5 star venue (really awesome area with a bunch of tables. It weather is nice go for sure) 4 star beer (good beer not a huge selection) 3 star pretzels (cold and hard with all the salt in one spot)

The beer garden is the oldest in Berlin- 1837. We came here after dinner, but there is a restaurant here too. There are plenty of communal tables and benches. I don't really drink beer, but it's a nice place to hang out.

Prater Biergarten has a great selection of German beers as well as some tasty bites to eat while you drink. There's plenty of seating here-- we spent a few hours just hanging out and talking and trying different beers.

This beer garden is huge and worth a visit, if not to drink than for another German experience. The beer and food selection are not huge but the variety makes up for it. I enjoyed everything we ordered. This is good because trying to make decisions on what to drink and eat is a buzzkill. Good place for a getogether regardless of group size. It was also full of students, the after work crowd, and us tourists. Good times and I could see myself staying there for hours!

I found this place via travel blog recommendations of this being the oldest Beer Garden in Berlin. Huge seating areas under the trees with tons of picnic tables as well as a connected restaurant. Really fun place to experience a beer garden with a good atmosphere and good beer. Got pretty crowded as the night went on, but with the open space it never got forbiddingly loud with was great.

Solid beers in a peaceful forest-like setting in the middle of East Berlin. Come here to hang out and laze the day away with friends. The place is really big and you're bound to find a seat. Lots of great eats all around the area as well. So, you could easily make an entire day of hanging out here and exploring the neighborhood.

Excellent food. The staff spoke English very well. We started with the potatoes and sausage soup. Delicious! Had the Weinerschnitzel, Meatballs, and beef goulash for entrees. Had the Berliner beer which very sweet. Service was friendly but a bit slow. Had the semolina flour and plum compote. The garten is split with the sit dow serve area and a serve yourself a ginormous hot dog. Will visit here again beer.

Imagine that gorgeous hollandaise being dripped over these succulent white asparagus beauties. A fantasy come true.

The anticipation as we walked through the long outdoor entrance path of Prater Garten was high. Easter Sunday was upon us, and we were searching for our own resurrection. Would we find it here? WE DID! And we were able to happily celebrate with a few of our friends that met us there. A great place for groups and good company with plenty of tables and space to spread out. A beautiful sunny day shone on us as we all merrily drank sparkling wine and coffee. For beer is not the only beverage here. On top of this, we were able to enjoy one of the natural wonders of this world - the elusive and seasonal white asparagus paired with the fluffiest hollandaise you could snuggle with. All around a delicious experience and a perfect Easter for us.

This place is a must visit in Berlin. They don't have many vegetarian options, but they serve legit German food as well as the best apple strudel I tried in Berlin. The atmosphere and abundant seating make this place one of a kind. There is also a wine selection for those who are not really into beer, and fast service.

My very FIRST biergarten experience! I enchanced my beer chugging skills at Prater Garten. In atypical, glorious Berlin sunshine, I was holding my half a liter Prater Pils grinning ear to ear like some tourist who just stumbled on the best find ever! Super casual, buzzing with a friendly crowd and lots of Euro languages being thrown about (of course, we had to sit right NEXT to the Italians!), everyone here just had a good time. The yellow communal seating were very inviting underneath the shade of the Chestnut trees, the bathrooms were clean and ordering at the window is fast and easy. Bring your family, your friends, invite your Tinder date (yup! he showed up and she was googly-gaga over him!) or was it just the beer buzz? either way, FUN times in Berlin!

I was staying with friends that just moved to Prenzlauer Berg, but before that had done my research on where to eat and drink in Berlin. This was at the top of my list, from the Rick Steve's videos to just experiencing an official German Biergarten, especially the oldest. It was like 2 blocks from where they live. Located in a fun neighborhood, you'll easily see the entrance sign, walking into a small courtyard before you get to the main tables. I think there was a stage in one far corner, but come any afternoon for drinking, snacks, and second hand smoke. It is self service, so head up to the beer counter first, I went with a half liter of their top Pilsner. Then turn to your right and order some food. They have pretzels, meatballs, and I got a sausage mit brot, which is a tiny dinner roll so you can eat it with your hands. Then grab a seat on any bench. The weather was perfect when we went, some nice shade, fun people watching. Highly recommend this if visiting Germany whether for an afternoon pit stop or a fun evening.

    A lovely stop for a mid-day beer.

Prater Garten was a little bit off the beaten path, so it was actually quite quiet (and half empty) when we went one afternoon in August. We enjoyed a couple beers and had a whole table to ourselves to play cards and hang out. Plenty of people around us were eating, and the food looked quite good. Would recommend this as a beer garden away from all the tourists!

A must visit in Berlin! I think it's one of the oldest beer gardens around and largest. It's great for a nice sunny day but there is also a restaurant inside if it's cold or late at night. Order the Beef and potatoes and Pilsner!

Meatballs, delicious on a cold day.

We came here after having been turned away by an Indonesian restaurant that was "full for the night". We are so glad that fate brought us here instead of that Indonesian restaurant!! What were we even thinking anyway -- forget the Indonesian food, get the local specialities!! Ordered the schnitzel as well as the meatballs and both were executed perfectly. Schnitzel was hot and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside -- not overly salty either. Meatballs were juicy and packed with flavor from the minced onions that they had mixed in. The beer (we ordered a Pilsner) was the best that we had tried in all of the Berlin and Dresden restaurants that we visited. I believe it is from some small private brewery affiliated with the restaurant somehow. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right, so definitely order the house beer. Super cozy seating (you'll probably be sharing a table with other guests) and packed all night long but amazing vibes and casual comfort food. Would come back if I ever visit Berlin again!

We tried to go to a nearby Greek place but they were full and kind of rude too. We walked over here and the place was empty at 6:30 pm so a bit worried. No need. The draft Pilsner was very excellent and the food was outstanding and reasonably priced. We got pork schnitzel and meatballs and it was really very tasty. Would recommend!

The asparagus came with a great butter and breadcrumbs sauce which drizzled on the potatoes was amazing. As silly as it sounds the boiled potatoes were the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked through but not mushy and they kept their shape. Pretzel was excellent as was the pork schnitzel, pounded thin and perfectly fried. We finished with apple strudel with ice cream, which was just ok, maybe a 3 for me. The waitress was quite surly and we had to chase her down to order after sitting there for 15 minutes without anyone coming to the table. That was the only real downside, though I noticed other tables were getting served quickly, so maybe it's a one-off thing only. Restaurant is quite big with lots of seating, many beer options and nice clean bathrooms downstairs as well.

Walking in the door gives you the feeling of dining in a Bavarian beer hall where there are plenty of locals enjoying the atmosphere. For us tourists, photos are included for most of the menu selections. I tried their signature dish: knuckle with cabbage and a potato dumpling. Even the half portion was huge! The veal schnitzel and steak entrees were also delicious. My server spoke little English, so knowledge of German would be a plus if dining here. The restaurant seems to be known for their beer and has quite a selection, however, a smaller wine menu is also available. I would definitely recommend making a reservation or coming early. As my friends and I were leaving, the line for entry was out the door.
