The Dentist, Douglas, is thorough and did a great job on some work I needed. Christina, the last person you see, she's always been lovely and knows her job. To date I've had no negative issues with treatment, billing etc. so I was surprised to see any negative reviews, but insurance is not the same etc. etc. I can't say anything about the other staff because I've really had no contact other than letting them know, "I am here." I have recommended and will continue to recommend this place as long as I am happy coming here and it takes me 35-45 minutes to get there.

They seated me pretty quickly in the chair, then sat in that chair for 40 minutes waiting for the dentist. He finally arrives, asks when my last cleaning was, told him it was a year ago, then he says let's see how bad your gums are. I know they aren't bad since I brush and floss twice a day. The dentist was very rough, more than my regular dentist. He tells me I have two cavities and he can take care of them today. I'm waiting for the receptionist to come to the room to give me pricing and before she does, the dentist comes back into the room, asking if I want my cavities filled today. I told him I haven't gotten pricing yet then he just leaves. The receptionist comes in with pricing. I said ok I don't wanna do this today. I want to schedule it for a later date. She says ok just sign here on the paper. I told her I'm not signing anything and she said she just needs its signed to enter into their system. Dr. Bennett is an extremely talented professional. When I think of someone who practices any sort of medicine, it is with the hope that they are doing so with a deep passion for helping people. He does this and more. He is incredibly personable and I feel very comfortable discussing any issues I have with him. Any time I have a question, he makes himself available to answer it. He is attentive, caring, and goes out of his way to ensure that I get the answer I NEED and not the answer I want. There have been multiple instances where I have had a dental question, and he has taken his time (uncompensated) to give me his professional opinion and recommendation so that I can decide how to move forward with my own treatment. If I was ever given the option, I would use this office- hands down. Anyone that receives care from him is incredibly lucky because he will ensure you are taken care of in the manner that is most appropriate for your condition. Thanks for all that you do!

He tries to come across as direct and humorous, but I found the approach unprofessional and uncomfortable. He also seemed more interested in making conversation about my workplace and stocks rather than focusing on the appointment. My main concern, however, was his treatment plan. He recommended a crown for one of my front teeth--an issue another dentist later resolved by simply shaving the tooth slightly, which took only a few minutes and required zero crowns. Dr. Xu also recommended a total of six crowns, which immediately felt like a red flag, especially when he described front-tooth crowns as "jarring" and asked that I pay the full cost of all six upfront in case insurance didn't cover it. My new dentist emphasized preserving natural tooth structure, and that approach fully resolved my problem. Based on my experience, Dr. Xu's recommendations did not align with that philosophy. While I can't speak for the entire office, this encounter left me with concerns about overtreatment. Experiences like this contribute to distrust in dental care--especially in communities already hesitant to seek treatment.

However, after the specialist told me the tooth needed to be extracted, I returned to Catonfield Dental in pain, still with fever and on antibiotics. What truly upset me was the receptionist's attitude -- she showed zero empathy, was rude, and scheduled my appointment four days later, even though I explained I was in urgent condition. I'm not upset with the dental staff or the referral to the specialist -- but the lack of care and compassion from the front desk was extremely disappointing. When you're in pain and need help, you expect understanding -- not indifference. PS: The lady at the front desk gave me the appointment four days later, on July 25, 2025.
