastic! Huge flakey cod fish filets that actually had flavor. I'll go back but just for the Fish & Chips even though the fries were soggy. read more

Luck of the Irish wasn't with us at this place. The $10 cover charge to get in on St. Patrick's Day really chapped my ass! With everything that was going on, they weren't serving their regular menu. So we didn't get to try the shepherd's pie tacos, corned beef quesadillas, Irish dip, Dublin burger, or paddy balls (fried mashed potatoes​). That stuff was the main reason why we went here. Whoever heard of Celtic hot dogs? Ended up settling for regular shepherd's pie and grilled corned beef on rye. They were still surprisingly scrumptious. Their fries, er chips, were certainly better than expected. High marks for that. For drinks, a dark and stormy was on my mind, but I thought I should get something green. Thankfully they had Midori and I was able to get a melon ball. Manhattans were out of the question because they didn't have any vermouth. What kind of bar has absolutely no vermouth?! At least we got some of those plastic bead necklaces like the ones they wear at Mardi Gras, except with shamrocks on them. read more

Somewhat unassuming dive ish bar on the main drag of Poway. It's the kind of place you go to if you have no bar to call home. Not full of a bunch of strangers. Locals, but not regulars. The patio is curbside where most bars due to noise and disturbance the patio is in the back. You might be confused about the front door situation. There are 2 very close together. The first few times I came here was either day time or just off work up the road, but you'd always be able to find a few people inside it's never really dead. The last few times I've come on a Sunday and Monday night and it was packed. I usually come underdressed in gym clothes or lately overdressed it's a t-shirt and jeans kinda of place. A normal amount of taps with expected variety, pricing is about what a dive ish bar would cost. They ID here, so don't be surprised. A funky looking orange felted pool table they have 2, but only 1 looks out of place. The classic low hanging lighting and bathrooms at the near end. Plenty of tables and some outdoor seating they have that washer toss in the back that can get annoying from the CLANG, but it's usually drowned out a bit by the ambient bar noise. Going against my rule I've actually eaten here. Just appetizers, but be warned the Irish Nacho's have refried beans which as we all know is a staple to the traditional Irish diet. Potato planks seem more fried than baked. I feel pretty comfortable here, but it takes a lot for me to feel uncomfortable at a bar. I kind of wish they had a fire pit though. The bartenders are pretty good and since most people drink beer here it makes all of our lives a little easier. They could use a little weed wacking in the back as the shrubbery is invading the patio space. It's well lit and especially during sunset you get this great ambient glow from the hills. read more

Really terrible meal tonight. Halfway through my hamburger I bit into something that felt like sand. Don't know if it was from the hamburg or what, but that was the end of dinner. The meat also had a lot of gristle. When I told the waitress about the hamburger her only comment was in the six years she has worked there no one has ever complained about the hamburger. I've been here several times and always enjoyed the drinks. Today we were told we had to order food with our drinks and show proof that we had masks. No problem. We were hungry anyway. We sat at the bar and ordered a cheeseburger and the Pub Dip. The burger was so overcooked, it was absolutely inedible. The dip was a French roll with ground meat which tasted like it came out of the microwave. No cheese. The bartender is sweet and she brought me some horseradish. The Au Jous tasted like dishwater. The fries were also overcooked and so doused with salt and pepper, we left them uneaten. It's probably the worst meal I've had since moving to Poway and it's definitely not worth the inflated prices. It's an Irish pub but not really Irish in Poway... The food is absolutely fantastic! Can't get enough of it. They have many beers on tap and their happy hour is good. The staff is very nice and they have trivia on Thursdays. The only negative I have about the place is the people. Some of the regulars isn't my crowd. read more

My friend and I were really hoping to enjoy this place, based on many of the reviews. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday night. The establishment was very small and felt cramped and the music playing was SO LOUD. It wasn't crowed at all, so my friend and I took a seat thinking we'd just ask them to turn the volume down a bit when our order was taken. No on ever came over to check on us or even acknowledge we were there. We couldn't hear each other talk it was so bad. We left and went to Mainstream. Much better. read more
