Always fix my lawn mower. 3rd time now, reasonable, cheap, (cheaper than they should be lol) and honest. Always been happy when I come here

Unethical business. 1) Brought mower in to have the carburetor rebuilt. They did, but also charged me for a tune-up without my permission. 2) Started it the next day and the engine was smoking. Turns out they forgot to add oil during the tune up that I never asked for. 3) Brought it back in since they didn't believe me. They added oil and I went on my way. Between the ride home and overnight, all the fuel had leaked out. 4) Brought it back in and they fixed the fuel line, but by morning, most of the oil had leaked out into our garage. 5) Brought it back in for a 4th time and they explained something else was broken. Not sure how they managed to create more problems then fix. Power at Hand is now the laughing stock of my neighborhood since I had to borrow neighbor's mowers all summer long. Condescending, rude, and inconsiderate sums up this place well. read more

I was more than a little frustrated when I found out that no one in town can work on Black and Decker electric mowers. When I called Power at Hand and spoke to Steve, he was so friendly and explained why (check out Dewalt). When I explained that it was just the blade, he offered to look at it. Within 15 minutes, he sharpened my blade, replaced it correctly, and sent me on my...$15. It works like a charm and I will be bringing it back for blade sharpening every season!! The first place I have taken my lawn mower to get fixed since buying my lawnmower new. I have a simple 6.5 Hp Briggs & Stratton push lawn mower that I purchased from Home Depot 5 years ago. The engagement handle snapped on me one Saturday, of course when my grass was well overdue for a cut. I called Home Depot to ask if they repair these type of things and the gentleman that answered referred me to Power At Hand off of Colfax. So of course, I call Power At Hand (303) 320-0249 and explain my small part replacement situation. The gentleman on the phone at Power At Hand was very helpful, deep voice, slower speaking repair man guy that you'd expect when asking to get your lawn mower fixed. I explained my problem and soon was searching for serial numbers on the mower to order the needed part. I was told 10 days or so for the part. I was okay with that, Home Depot could not help me. As I thought about this while waiting on the phone, I asked if I could just bring in the entire mower for a blade sharpening and overall maintenance look over. So, I scheduled a date with Mr. Mower. Received a courtesy call it was ready and now just picked it up 9 days later, a day earlier than expected. I guess I was way overdue on my mower maintenance and walked away with a perfectly running machine for my manscaping needs. They did a great job replacing almost everything for under $130.00 including; A/C Cart filter, Kit-carb overhaul, a new fuel cap, primer, spark plug, a new fuel line, 22oz 4 cycle oil, bail, a new cable control and a new hose clamp. After looking over this repair list, I guess I need to be more responsible with my lawn mower. Found the guys to do it for sure! read more

I just went in to get my lawn mower blade sharpened and I had a really good experience! I was greeted quickly and kindly and my lawn mower blade was done in no time. I got that done and purchased some oil for a super reasonable price. I'm also a big fan of supporting local businesses, so I'm glad I went there today. I'm sure I will have bigger needs in the future with my lawn mower and I know right where I'll go for repairs and tune-ups! read more

Called this morning to talk about my gas-powered leaf blower, brought it in this afternoon after a quick phone description that it would be $5 for a compression check to see if it would be worth investing repair $$ - very up front, great attitude. Did the compression check and went out of his way to explain the results and why it would be a waste of money to do anything other than buy new and replace. This is an excellent business! They're courteous, professional, knowledgeable and most of all, they treat their customers very fairly when it comes to price. My late deceased neighbor who was a retired dentist and Naval Lieutenant in WWII used to swear by Power at Hand and he had one of the finest lawns in all of Denver. Power at Hand used to keep his equipment in tip top condition, year after year. I began using them for spare and OEM parts about fifteen years ago as I work on my lawn mowers myself. Recently, one of the rear wheel adjusters severely malfunctioned and I brought the mower into the shop. This time of year, April... they're VERY busy. I was fortunate to have an old, spare Toro mower. Though I had to wait a couple of weeks for repair, and they told me this ahead of time, I left the mower in their care at the shop. When I picked it up, the mower was repaired and the cost was very reasonable. At other times of the year, the wait is much shorter. Kudos to Power at Hand for a job well done! read more

Although my dad loves this place, I have a different opinion. I have taken my lawn mower here for 2 years in a row...for the exact same problem...and here it is again...exact same time, exact same problem. Maybe the first time it was my fault (I've heard different stories about old gas), but the 2nd and third...Eek! Methinks not! It's never been a week (like they promise) but more of a month to a month and a half. I'd love to have another recommendation to take my lawn mower! My yard is becoming a jungle! read more

I bought a new Troy-Bilt lawnmower from a local big box (L###'s) lumber store. It only lasted 6 weeks when it wouldn't run. The (L####) store wouldn't take it back, and I had to find a Troy-Bilt service store to work on it. Turns out it had bad gas in it from the seller. Power at Hand flushed out the gas tank and carburetor and it starts quicker and runs better now than when I first took it out of the box. They are to be highly recommended for fixing a problem the big store refused to accept. Thank you Power At Hand! read more

I am so pleased to tell you that Power At Hand is a superbly old school source for lawn mower parts. I needed to replace a snapped throttle cable on my 5 YO lawn mower. So this is pretty funny as I just saw someone posted a bill for $129 for a "rebuilt carburetor" by these jokers. I bought a yard machine at Home Depot last summer and this summer it wouldn't start. I didn't have time to mess with as it's only for my dog run where I can't get my rider. Anyway I called them and told them it wouldn't start and asked if it was still under warranty. They guy said no because I left gas in it all winter and the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. So I hung up. I looked on YouTube found a video. Tore the carburetor apart and "rebuilt" it myself by cleaning out the main jet with a piece of wire and put it back together. This took 10 minutes and it started on the first pull. I called back after this and asked how much for a "rebuild". He told me $49.99 plus parts. I asked if they do any diagnostics first and he said of course. I said I do you clean the main jet and see if it starts? He said well the main jet is "all the way in the middle of the carburetor". I said well I pulled it apart, cleaned it with a wire and it started on the first pull, so thanks for letting me know I needed a rebuilt carburetor and hung up. If your lawn mower doesn't start and you have spark at your spark plug (again you can find a video how to do this) and you don't mind spilling a little gasoline to get the carburetor off and apart, you have some wrenches or sockets, don't waste "$49.99 plus parts" for parts that they won't replace and 10 minutes of your time. Hell even if you spend 30 minutes you fixed it yourself. read more
