After setting up my initial free class with Haley the three of us managed to finally take one of these virtual sauna classes together. It was super fun and I was absolutely down to supplement my powerlifting workouts with these quick and intense workouts in the saunas. It's been a little over a month since I joined and I have loved being able to sign up for classes at any time of the day in a 24 hour period, being in the sauna by myself or the max of 3 people. It has been the perfect self care regimen I've needed since the weirdness of the pandemic and the world getting to a new norm. I know I'll keep coming back to this location to workout with my sister and Krystle as well as one that's opening up near where I live. The HotWorx gyms are open 24 hours which means if you can't sleep in the middle of the night, you just type in your passcode and can sweat it out for that good good sleep. There are 9 saunas at this location, fewer at some others. 4 of them are for Hiit classes (rowing, cycle, and a bike called blast) that run every 15 minutes. The ISO workouts are 35-45 minutes long and are usually every 45 minutes so those are harder to find time to fit in your schedule if you find yourself swamped. Being that you can show up whenever you need makes it easy to not have an excuse to exercise...it's good for your mental health (and physical health of course). There are only 3 spots in each sauna so it's super important to sign up on the app. Saunas heat to 130 degrees max and you can lower it if you want. Every few months they change the videos to keep you from getting bored. There's an FX zone if you want weightlifting. You can rent a mat and towel for a few dollars if you don't have your own for the ISO workouts. They are staffed during the day about 11-8 so if you have any questions there's someone there to assist. Bonus; they have the cutest retail!! Definitely worth that free trial if nothing else!

The farm where the goats live and the yoga is done is super cute, with a little barn where you check in and will have mimosas and bagels after your yoga/goat session. (Where are those bagels from? They were SO GOOD!) So if you couldn't tell, you do NOT have to be a yoga expert or even have ever done yoga to participate in this activity. It is very goat heavy and light on the yoga. More just stretches and a few simple poses (but I have no balance, so did almost tip over a few times LOL!) Wear something you are ok with getting a bit dirty because the goats will walk on your back and come up to you, and in some cases even have a little bit of poo pebbles come out (but the staff is great about wiping those away really quick off your mat). These are barn animals, not pets, so you do have to realize that - and once you are cool with that, you will be fine. And if you're totally not cool with interacting with the goats too much, you can let the staff know that you don't want them to guide the little cuties over to you/have them get on your back. Well, I was admittedly there for the goats more than the yoga, so I absolutely said I DID want them to jump on me (so adorable), and the staff is wonderful about leading them around to each group so everyone gets some time with them and then also will give them treats to coax them to interact with you. The handlers also give you some food to feed the goats yourself, and they will eat it right out of your hand. Love it! The goat that came up to me ate the entire pile of food in my hand in one slobbery bite. A goat after my own heart. This is a super fun activity, and best of all, it's not too expensive. About $20 a person, and I would have paid way more than that! I recommend this to people of any age or level of fitness. You can do the yoga as much or as little as you want, too and just watch and play with the goats. It makes a very nice morning with a little relaxing, and a lot of cute goats!

The gym owner/main trainer was out of town on vacation, but took the time to email me back quickly and gave me a very generous weekly rate. I came early on my first day and met two guys in the gym. Both were welcoming and gave me a tour, even though neither were coaches. When I came back the next day, they even remembered my name! The gym equipment is up to date and in very good condition. The building is quite large, with fans and rolling doors to help with air flow. Each person has a section that is taped off to help with social distancing. It was nice not having to walk around to gather equipment! I had my own personal rower and weights within my taped off area. Coach Ryan was very welcoming and treated me like I had been going to the gym for years. I never felt like an outsider at this new gym. When I did get to meet Jon (owner), he gave me some tips on my squat that really helped my form. I was never singled out for doing modifications that fit my ability. I hope to make this my home gym if I ever move back to Omaha.

The BJJ HIIT trainings at lunch and evenings are awesome workouts, they put you in scenarios (for example 50 seconds left, start in half guard, top guy is down on points and needs to pass or sub to win) and run through that for several rounds with different partners, 10 second breaks. I typically burn 500-600 calories in the 50 minute class.
