My favorite kind of produce market because it is locally owned by a long time farming family, is very clean, and is organized. Their apples were extra crispy and delicious, and a cut above what you get at a chain grocery store. They have well stocked fresh fruit and vegetable choices and a full selection of nuts, other unique snacks and juices as well as cold canned sodas. Although more expensive, you get what you pay for. Even better, their Underwood Ranch sriracha, and garlic chili hot sauce are locally produced and the tastiest brand out there. Both women behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. This was my first visit to the Somis Underwood Farm stand. I came looking for Underwood Farm Sriracha, my favorite. I left with their Siracha and a lot more! They offer a wide selection of locally produced nuts, jams, etc., and veggies fresh from the fields. The staff were friendly and helpful. The stand had ample parking in front, and was clean and well organised. It's always a nice little pit stop at underwood. If you don't know, they're known for their amazing pumpkin patch during autumn which beings people from all over. Besides that, it's a cute produce stand along the highway with fresh produce, fruits, flowers and baked good. The selections are always amazing which is a plus, normally straight from the farms. They also have an array selections of pickled items which I always love. Pasta sauce and all sorts. Also, depending on season, pick your own fruits on the property. Not only that, there's a little zoo outside that you could purchase food and feed the animal. It's a nice little stop just to stretch your legs, do a little shopping and have a wander along the farm. read more

I always love stopping at this farm stand on my way home from Ventura! It's so cute. Everyone is always so nice. They have the fruits and vegetables displayed so beautifully. I love supporting our local farmers when I'm in the area. They also have a few animals off to the side of the little market. I love animals so I always enjoy walking over to visit and feed them. And if you want to stop and relax for a few, they have a cute area beyond the animals with fruit trees and picnic tables to sit. Don't forget to ask for a punch card if you will frequent any of the Underwood Farm locations! I have a free $10 after all my visits. read more

Adorable! Loved seeing the farm and animals and feeding them. They only had the little farm and produce shopping available. You can feed the goats, sheep, alpaca and chickens for $.25. We were only there for a little especially there wasn't too much to do but the farm was so nice to visit. I'd love to come back when it's warmer and sunny since we cake on a gloomy rainy day. Luckily it wasn't raining when we got there. It started after. We were able to go in for free but I assume for occasions like Halloween you'll have to pay cover. read more

Driving by and saw the signs for blueberry picking. Pulled into the small outdoor market. So many choices that I ended up trying other berries, tangerines, cherries, strawberries and my favorite multi-color carrots. Everything was so delicious and it kept well in the fridge. It pains me to leave a bad review for this place because I have loved coming here since childhood. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The beautiful fields are so peaceful. The animals are adorable. Fruit picking is cheap and fun. The oatmeal cookies sold at the store are happiness in food form. Buuuut this year there seems to be a pest problem. All of my raspberries and most of my strawberries had little white worms in them and the fruit had collapsed within 24 hours. I feel bad for anyone that has been munching in the field without looking too closely I'll go back to the other location for the rest of this season and give Somis another try next year. But for now I'm cleaning worms out of my fridge and very grossed out. read more

