For several years I've taken classes here or gone to the range with friends, but last month I finally bit the bullet and became a member. The store is great but the gun range I had a big problem with there was no range officer in the shooting area my brother had a problem with the new gun he bought there and I had to go out and get someone I was so uncomfortable I didn't go back in I didn't shoot at all also we were sold ammo for the shotgun that turned out to be bird shot which would of got us in trouble if there was a range officer in there it completely destroyed our target causing my brother to finish early he shot both are targets this is a massive safety violation and I will take steps to inform people read more

I took the women's basic firearms safety course with live fire and it was a great one to take. Informative and also fun because you get to do hands on experience. Our instructor Nichole was amazing. She individually make sure that all of us are safe. I'm a left hand and right eye dominant so she makes sure that I am comfortable using a pistol even if I'm the only one that is different from the group. read more

My husband and I had a private lesson with Glenn. I had never held a gun before and felt very nervous and was quite intimidated walking into the range. However, Glenn immediately put my mind at ease. He obviously had years of experience in training, with just the right mix of professionalism and light heartedness. This was my first experience with Cape Gun Works. I took one of their introductory handgun classes as a refresher. Glenn, our instructor did a great job. He was very engaging, gave great detailed explanations and examples, and he kept the class moving along. Range time was well organized and again, Glenn stepped up and provided good safe management of the range while a bunch of mostly noobs, myself included, tried to figure things out. I had some issues and got some really good 1x1 from Glenn that helped me immensely and gave me lots to work on in the future. All in all it was a really nice, relaxed, educational experience, highly recommended. While there I had the time to browse through the nicely stocked, well organized store, and to see the rest of their facility which really is first class. I am pretty sure it is going to be my go-to from now on, and I am looking forward to taking some of the more advanced classes offered. read more

We took our second refresher lesson with Glenn Wilcox. He is so professional and so knowledgeable. We needed a refresher course he gave it to us. Patient, understanding and informative and an excellent teacher. Taught us how to load our guns safely with a loaded chamber-and then took us out on gave us training on different scenarios of an unexpected intruder in our home. Placed an order for an item that was available in store. Called to find out when it would be available for pickup only to be told in store meant it was at their distributor and would take a couple weeks. Fast forward two plus weeks, left a voice mail as I couldn't get a live person during business hours asking for an update. Nothing. Sent an email with the same question. Got an email back saying the order was cancelled, the item was no longer in stock. Guessing they didn't order from their distributor fast enough and I lost out on the item to some other shop who is on the ball. First and only experience is poor. Cape Gun Works takes the edge off for the novice. Every personal interaction has been positive. My wife and I took the license to carry course here. Although there was a cross section of people in the course from novice to experienced security guards, the information presented was well paced. Surprisingly the average age in this course was probably 55 - which shocked me. I understand they have LTC courses for ladies only on occasion, but rest assured, my wife felt perfectly at ease with the regular course. As we await (and wait) the arrival of our LTC cards from the commonwealth, we finally got a chance to try out Friday "date night". For a modest price, they set you up with everything you need... hearing and eye protection, a gun of your choice, a box of the proper ammunition, a target, and an instructor to guide you the whole time. This was a great way to take the fear/edge off for newcomers... the last time I had fired any kind of (real) gun was when I was a teenager - over 50 years ago! We got to take the target home... which I must say was presentable. (We started off at 5 yards, but we increased the distance to 10 yards as our comfort level grew.) We are not the "prototypical" gun protagonists (ok, we lean liberal), but gun use/ownership should not be a litmus test to party affiliation - it should be non-denominational. Here at Cape Gun Works you should feel comfortable, as you gain the knowledge you desire/require/are constitutionally afforded. We did, and we expect to continue our journey at Cape Gun Works. Update: After several "date-night" practice sessions, we finally received our LTC cards, shopped around, and then purchased our firearms here. My wife's choice was in stock; mine was ordered, and arrived in a few weeks. They offered the option of acting as the middle-man, and for a modest registration fee, having me order a firearm on-line, and having it shipped here. Their pricing was fair enough, so I ended up buying directly from Cape Gun Works. It was nice being able to then test our newly-acquired firearms at the range. read more

I visited Cape Gun Works for the first time today. I have to say that it was a great experience! I've used many different firearms over the years, but I've always been a guest of someone else and used their guns and ammunition. Recently receiving my class A large capacity LTC and purchasing my first firearm, i was going in by myself which was a little intimidating. I never fail to find every visit to Cape Gun Works time well spent. The staff are friendly, polite, and knowledgeable. CGW offers superb opportunities for firearm newcomers to gain proficiency and confidence in handling firearms. These range from courses and personal instruction, to events such as their popular Friday Date Nights, to range access and firearm rental. My wife and I first got acquainted with CGW, before we obtained our MA License to Carry, through their Friday Date Night. The $70 fee covered the rental of a hand gun, a box of ammunition, targets, and basic gun handling instruction. We had so much fun on our first outing that we set up a Date Night outing for several family and friend couples when they visited us a few weeks later. I have since taken CGW's Introduction to Pistol Handling course taught by Brenna Leary. Brenna is a tremendous instructor: she's knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging regardless of skill level. Several of the participants in the class drove almost two hours on the reputation of Brenna and this class. My wife will take this course with Brenna later this Fall, and I plan to take this course a second time if Brenna is teaching it.
