The program he used gave his estimate a 'pretty face' but the numbers and measurements were all wrong. After pointing this out, he revised it, and again, it was wrong. My 'better-half' is a project manager, so he knows what a proposal should look like, [scope of work, etc] which was absent completely. He tried to explain this to the estimator, but it didn't change anything. The numbers were all wrong, still. The proposal might look good to those of us that don't know the ins and outs of contracts, estimates, scope of work, etc, which would be someone like me, but it was not right. While I believe this company probably could have done the work, probably good work, too, it was the lack of a proper and correct proposal that made us go with another contractor. So, this review is NOT about the quality of the work; that I can't judge. It is solely based on the lack of a professional estimate. Please give them a try by getting an estimate and decide for yourself. Go through it thoroughly and double check the numbers, licenses, insurance and so forth. Take your time and make sure what you get in writing is what you are asking to have done.