1 star! Usually we LOVE love this place but today's experience made me rethink continuing our support here verse finding new places to support/explore. Had an older gentlemen (not such a gentlemen) was very rude when I asked about my son picking his own berries. We're were even members but I didn't even mention it because of his demeanor. I can't say enough great things about this place. I shop here regularly for my Rabbit but while I'm there I always pick up some type of veggies for my dinner. Everything is so fresh and tasty. I just picked up some amazing heirloom tomatoes for my caperse salad and when I'm making my cheesecakes I use their yummy berries! My rabbit loves their cilantro, parsley, and carrot tops! I was totally excited to go pick raspberries , having done this at a farm near Solvang a couple years back. $3 pp to pick and then $5.99 per lb when you check out. We picked 2 baskets, they weren't that sweet so we washed them twice and put them in jello. To our absolute disgust these little maggot worms came crawling out of the berries... trying to escape being drowned!! Yuck!! Apparently they are these little flies that lay eggs on ripe berries and the larvae/maggots live INSIDE the berries ... blackberries too ... Well that was $15 in raspberries down the drain (literally!)... One extra star bc the animals are adorable and it is a cute farm - but bruhhhhh, you need to warn people about these maggots !! My sis ate all hers before I was able to warn her - and we wouldn't have known had we not put them in jello - the other box we picked we soaked them in hot water and fruit wash and all the maggots died and sank to the bottom. After a less than stellar stop at a different farm stand, it was a delight to be able to visit Underwood Farm Market and have a totally different experience. This location is smaller than the Moorpark full-on farm, but there's still ambiance and great produce here. It was our first time visiting this market, though we've driven by it many dozens of times. Sometimes you just have to stop the car and try something new! Love that they actually have paved parking, instead of a rutted dirt field. Also like that they are spraying down the produce on a regular basis to keep everything as fresh as possible, especially on a hot day. There is the option for pick your own for $3, but we didn't have time for that. Might be fun to bring our little granddaughter for that adventure. They do have a small collection of little farm animals, which she would enjoy, too. We ended up getting a few items to round out our produce stash at home. The heirloom tomatoes looked especially tempting. Summer stone fruit is another thing to buy this time of year. I also chose a small seedless watermelon; which is plenty for Dear Hubby and me, versus a gigantic one. Service was prompt. They definitely seem to know their local repeat customers, and save their biggest smiles for them. It's understandable. As our first time, we weren't in the rhythm of how they do things, but it all worked out well. I noticed that they have some apple varieties that we normally only see out in Oak Glen, so I know where to go to get them closer to home now. Love stopping here on our way to Ventura. Currently it's pick your own blackberries at $3.99 a pound. You can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables from this market. I got the sweetest melons and tomatoes. The farm is smaller than the Moorpark location and easy to move around. They have goats you can feed and picnic tables to enjoy a nice picnic. BUT... this is a great big plus if you're trying to avoid the crowds. I understand that the Moorpark (other) location is more entertaining and is great for parties... I went out of my way this weekend to get Yosemite Gold Mandarins from Underwood Farms because of their nonstop advertising of how delicious it is. These mandarins are $2.29/lb. The peel is similar to the delicious golden nugget mandarin, and it was squishy like a dekopon. Plus, mandarin oranges are delicious. So it held promise! First, Underwood Farms does not allow sampling, so you're buying blind, and not everything they sell is even grown there (although they don't tell you this unless you ask). Second, this is clearly farmers market remnant. They don't even save the best stuff for their own shop. A lot of produce had seen better days. Bruises on pears, brown spots on peaches, mold on strawberries, you get the idea. Third, the staff is rude and unhelpful. As if that weren't enough, the woman weighed my produce at the scale by the register where she and I both were, decided she didn't like the weight her own scale told her, went to another scale that I couldn't see, then entered some random numbers into the cash register. I'm confident I was overcharged. On top of that, these mandarins weren't even as good as cuties that you can get from literally any grocery store. This is a fail. I do not recommend. In fact, I recommend you avoid. read more

Went to underwood farm in Somis for the first time. We normally visit the one in Moorpark so it was a nice change. This one is closer to us since we live in east Ventura. It was a warm day out. We picked some blueberries. There were no strawberries to pick. A ton of raspberries and blackberries though. Small storefront outside sold some fresh produce. Four Pygmy goats were there but you can't feed them. It's a small farm but cute and perfect for our mini trip out of the house. Not so crowded and great for social distancing. 3$ a ticket for 2 and up. 2$ discount with a healthcare ID. Enjoy! read more

My husband and I loved coming to this farm for years. I noticed in the last year and a half that the staff working the registers became progressively ruder and condescending. The last time we went here, I had a produce rewards card full of stamps from previous visits. My husband forgot to present the card at checkout, so when we got back in the car and I saw no credit on our receipt, I took the rewards card and the receipt back in and asked for my credit to be issued back to my debit card. The young woman at the register began arguing with me in front of other customers, and then ultimately yelling at me, accusing me of having just received the stamps on the card that day, and then sneaking back in to try and get free money! I'm a 60-year-old woman, I'm not a thief. I showed her the old card with all the completed stamps, as well as the new card that she had given my husband that day. Still, she continued to argue with me. It was humiliating. It made me absolutely furious. I told her I'd been coming here for years, and that I wouldn't con them for a measly $5 or $10 dollars. At Halloween, we'd spend over $400 on pumpkins and gourds, and this is how they treat us? In the end, the woman just handed me $10, and my husband and I left with a very bad taste in our mouth. We never went back. It's too bad, because the produce is lovely, as is the farm, but their cashiers have ruined the experience. read more

