Unfortunately I had a small hiccup with a purchase, but when I called the store manager, she rectified the situation immediately. I absolutely compliment her on correcting the issue without hesitation. The store itself is loaded to the brim with beautiful plants and every accessory you could need. I've never seen such a selection that fun pots in every color you can imagine, watering cans galore and cute garden accessories. Really they have everything you'd want in a garden center. There are new owners, since the original owner of Welby gardens that grew all the Hardy Boy plants retired and sold his production facility and this garden shop. The new owners are not the same, and noticed bugs, bugs and more bugs on almost every plant I picked up. I asked where they get their plants and they wouldn't answer me. I think they are buying poor quality plants and charging the Hardy Boy prices. Good luck with that! I spoke with the staff and they admitted that they are having a fungal nat problem. I couldn't find one plant that didn't have bugs when checking the stems. Lots of stressed out plants too. Will never come back. Sorry. Too bad since it's a cute store and even shopping at the old location. read more

I enjoy stopping by on occasion to peruse houseplants and plant/garden supplies. They're a bit more expensive than the big box stores but I like to support local and the employees are generally very friendly and helpful. The last time I purchased some plants, I took them home only to discover they all had mealy bugs, aphids, AND slugs. I took them back and was refunded, but they tried first to tell me it was simple to treat the pests. As someone with quite a few houseplants, it's just not worth it for me to have to treat pest-ridden plants before adding them to my collection. The following time I stopped by, I checked the same plant display and it seemed that the issue might have been resolved. So that's the only caveat... if purchasing here, make sure to thoroughly check for pests before bringing home. read more

It's very convenient being as close to home. Everyone is friendly and professional with a smallish selection. I do have an issue with my last visit which is why I haven't been back. The plants I purchased one was in good shape and handled being planted in my garden. The other one had slugs and didn't thrive very well and it finally died even with extra care and getting rid of the slugs. I will pay closer attention to buying plants by making sure there are no issues in the soil and around the plant and segregating them until they are found to be pest-free. Great plant/pot selection (for all parts of the year). They have a unique cactus collection which, I love (very fond of cacti). Prices are on the higher end but, worth it as they have lots to plants to choose from (indoor, cacti, hanging, fig trees, etc.). The staff is also super knowledgeable and have mentioned that if there is something particular that you are looking for, they will/can assist with finding/ordering what you want. Country Fair is my happy place. There's a reason it's a Denver institution. Actually, there are quite a few reasons! This place has a huge variety of plants and an outstanding selection of pots. I love strolling through the store and its sprawling greenhouses and grounds, discovering amazing things around each corner. Do you know how people who go to animal shelters all say the same thing? "I wish I could take them all home with me!" That's what it feels like to be a plant person and wander around Country Fair. The store has the most helpful, most knowledgeable, most accessible, and NICEST horticultural and botanical experts I've ever seen. In short, the people who work there are wonderful! Sold me four defective plants ( large dahlias). An employee actually picked them out for me. The cost with tax was over $320. Within a few days, none of them were blooming or looked healthy. I took back the worst one, and was told that it had spider mites. They reimbursed me for that plant. Despite careful watering ( deep watering as needed, about every other day, depending on the intensity of the sun, avoiding the leaves) within a week all of the three other plants all looked like the plant I had returned. I called the store several times before they returned my call. They refused to do anything about the three plants ( reimbursement or an exchange). They attempted to blame me for the damaged plants, saying this time it was aphids. None of my other potted plants ( about 10) or the plants in my flower beds have aphids. In sum, the store sold me expensive, damaged plants that never looked nice within a few days of getting out of the store and would not take them back or exchange them for healthy plants. I will never go back there. read more

I've been coming here for years. I have bought indoor plants, pots, outdoor plants, etc. although I do know that I could likely find allot of the inventory at maybe a HomeDepot for cheaper I come here to support a small/local business. The staff has never been anything but helpful and full of information, unless of course it's very busy, in which case they are just busy. I went to this spot to check out plants for my new office, and left with everything I needed! The store was large and spacious, with its own greenhouse attached. The plants were all well cared for and stunning. I appreciated the variety of plants available, as well as the massive selection of pots. Every experience I have had at County Fair Garden center has not been great. First of all the plants that they sell are extremely expensive for how basic their selection is. You could find the same plants at Home Depot for 70 percent cheaper. Another issue is I feel the staff has no clue what they are talking about. I asked about orchid bark and the employee had no clue what that was. Training the employees know late on plant care would improve the experience. read more

