Datura is absolutely one of the best shops in town. I'm so grateful for the new location at 9th and Colorado as well. Every time I enter both shops, I walk into an oasis of beautiful plants and more. Unique, special gifts that I rarely can find anywhere else. The staff is helpful by checking in and also offering suggestions to create gift ideas, and pairing pots with the plants so they grow properly. The finishing touch is their gift wrap where they also remove the $ labels. I want to thank Datura and its staff for great customer services. I went in to the store this past Sunday with my daughter looking for a gift. Owner was super rude. Almost upset we asked a question. The older woman that was in helping him kept saying nice things to make up for his behavior. It's like he doesn't want people in his store. At one point my daughter(who's 17, not 3) asked politely if she could pet the dog. He so harshly said no that the older woman again swooped in to say, "it's so kind of you to ask first." The whole visit was awkward and miserable. Too many other great options in Denver so no need to patronize this store. read more

I have been going to the Eastbridge Datura location for years for their unique gifts & plants. I recently visited this new location and was impressed with their continual uniqueness. Just after this gift store opened, I was able to visit and take in the whole experience. Parking is ample, there are many other attractions in this neighborhood, (think: huge variety of restaurants, Trader Joe's, even a cinema, all within easy walking distance), and it feels a lot like shopping in downtown Denver in the sixties, only with shorter buildings. The shop itself *sparkles* and has a lot of fun packed into a right-sized space. Also, for those of us who are sensitive to lighting levels and other elements of ambience, imo they've nailed that too. There is such a variety of goods that it would take paragraphs to describe it all-- but what I will say is that there's no one I know, who I wouldn't be able to find a very thoughtful gift for, in this shop. A signature of the store and its sister store, are amazing service, including lovely gift wrapping and, of course, knowledgeable information about the products. I expect to return again and again to this beautiful, welcoming shop. read more

I've been going to Datura since they opened their 9+CO location, but the vibe has never felt right. The owner/operator (?) the older red-haired worker with a goatee and the beautiful dog always has a sour attitude while visiting their store. Last night was unfortunately the experience, but I continued coming to the store because they have a great, small selection or plants. Yesterday, my husband and I popped in to grab a few things, as I was looking at some items, the red-haired individual passed me while walking their dog out and said in a very harsh tone "You know that's a orchid pot??" I had the pot in my hand and another plant sitting inside of it,  which really seemed to upset this person.  We continued our shopping, checked out, and the reminder of the interaction was so cold and impersonal.  The worker continued making judgemental looks at me while I was running my credit card, making me feel very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, we will no longer be supporting this business, there are other shops nearby that sell the same items but are much friendlier and welcoming. I'd suggest Wild Flowers on 12th and Madison. Save yourself the time and judgment. read more