Great day with the Grandchildren. I haven't been here since the parents were little. The same great atmosphere with courteous employees helping and guiding us. The girls had so much fun feeding the Alpacas, the sheep, goats and chickens. I was surprised they wanted to pick fruit but off to pickin' we went. They did a great job finding yummy strawberries, blueberries and a few raspberries. They rode the barrel horses and played on the old truck. We went through the little fruit stand/market with beautiful vegetables and fruit, along with some BBQ sauces, pasta sauces, honey and some other yummies! Good fun and modestly priced for a fun filled day sure to be stored in the " good memories" portion of life!! We have been planning on picking fresh strawberry and blueberries for a while now and finally took some time out. We have been to Underwood's other location prior which is a lot bigger than this one. The Somis is the only one with blueberry picking which is why we came here. It was an hour drive from our home, good sunny weather, we made it a point to reach their on time so as to come early, get the first pick, with less crowd and before it got crazy hot. It was $3 entry fees. They have placed some plastic take away boxes on the way for picking the produce. The strawberries were in full season, it does seem as all of them are gone from the front part but their were ample of good red juicy and sweet strawberries on the back. Did not have much fun picking up the blueberries as they were small and sour. It took us a while to pick the good ones. It was fun though. Picking your own fruit fresh from the nature is a feeling all together different. Overall, we enjoyed picking the strawberries a lot, did even take some fresh veggies from their store. So don't confuse this with the farm. This is the actual storefront location. The farm isn't too far away though. All I know is they have super fresh vegetables, honeys/ jams, sweet ripe fruit, and cute little goats, alpacas and chickens to feed. The goats are greedy. If you keep feeding them the dry food and carrots, they will keep on eating. Carrots are $1 a bag and the dry food is 25 cents. And don't feed the carrots to the chickens, please. read more

We happen to stumble upon this amazing farm market on our way home from Oxnard. I'm so glad we did, the first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful ripe strawberries, of course we grabbed a box. They carry a wide array of super fresh veggies, honey, dry fruit, beef jerky, farm fresh eggs and pickled products. Everything was very well organized and it was kept extremely clean. We purchased veggies for the week , fruit and honey. When hubby paid they accepted AMEX, which was a plus because not everybody does. Also, they offer pick-your-own veggies and fruits. Veggies and fruit vary depending on the month you visit. This place is also great if you have small children ( mine are to "grown " for this, lol) because they have educational tours, an animal center, farm camp & they also host birthday parties there. If you can't make it all the way to their market, keep an eye out for them at farmers' markets they attend throughout Ventura and L.A. county. Best fresh produce ever! read more

Ready to clean out your pockets! Meh. This place has gone from 0 to fab rrrreal quick! At least, that's what they want you to think... I am not impressed with the farm at all. We went the last week of October and to my surprise it was packed. I don't know why really because, again... it's meh! I hope someone reads this and pays attention to this. You walk in and the parking is 10! Organized in every way possible. The line to get inside is a 10! However, you get to the register and it's about $16 per person. I don't recall the price---I just paid it. All well taken care of and COVID protocols everywhere. We walk in and there's tons of families and littles excited to see the animals whom are in clean homes. What surprised me was the lack of photo opportunities. It's the same set up year after year. There wasn't many pumpkins to choose from and that's our fault. However... $16 I would at least expect more photo opportunities. Yes, they have the popular house with all the pumpkins. Yes, you've seen famous people like the Kardashians pose at that cool house. However, more props and changing it up would not hurt. The place to get snacks is always ran down. Not enough options and crazy expensive! You can get popsicles, turkey, some pumpkin bread, and the farmers market produce... always low on product. I little change in regards to what ya'll offer would be nice to see! Of course, I'll go next year and see what ya' have... then I can always change my review. read more

