Walked to my car with me, checked it out, grabbed a pump and some gas cans and drained diesel out. Problem solved. Cap it all off, they wouldn't let me pay a thing. Not even a tip. Though it was a shortened holiday work week, they were able to squeeze me in at 4 pm Friday. I called during my drive up to let them know I would be late due to crash and construction delays. They close at 5 but said they'd do their best. When I arrived at 5:15, my service technician, service manager, his son, and the owner were there to greet me. They assured me it was fine and my car was whisked away for its inspection. I got a chance to speak with the owner who told me VanDervort has been around for over 100 years at the same location. We had a heartfelt conversation about my medical journey, medical miracles like hip replacements, cars, and more. Soon, my car had passed inspection and I was free after many months in which I was not able to drive, to go. At the end, there was a sweet surprise that, when I told my cousin about it during my trip back, she said, "I'm crying" (tears of joy). If you are anywhere in the area and need car care and repair, It would be hard to find a more professional, kinder group to work with. I can almost guarantee you will be very pleased!

Access Unlimited - "Hoyer" type lift

We are writing to ecstatically recommend and review the Multi-Lift and Speedy Bar. Changed our…read moreworld and put us back on the road! Prior to finding Access, we were segregated to travelling with Dori and her wheelchair in our conversion van OR leaving Dori behind if we needed to transport livestock in the truck and trailer. Speedy Bar changed all that and allowed us to travel the country for alpaca shows! Speedy-Bar worked perfectly for our Ford F250 4WD and fits perfectly on the passenger door hinge. The Multi-Lift arrived engineered and configured precisely to fit the angles needed to lift Dori safety from chair to truck seat. I was concerned for Dori's safety lifting to the height of the 4WD vehicle and intimidated by the sling straps, but the team provided excellent training on sling/lift configuration. She was secure from the start, and the sling is well designed to wrap around her trunk and under her legs. The general purpose sling is padded well enough to be comfortable for her to sit in for all-day cross-country travel. Having just returned from a two-week, cross-country road trip (~5000 miles), we extensively used the Multi-Lift all day, every day across a range of temperatures and conditions (17F to 97F, snow, rain, etc) with no change in performance of the lift and battery. Tech support has also been amazing, with Tom's team being accessible for any questions or support via email, phone, or text. They kept us updated weekly as to estimated manufacturing and delivery timelines and consistently overachieved. Beyond the logistics, we end with the emotional benefit of this engineering marvel. Prior to finding Access, Dori was resigned to staying at home or close to home with only local 'needed' travel (i.e. doctor's appointments). Adding the truck as an option for her travel opened a world of new friends and new experiences traveling the country for alpaca shows that was not even an option to consider! Peace of mind. Safety. Amazing engineering. Ease of use. Tremendous customer support. Get one! It will open your world!

    Hypnosis For Healing

    Hypnosis For Healing

Hypnosis for Healing with Jim Lee…read more The actual hypnosis takes 20 minutes. The process explanation can be completed in 10 minutes, but instead is dragged out. It's the same information provided in the consultation. The remaining 1 to 1.5 hours ( he will tell you the session may take up to 2hrs) is nothing more than Mr. Lee trying to sell you two more sessions. He will tell you that he usually only has to see people for 3 visits in an attempt to convince you of his credibility and success. Maybe that's true. And while it's a good strategy, you shouldn't have to pay for his sales pitch at $85. per hour. I visited Mr. Lee to relieve chronic pain. He makes the claim that he has 100% success, however, there is zero evidence of that claim. Nor did I buy into it. But I'm open to trying things, so, I gave it shot. Takeaways: The hypnosis is supposed to "anchor" you to do a relaxation exercise. Truth is, the exercise given can be effective without hypnosis. It's basically meditation. It's taking a few moments out of your day to stop, focus and be in the moment, relaxing your mind and body. A handout for tapping (EFT) is provided in the session. It's a very simple technique. You can find the same thing online. His hand out, I discovered, actually misses one step. Both meditation and EFT can be practiced and yield results without hypnosis. And both are free. :) Do I believe I was hypnotized. No. A big believer in alternative treatments and medicine, I was open and receptive to the process, but I was not hypnotized. Would I recommend Mr. Lee? No. What works for some does not work for others, but I would not recommend him. What I would recommend is meditation. It can be as short or as long as you need or can do. There's a plethora of information available online, as well as free guided meditations. Look for meetup groups if you want to connect with people or a community who may have more experience that can help you. I'm still not sure about the effectiveness of tapping (EFT), but if you're interested, give it a go. Again, there is plenty of information available online on how to do that. It's very simple to do. I hope this helps.

    Mavis Discount Tire

    Mavis Discount Tire

    (39 reviews)

Here's a clean, strong review version you can post:…read more Back at the beginning of February, we took my wife's SUV to Mavis Discount Tire in Vestal, NY for four new tires. They were the cheapest option we found at $850. While the vehicle was there, they told us a sway bar link was broken and charged an additional $250 to fix it. About a month later, the car started making a loud, obnoxious banging noise. It briefly went away, then came back again a couple of weeks later. We brought it back to Mavis because it seemed related to the repair they had done. They told us the part they installed had failed, but that it was covered under warranty. We picked the car up the following Friday, and the noise was still there. They then said their "mechanic" needed to look at it, but he wouldn't be in until Wednesday. After dropping it off again, they called and claimed the issue was a bad strut mount and quoted us another $1,250. Instead of moving forward with that, I took the vehicle to Weaver's in Owego for a second opinion. Within minutes, they found the real issue -- the sway bar was loose. The same part Mavis supposedly fixed. I brought the receipt from Weaver's back to Mavis and asked to be reimbursed for their improper repair. When I followed up days later, I was told they were "too busy" to look into it. After making it known in their waiting room what had happened, they suddenly refunded me $111 -- but then told me to "get the F out" and not come back. They failed to properly complete their own repair, misdiagnosed the issue, tried to upsell an unnecessary $1,250 fix, and handled the situation in an extremely unprofessional manner. I will never use Mavis again and strongly recommend others think twice before trusting them with their vehicle.

GO ANYPLACE ELSE!! I've gotten tires from them in the past…read morewithout issues. Then I bought all around suspension, alignment. I started hearing a knocking sound when going over bumps. Brought it back. and their mechani (I mean, he must have ben a mechanic; he had tattoos and smoked cigarettes!) said there was a heat shield on the exhaust that was rubbing so he bent it. The problem persisted, so I took it to the dealer, and was able to explain the issue directly to the mechanic. He called a short while and said it was fixed. I was sold a bad shock, so he replaced it. I asked him how he knew. He said "I took the shock out and drove around the parking lot an the problem was gone." A real mechanic... Anyway I needed a state safety inspection and figured they couldn't screw that up, so I made the appointment. They said it would take an 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. because they were short staffed. isn't that why you make an appointment? So I watched them pull my car in put it on the lift, take the tires off, and it sat un-touched for forty minutes. So they were right. An inspection that should take 30 to forty minutes, took an hour an a half. Plus, the "mechanic" had an attitude because he knew I was watching him through the "provided" window, so he purposely left the old adhesive, and mounted the new sticker on a VERY lop-sided angle so I have to look at it until next year when I can bring it to a reputable place.
