Paid extra to have my 25 year old ash trees taken care of by an arborist just to have him way over prune and kill my trees. Then give me 5 different BS excuses as to why. I would NEVER recommend these guys. I now get to pay to remove these trees and pay to buy new ones and wait another 2 decades to see shade. Makes me sick. The equally mature trees in back done by your basic landscaper all look fantastic and they were cheaper. read more

What a waste of my time. Our first appointment to determine what work was to be done and the agreed to cost was fine. The arborist also confirmed the exact arrival time a few days before the project. On the day of the project the arborist shows up with his crew, 1 hour before the appointment time, to tell me he personally won't be here to start the job and his crew will do the work but he will check in later. He also stated the job would start an hour later than scheduled due to a "tree emergency". I told him I was disappointed because I was paying double to an arborist than I would pay for a landscaper to cut the trees. I thought the arborist should be at the project to supervise. He said he needed to meet with other potential customers. He also said he would be back during the day to check on the project. Two hours later they still didn't show up but I did get a call from the arborist stating the "tree emergency" was taking longer than expected, it would be another hour and a half until his crew could start my project. I told him I was disappointed in the way the project was going. He told me "perhaps we should cancel the job". I agreed. We did. How arrogant can a business owner be when they don't meet minimum expectations of where they are suppose to be when they committed to be there and they blame their customer? read more

I must say we are stoked with the work that was preformed. 18 trees trimmed, removal of one large tree with the stump. Irrigation fixed and dialed in. Stopped some kind of insects munching on a rare tree. Cleaned w/o headaches or drama. They just got down with business and David followed through. I highly recommend Power Ranch Arborist. We understand David doesn't need to be onsite baby sitting his crews, if he needed to be we would not want them touching our trees. read more

I was really pleased with the work I had done. David knows "his stuff" and I was real impressed with his presentation and what he offered. I had 2 orange trees and 1 Chinese Elm trimmed back. We are extremely disappointed with the work that Power Ranch did on our mature citrus trees. That is actually an understatement; I cried when I saw the work after the first day and still am distraught every time I see the state of the trees when I return home from work. We met with the owner/arborist prior to the service to discuss plans to trim our citrus trees. We wanted to take care of them as they had not been done in several years and were slightly overgrown, so we chose to hire an arborist to make sure the trees were trimmed properly. We expressed our preference that the trees not be trimmed higher up the trunk, as we don't need to walk under them and prefer the privacy they offer. We also expressed concern that the trees not be trimmed drastically at this time, as we are moving into the summer heat and did not want to stress the trees. The owner assured us that they do not remove more than 30% of a tree when pruning, they did not need to raise the trim line, and that the trees would still look full and lush, just more shaped and lighter inside, when they were done. He said he works on site with his crew. The first day of work, when the owner/arborist was not on site, the crew raised the sight line of the trees, trimmed at least 50% of the trees away, and did not shape the trees in an aesthetically pleasing way. Neighbors and friends have asked what was wrong with the trees that they had to be shorn so drastically and shaped so poorly. Limbs were cut so that gaping holes are obvious, and the trees have odd, random branches sticking out. We managed to stop the work after the first day so that only half the trees were mangled. The remainder of the trees that they did on the second day look better but still have not been shaped or trimmed in a pleasing way. To make matters worse, the arborist was not on site as promised for the first day, so we were not able to communicate our concerns in a timely manner. We must note that the crew was professional and cordial and the cleanup was spotless at the end of each work day. They arrived on time each day and made sure to say hello and let us know they were there before they started work. We have no complaints about the professionalism of the crew, only about the results of the work. We regret our decision to hire Power Ranch Arborists. We hope that our trees are not permanently damaged from their work. We would never hire them again and would not recommend their work to anyone else. read more

We made an appointment on Monday after a huge storm when the large tree in front of our house started to tip over. Toward the house. We were so glad we found someone who could get to us in the same week, everyone is busy with storm-damaged trees. The appointment was for Friday. It is now Thursday, the day before the appt, and the receptionist JUST called to tell us that David, the owner, refuses to come out to our house because we're "outside his service area". What?? PR Arborists doesn't want to do business. I called them Thursday afternoon, no call back until Friday. When I finally spoke to the woman, I told her that I was returning home to Arkansas but I'd like to have the arborist meet with my mother the next week to discuss some concerns we have with our trees. The lady on the phone explained their policy is that they will only deal with the homeowner. The reason is that they've had problems when the homeowner receives the estimate of work and has sticker shock after not having heard their treatment plan first-hand. I said that's fine, I would call someone else. She then recanted and said she'd meet with my mother and asked to have my mom call back to schedule a time. When my mom finally called back, they would only schedule within very narrow 30-minute windows on only certain days. This company clearly has so much business that they can turn customers away. In my case, I believe this was foreshadowing and I'm better off going with another arborist. Very unprofessional, discourteous, and unaccommodating.. read more

We called Power Ranch Arborists to have 4 trees properly trimmed. When David came to give us an estimate, he said the citrus trees needed to be treated for thrip and all the plantings needed fertilizer. All of that was for $450. He also said we needed more irrigation emitters placed around 3 trees. We had questions about the irrigation system--scheduling/timing/making sure it was all working. Somehow that turned in to new valves for $300 and $90 to run-test an audit for the system and to set up a schedule. The run-test didn't go well and he was unable to figure out why some plants were not getting water. (Note: They had been getting water before the new valves.) He gave us another estimate to excavate, locate pipes, new valve wiring, and possibly a new controller. We decided to get another opinion. That person discovered that 2 of the 3 electric lines from the controller box were severed (looked like by a shovel) and that explained the one zone not getting water. For another $520 he installed a new controller, rewired it, and got everything back to normal. So...Power Ranch Arborists are great with tree trimming. We had a bad experience with sprinkler repair. read more

I asked for them to come and give me an estimate regarding wind damage to a tree. While asking for my information they asked for my email address and refused to accept it. They therefore wanted to send an estimate via snail mail because my email address made them uncomfortable. Background: I own an entire domain and I give out different email addresses to different businesses that I deal with based on their own domain. If the business is widgets.com, I give them widgets.com@my-domain.com as the email address for them to use. If I start getting spam on that address, I know who is responsible for it. I understand that this seems odd to many businesses and I often have to explain it. This is the first one that refused to use it. I understand that they are cautious about misbehavior on the Internet, but this is not something that could be used against them. It is only a means for me to protect myself against misbehavior on their part. It is just ignorance and lack of sophistication and made them uncompetitive for me. I had another vendor already scheduled for an estimate and I didn't want to have to wait for this estimate to be snail mailed for comparison. I have no feedback regarding the quality of work they do (hence limiting this to a 2 regarding their professionalism). They were just too technically unsophisticated for me to do business with them. read more