Underwood Farm is the 3rd leg of great places to buy in Somis. The other two being Somis Nut House and Fulkerson Hardware. These three are the gems that decorate the diadem that is rural Somis. Long may it stay an agricultural realm. First, I love going shopping in their little store where I can find 5 different colored radishes as well as Icicle radish, Mizuna Japanese greens, and when in season melons of all varieties vine ripened so that there is a sweet, honey-like melon fragrance hanging heavy in the air. The meat of the melon is tremendously juicy with an top note of the same honey-like flavour lingering on your tongue. The melons here deserve royal treatment by wrapping Prosciutto di Parma around slices of melon ecstasy. In summer and early fall, it is the season to go picking for bush ripened raspberries and black berries. Don't come in your Ferragamo stiletto heels and your silk crepe de chine outfit from Channel. Wear heavy jeans, long sleeved shirts, and thin pliable gloves since the raspberry and blackberry bushes have sharp thorns. If you happen to be a self-inflicting masochist, then picking the berries naked will definitely make you one happy camper. Also not recommended with those with walking disabilities since the ground between the bushes can be uneven and loose probably due to cultivation to get rid of the weeds earlier in the season and falling against the bushes is not entertaining. My friend April and I picked about a pound of black berries in about 45 minutes since we only took the most ripened by the sun. We made a pit stop at Trader Joe's and bought their Double Rainbow French Vanilla Ice Cream. Black berries and Cream was a decadent, orgasm releasing combination that you have got to try. I salute Underwood Farms for its fresh vegetables and fruits as well as giving us city slickers a chance to experience the farm even for only a short time. The staff at Underwood Farms is very friendly, informative and helpful. The whole place is full of pleasant delights. Great place to bring the kids, but I hear there is more for them to do at the Moorpark branch of Underwood Farm, but I have not been there to confirm. read more

Then we took a few pictures on some play horses they have on site, followed that by picking our own strawberries. While some are getting wild and crazy on Memorial Day (I tend to do that most everyday of the week) I was delighted when a certain someone suggested the best thing a blueberry lover like me could hear... blueberry picking! Holy Hell Yes!!! We had the most fabulous, serene, peaceful and fun experience at the Somis, Underwood Farm this afternoon. Blueberries are $3.99/pound and that's $3.99/pound for what you've put in the container. I nearly felt as though, they should have put me on the scale before I stepped onto the farm and when I left because I had my fair share of "samples". I'm lucky my teeth were still white by the time we made it inside to the cashier ;) We arrived to the farm around 2P and picked until almost 4P. The sun was shining, so a hat and sunscreen are always a good idea - you may also want to bring a water bottle. You know, to wash all the blueberries down ;) or better yet a spoon and a yogurt and just dump a few in as a snack while you pick. Why didn't I think of this earlier??? This is really the cutest date spot for any blueberry lover and a perfect way to spend a few hours for the kiddos, families, friends, and just about anyone really. I had a wonderful time and can't wait to return when the raspberries and blackberries are ready in the next month or so. If you are a lover of blueberries this is an opportunity you do not want to pass up! The blueberries are fantastic. I can't wait to eat my entire 2.5 pounds this week. Antioxidants here I come! I may even have to whip up blueberry muffins and pancakes. Oh! You may also wish to bring wipes to clean your hands off with after, they have porta potties and a pump station with water to wash your hands. Love this place! read more

I came here again yesterday on Memorial Weekend. I chose the Somis location over the Moorpark location because it's smaller so probably less crowded. They have porta-potties available and plenty of hand-washing stations. Masks are required. While there were plenty of people there, the fields are big enough that you can easily stay away from others. Strawberries and blueberries are available to be picked now and are charged per pound. Blackberries & Raspberries will be available in June & July. You can still look at the animals (very few) but interacting with them is closed during this time. Wear sunscreen as it's all out in the open sun. Wagons are free to use and variety of fresh fruit and veggies are available at the front for purchase. All in all, not nearly as big as the other location but still fun and delicious!! read more
