The music is usually an upbeat remix of pop hits, the shades are drawn, and the lights are glowing. It's an immaculate studio that has motivational phrases and a class milestone board for those who take 100+ classes to sign. The instructors push you and model the exercises. Whether you're beginner or advanced, the workout will challenge you. I don't like a lot of hullabaloo and chaos at the gym, and Barre Code is super efficient. Check in, store personal items in a locker, grab your weights and bands, and find a spot. You're in an out of the studio in under one hour! Plus, there is free parking in the adjacent outdoor lot. BARRE WORKOUTS IN GENERAL I freakin' love barre for so many reasons. Because all the positions take so much concentration, it's a really great break from the day. They're super effective in just 50 minutes in making you leaner and more flexible. I also appreciate the focus on the inner, lower core as that is such a key to helping with low back pain but most places just have you doing crunches for days which (in normal position) just work the top. Of all the reasons, the reason I keep going back to barre is my butt. Yes, my butt. It looks fantastic. If I stop doing barre for a while and then go back, it only takes 3-4 workouts to start seeing beautiful shape again. THE BARRE CODE VS. PURE BARRE I've been to a few barre places but The Barre Code and Pure Barre are the ones that I have been to consistently so I thought a comparison would be useful. If I only had one of them around me, I wouldn't be sad because both are great for the aforementioned reasons. Some Pros for The Barre Code: - They have more equipment so there is more variety in the exercises - While Pure Barre has some weird carpeting, The Barre Code floors are covered with that sort of spongy black mat materials. This is huge! My knees are far happier. This alone could be reason enough for someone to go to The Barre Code. - Their branding is more colorful, which I find fun. - In addition to the standard barre classes, they do some other classes like "Brawl" and "Restore." I haven't been to any of those classes, though so I can't speak to them. Some Pros for Pure Barre: - They correct you on your form, which really matters in maximizing the exercise. If I hadn't gone to Pure Barre before The Barre Code, I probably would have been doing the exercises all wrong if I hadn't been to Pure Barre first. - Because of the aforementioned corrections, I found the workout at Pure Barre more challenging. - I prefer Pure Barre's method of doing mostly barre things. I'd say Pure Barre uses the barre for about 75% of the workout whereas The Barre Code is closer to 35%. I really love the stuff at the barre so I missed it when I was The Barre Code. THIS STUDIO I really enjoyed this studio. It had great facilities like lockers and spacious changing rooms that I hadn't seen in any other barre studios. The staff at the desk was always friendly and the teachers were energetic. If I could change something about the facilities, it would be to get a clearer mic. The mic/speakers are a bit fuzzy so I often found myself confused about what the teacher was saying. As for the classes, I found myself wanting a bit more. I went four times in one week and did the exact same workout three times. It wouldn't have been all that bad but I didn't love that particular workout because it wasn't very barre-y. Lots of the movements I could have found in regular trim with a title like "Trim & Tone" or something. Barre is really about small, controlled movements and it just wasn't hitting that. read more

Whenever I am out of town I try out different barre studios since I don't live in a city with one right now. I had driven by The Barre Code and bookmarked it, but never had a chance to go until this weekend when I planned to visit family. I booked online in advance and was very pleased with the $8 first time class price. Saturday morning was absolutely beautiful compared the freak storm the day before, and I walked 15 minutes from my grandparents' house to the studio and arrived 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork and get a studio tour. The staff (both the woman behind the counter and the instructor) were very friendly and chatted with me while I filled out the form. I have never seen a studio quite like this. Given the space, I felt like it was well-designed, with many changing rooms and a vanity area. Between the counter/retail clothing and the studio was an area with lockers with keys (free use) and all of the props for classes. On a board next to the props, the instructor writes which props to take into the studio which saves time asking. The studio is covered with bright pink and black motivational quotes on the walls, which was unique. The floor was more like gym mats (puzzled together if that makes sense) which was unexpected - I am used to the wood/bamboo ballet-like floors so this definitely was a change. Sticky socks are required. The class is only 50 minutes long, but I promise I got a heck of a workout even though it was shorter than other barre studios (I am used to a full 60 minutes). The instructor, Lindsay, was great. She played fast, dance-y music and was very enthusiastic. The workout flowed well and we always had countdowns and knew what was next. The glute section was