It was a cool, Sunday morning and finally decided to stop and try this little place out. Let me tell you that the parking lot was full as well as the waiting lobby. They told me it would be about a 10 minute wait and that was about what i waited before being seating. I knew by the way this place was packed and people willing to wait, that it must be worth it. I was not disappointed. As soon as i was seated i was greeted by my server and ordered a coffee and a Dr. Pepper. This gave me a couple of minutes to look over the menu. Before i knew it, in the blink of an eye and before i could scan over the forst page of the menu, the server was back woth my coffee and drink. While sipping on my coffee i browsed the menu and found what inwanted for breafast. Which by they way, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ordered the double (see pic of menu for desription) As i watched the room noticing that as soon as a party left the bus boys were on the table quickly to clean and turn it over and the hostess already had the next group ready to be seated. This explained while the wait wasnt as long as expected as they turn over tables quickly. The next thing is knew, my food was at the table, hot and fresh. The food didn't disappoint either as it was all cooked perfectly and had good flavor. My server checked on me as what I consider perfect timing and the right amount of times where you are not bothered but dont have to look around for a refill or assistance. All in all, this place was a quaint little country kitchen, with excellent service and food. They are well staffed to handle the crowds with ease and plenty of cooks to get your food out in a timely and fresh n hot manner. Awesome place. read more

The food was absolutely amazing. We only ordered from the small portion menu and there was so much food! The service - funny story the yelp review I read said Vicki was great! And we were seated with VICKI!!! She is awesome! This looks like a little restaurant with a big full parking lot, but we got right in! This will be our forever stop for trips on I35! My husband and I stopped in with some friends of ours after spending the weekend at the Cross Bar Off Road Park. The wait was reasonable (10-15 minutes). I ordered the Fiesta Pepper Omelette with the Red Quinoa Has Browns and it was absolutely delicious!! Ok so I'm going to note something that isn't normally featured in a Yelp review. I used the restroom and was happy to see a female staff member thoroughly washing her hands before heading back out. I truly appreciated that because you wouldn't believe the number of employees at various restaurants that I have seen merely run their hands under water and then grab a towel and walk out of the restroom. Sunday morning is always a gamble, at 10:00 am there was no wait for two. Got right in sever was Bree, sweet girl. Very attentive and had everything on the table ready for our meals arrival. Biscuits are so fluffy they are amazing with or without gravy, I ordered without and then got a side of gravy because I wanted to try them both ways. Good food and Service. The owners name is Phil Tabor. We know this because we stopped in around 8:40am on a Sunday. It was busy but we got sat as soon as we walked in. There were lots of waitresses in there with t-shirts on with Phil's face on them. I guess it was his birthday and they surprised him. It was good to see that they all love him. This is an old cafe. The seats aren't the most comfortable, but pretty expected since we were in a cafe. You could tell there were lots of locals in there. My mom got the blueberry short stack. She said they were great. Came out with three pancakes that had the blueberries cooked inside and on top. Pancakes were the size of a plate. They filled her up and she couldn't eat them all. My dad and husband got regular breakfast items. Toast, eggs, bacon, and hash browns. It all looked good and they ate all of it. I had the chicken fry with white gravy, 2 eggs, grits, and hash browns. All of my food was good. I was a bit disappointed in the gravy because it didn't seem homemade. Hash browns and eggs cooked perfectly. Grits were hot. No special flavors. This was good home cooking. I had the liver and onions. It was really good. The brown gravy was amazing. My wife had a chicken frued steak that she enjoyed very much. Looking at a 2K miles round trip, this was our first stop for breakfast and it was outstanding! Looks like lots of locals eat here based on the conversations around us. Place is very clean and the service was fantastic. We were starving and we ordered way more than we need for a road trip. Coffee was hot and fresh...wife went with the Corned Beef, Hash Browns and biscuits with gravy added....Mine was the Cattle Baron's Breakfast....with Three eggs, two strips of bacon, one sausage patty, ham, hash browns, and two pancakes...yes...I know...insane for a road trip. 4 meals- all bad. Chicken fried steak gritty, beans out of can, both dinners chicken tough and over cooked, hamburger not even close to tasty. I called the manager the next day. Explained everything and that we drive along distance to eat there. We usually love it. This time no one had a good experience. Annie had the pit ham and two eggs over medium with hashbrowns and pancakes, and I had the Chuckwagon with three eggs over medium with bacon, sausage, a smoked bone in pork chop and biscuits with gravy. I write few reviews and rarely, if ever give five star reviews but Prairie deserves it. For me delicious food is only 40% of my rating. Customer service is usually 40% with atmosphere being the 20%. Customer service here is amazing and takes 60% of my rating level! It compares to a casual, more personal version of Le Louis XV-Alain Ducasse à l'Hôtel de Paris. The owner of Prairie is ever present, chatting with guests at each table while the server's continually fill drinks, clean tables and serve food. People are chatting with each other like old friends while meeting new ones. The food is fresh, served hot and exactly what you need before you start your day. My favorite is getting a full pot of coffee for the table when anyone orders a coffee. It never stops flowing either. read more

For a home style breakfast this is the place to come. It was very busy, but we were quickly seated and asked for our drink orders. I ordered a classic breakfast that came with one egg, bacon, cinnamon apples, and biscuits with white gravy. All of the food was so delicious! I particularly enjoyed the biscuits and gravy and the cinnamon apples. Even though the restaurant was very busy, our food came out in less than 10 minutes after we ordered. We found this cafe on Yelp (of course) while on vacation and it lived up to everything we read. The food was scrumptious and I have been thinking about the biscuits and gravy ever since! What made the trip so so special was my two kiddos asking to meet the owner and he came right over. (Ex-NFL player). Talk about sprinkling some greatness on an already good thing - the flavor punch the quinoa added was surprising and has me never wanting to go back to a boring hash brown. My husband and I shared a side of their Blueberry Pancakes. I don't know if it was because I hadn't had pancakes in a minute or if there's something in their homemade recipe, but these pancakes made your mouth water for the next bite! My 13YO son ordered the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs. He'd never heard of corned beef before much less tried it so he didn't having a clue what he was ordering. He LOVED it and ate every bite. Before he polished his plate, he let me have a little bite and I was surprised at how good it was - I'd order it for lunch or dinner! This location has its own big, dedicated, parking lot. My husband and I went there for the first time recently. We both had a late breakfast and each ordered an omelette. I ordered a Santa Fe omelette or something like that which had black beans, roasted corn, red and green peppers , and cheese . I honestly did not like it very much, but would give it a three 3 . I'm not sure if I just don't like the combination or if I wasn't that crazy about the omelette. My husband ordered an omelette that had hash browns, sausage, and cheese in it, and he would give it a three 3. He said it was a decent size, but the flavor was average at its best. I did order some red quinoa hash browns, and I enjoyed those. They were crunchy, I'm sure from the seeds, plus the cooking time on them, but I did enjoy those. My husband really enjoyed their biscuits and gravy and would give those a five 5. Our waitress was wonderful! We actually complemented her on her service to the owner of the restaurant. I noticed this place while driving to my Hotel. Looks like a defunct Cotton Patch restaurant. Big place with lots of seating. The parking lot was almost full but I was seated immediately. Good medium-roast coffee in my own table decanter. Good touch. Big menu with lots of breakfast options. Very friendly servers and well-staffed to serve the crowd. That is rare during these days of never-ending Dem-Panic and irresponsible governance. I did a build-your-own omelet with cinnamon apples. It was huge, beautifully prepared and delicious. Loaded with ingredients and cheese and served really fast. I am impressed with the staff helping each other serve the patrons. This means a great management staff.
