I'm to be honest and say what we're all aware of and that is that anyone who leaves reviews on yelp is a crazy person. That being said, I am compelled to leave this review I called this store and told the owner that I was in a rush to buy some hunting equipment and was prepared to come in and purchase some immediately and I confessed that I was ill-informed on the type of equipment I needed. Instead of telling me to come into his store, and then up selling me on equipment, he said, and I quote " Cape Cod gun (I forget the the name) has better stuff for what you're looking for even though they are my competitor so I think you should go to them." A very good old school New England fishing and gun store. Everytime I am down on the Cape, we make the effort to stop in and buy at least a couple of boxes of ammunition. Been to this store about a couple dozen times. They know me by sight, and all are friendly. They have everything. Great selection on hand guns, rifles, very large and fast moving selection used firearms. They carry a ton of ammo, several manufacturers and calibers. When on the Cape and you're wanting to get something gun related... this is the place to go. Very friendly folks, great to interact with and ask questions or just share a laugh. Recently bought a used shotgun from here and would 10/10 recommend Powderhorn. Made the trip down to a competitors shop where they did not have the gun I was looking for, for the price I wanted to spend. Came here on a whim before striking out and I am glad I did. The younger gentleman behind the counter in the firearms section was very helpful and most definitely did not up sell me on a shotgun I didn't need. Keith C. is SO right about this place! I went in there to buy my first handgun and was absolutely treated like dirt. Apparently, being the only game in town has given them the luxury of humiliating customers who don't just plunk down their money on the table as soon as they walk in. Don't dare ask more than a single question or you're in for a ration of crap! Actually, on my FIRST question, the older guy started laying into me with some serious attitude. I let it slide since I wondered if I asked something stupid, but every time I opened my mouth he comes back with some serious sarcasm. Then he barks at me real loud cause we both started talking at the same time and he didn't like being interrupted. Finally, I told him off and he really gets pissed off and throws his hands up in the air so I walked out of the place. I told some guys at my gym about it and they went, "Yup, that's the Powderhorn"! I asked about 3 gun-related questions and even told them it was my first handgun... I guess that's when they smelled blood and hit me like an injured minnow - I didn't even mention anything about prices, so I can imagine how THAT would have turned out! As Keith C. said, Four Seasons in Woburn is awesome. I went there after this place and it was a completely different experience, not to mention the best price I could find. ALL the guys seemed realy cool, exceptionally informative and patient. I wouldn't even go back to Powderhorn to buy fishing line. read more

Do I really have to add a star? I went in to this place today to try and find a holster. I didn't have it with me so the guy behind the counter began to verbally berate me for trying to find a holster without the gun. Comparing trying to buy a "generator" for a car without the car. His words not mine. A simple "you should really have the piece with you" would have sufficed. Instead of raising his voice and acting unprofessional. To say I was treated like dirt is an understatement and frankly I'm shocked that with all the guns in that place this guy hasn't taken any fire. Horrible read more

Sorry, but I have to confirm the previous writers. I took their weapons course and firing range qualification, got my FID, and went to see about purchasing a weapon. The old guy at the counter was condensending and rude when asked about various options and implied I was wasting his time. As a prior small business owner, I have fired employees for being rude to customers, but this seems to be business as usual for this place. Too bad no competition, but will go off Cape for all hunting/fishing products in the future. read more