I usually come here once a month and pick up a new succulent or cactus for my collection. I make the long drive because the quality of these succulents is so worth it. I love the large selection of pots too. I only wish they would carry more rare rosette type echeveria. read more

Lisa was incredibly helpful today while my sister and I were looking for trees. After looking at at least 4 other garden centers, we found two gems that would work perfectly for my landscape and they were reasonably priced. I went here a week ago looking for some houseplants - being a botanical noob I wasn't entirely sure what I was looking for or what would do well in the space I had in mind. So, I go up to an employee (older guy with short white hair and wearing a blue shirt) and ask him about some irregular spots on the leaf of a plant (the spots were only present on the one leaf); in particular, if the spots are regular or if it's something I should be concerned about. The guy tells me it's nothing to worry about, but then proceeds to openly mock me to the other employees, pointing at different plants and asking "What's this spot? What's that spot?" in a condescending tone. In addition, I think this place might have shoplifting issues or something, because you will be followed around and absolutely hounded by employees constantly asking you if you need assistance - even when the same employee has asked you 2 minutes earlier. Granted, I came in looking for advice should I need it, but if I need to know something I'll ask (see above)...I don't need to be shadowed while I'm browsing. You would think in this age of the internet and big box stores edging out the mom and pop shops they would want to bring in and hold onto whatever customers they can, but I guess this place is doing well enough to the point where they can afford to lose business, because being ridiculed by an employee was enough to convince me they don't need mine. read more

I've shopped at Country Fair a handful times over the last few years, most recently this past Saturday. If you want to save time, just come here first and you will most likely find everything you need. If you want to save money, go to the big box stores first then drop by for the things you couldn't find elsewhere. The place has changed hands since my last visit and the new management has made some improvements. The inside area is now much better arranged. It's easier to browse for garden seeds, pest control products, cute ceramic pots, welcome mats, gardening tools, and indoor plants - even live ladybugs. The cash registers are also better situated. My favorite change, though, is the punch card. You get 1 punch for every $10 you spend. I can't imagine getting out of there for less than $10! All of the employees I encountered were very friendly and helpful. Even though the prices are kinda high, I like coming here for the great selection and service. read more

On the up-side, the staff in the nursery itself were friendly and helpful. I was approached by two different people who offered brief explanations and help regarding the kind of plant I was looking for. On the down-side, there there is very little information on the plants themselves. If you're not well versed in the language of horticulture, you will probably need to track down an employee to help you out. Also, the prices aren't clearly - or at all - marked on some items. I got my arrangement up to the counter, and it cost quite a bit more than I expected (since there were no visible prices, I was expecting it to be along the lines with the other flowers around it). The employees up front were not friendly, either - they were actually kind of rude, which is what I've encountered here in the past (and why I only go as a last resort). Oh well. Hopefully I'll be able to bump this review up after another visit - if I make it back. read more

This is 1 of their 2 locations in Colorado. I came here before Easter to get some garden plants as a gift. I found cute egg-shaped plant pots and some pretty flowers. There is plenty of parking here. The selection here is larger than at Walmart or Loews. They have both an indoor and outdoor section. I came here after first going to Bonnie Braes and not finding what I was looking for. Seniors (65+) get 15% off every Wednesday. They host classes sometimes. They have garden decor like stone fairies, wind-spinning wheel-things on sticks, and stone mushrooms (man that is generic garden stuff). read more

The vibe in this place is great, very relaxing and no pressure. I just bought some Easter lilies as a gift (50% off, can't beat the prices), and the staff was very helpful in sprucing up the plant with some colored wrapping & giving me care tips. I recently moved close the the Garden Center and strolled in looking for some new plants for my apartment. I loved their selection and have been extremely happy with the health of all the plants I purchased. I have gone back every couple weeks for new plants, pots, or other gardening trinkets and have always found exactly what I needed, and left fun impulse purchases that I didn't know I needed. We didn't have luck last year with the shrubs we purchased from Home Depot. We didn't want to go back. We wanted to talk to someone that actually knew about gardening in CO. We had browsed around this place before, and knew we could find the help we needed here. And just as we thought, the staff was great. They guided us on what to buy to plant in this crazy climate in Denver. I am still not used to having to actually water plants, and tend to them. Where I'm from, you just plant stuff in the ground and it grows, no work needed. But not here. So we wound up getting some ornamental grasses and Russian Sage. We are following the advice of the staff, and everything is taking off well. There is a large variety of plants and flowers, and all sorts of stuff here. They also have a fun section of garden accessories, like gnomes, and butterflies, and faeries. I have to watch myself here, because I could get carried away and spend a lot of money. And just a heads up, things are a bit pricey here. read more