really challenging! She asked me about my first experience when class was over. After I put up my weights, I went to use my yelp check-in offer, 20% off my first retail purchase. I had eyed a really cute top that read "Shaking in my sticky socks" so I tried it on in the changing room and bought it. I was given my purchase in a Canvas bag with The Barre Code logo on it, which made carrying all of my stuff back easier than in the plastic bag I brought. Great spot! I'm a big fan of the Brawl classes in particular, which are basically cardio kickboxing classes set to uptempo music. I just took a Brawl class last week that was outside for COVID safety. The classic barre classes are good too - they tone even the really obscure muscles until you're ready to shake. This studio is awesome! The instructors are so sweet and knowledgable! During my first time, they made sure to introduce me to everything and gave me a brief run down of their classes, equipment, and facility. I felt very comfortable throughout the class, and never felt intimidated. I've been so impressed, I signed up for their membership after my first time. The workouts are amazing, they really challenge you no matter what your fitness level is. The studio is clean and modern, with fitting rooms to change after work, secure lockers, and plenty of room in the studio itself. Entering the studio is a little tricky. The entrance is in the back, and you have to go through the Kohl's drugstore door to gain entrance to the stairwell to get up to the studio on the third floor. Parking can also be a little tricky if you arrive too late, since the studio shares parking with the drug store, coffee shop, and all the business offices around there. I really like everything about the studio. It's so cute and the instructors are really nice! I haven't had a bad workout there. The studio has thought everything through. They have hair ties, bobby pins, spray deodorant, and convenient changing rooms. It makes it really nice for workout sessions after work. They also have tons of lockers so you can lock your stuff up while you are in class. The classes are challenging but you can push though it. The instructors change it up so its not like you are doing the same thing every class. There is a good variety of classes so you don't have to keep going to just a barre class, you can go to yoga or do a more high intensity class. This is a great studio for both beginners and those who are more advanced! The studio itself is very bright and cheerful. I really appreciate the changing rooms and vanity area. It makes coming straight from/going straight to work that much easier. I also love the free lockers. Other studios I've been to charge you for using a locker or make you bring your own lock. The lockers here are super convenient so you never have to worry about your stuff during class. My favorite thing is the variety of classes offered. I started out almost exclusively taking Barre Code, but it's been fun to branch out with other classes like TBC and Barre-dio. The routines change pretty frequently, and from instructor to instructor, so you're not doing the same thing everyday. All the instructors are great - they're very upbeat and push you to do your best. They also demonstrate modifications in each class so you can make it as challenging as you're comfortable with. I recommend following them on social media to find out when they have special classes (like Bring A Friend Friday) or challenges, which last several weeks and usually have special deals for new students and prizes for participating. But if yore in the Omaha area and looking for a great workout, definitely give The Barre Code a try! read more

I had been eagerly anticipating The Barre Code's opening since seeing their sign and starting to follow them on Facebook last fall. Now that they've been open for about a month and I've gone to several class, I'm happy to report that it definitely does not disappoint. I was a little nervous to attend my first class, worried that all the women would be teeny tiny ballerinas and head to toe in the latest Lululemon gear. I've been pleasantly surprised to see women of all ages, shapes and size, and in all kinds of workout gear, at TBC. I normally prefer to work out solo, but The Barre Code instructors make their classes SO MUCH FUN that you (almost) forget you're working out. They have great energy and are awesome at both pushing you to go harder but also making you feel comfortable with where you're at fitness-wise. The studio itself is adorable, with fancy changing rooms, mints and hair ties at the front desk, tons of awesome props (which they are constantly switching up, keeps things exciting!). There's always a friendly face (usually the owner, Sarah) at the front desk to greet you, get you signed in if you haven't already done so through their online system, and help you get the props you'll need for that days class. The one downside: it's pricey, $20/class for drop-in. If you're planning to go a lot, and have $150/month to spend, there is an unlimited monthly membership that would be a great deal. So far, I've just watched for and purchased their grand opening and Groupon specials, which have been great. If you're looking for a friendly, welcoming group fitness option, definitely give The Barre Code a shot! read more
