Before booking, I sent multiple photos of the project, and based on those photos they provided me with a quote. The following day they increased the price, which I accepted because I wanted to get the job completed. Once the crew arrived, I was told they couldn't use the skid steer in parts of the yard because of the limited access and underground utilities. These were issues that should have been identified before quoting the job since they had multiple photos in advance. Instead, I was faced with another request to increase the price. I also wasn't informed ahead of time that the amount of dirt would require an additional load and that the cost would double. Better communication and a proper assessment before providing a quote would have avoided these surprises. The biggest disappointment was management's communication. Rather than working professionally to resolve the situation, I received repeated phone calls pressuring me about the job and additional costs. It came across as unprofessional and frustrating. The only positive part of my experience was the crew. The workers were hardworking, polite, and did their best under the circumstances. Unfortunately, the management and quoting process overshadowed the quality of their work

Due to the difficulty and risk involved for excavation, it was hard to find a contractor to take on the job but from my initial consult with Victor, him and his team noted their experience with these scenarios and he was confident they can do it in less than a day. On excavation day they brought the necessary equipment and tools and were very cautious about the gas pipe. They ended up finishing the job in less than a half day! To follow up, we realized we needed more excavation at the apron of the driveway and Victor again came to the rescue and excavated that for us a week later. I sincerely appreciate the time efficiency and skill that Victor and his team have in getting our excavation needs completed. I don't write many reviews anymore, and honestly, I haven't had many contractor experiences that…read morewould motivate me to change that. But Lassiter Excavation was so good that I couldn't continue to be lazy.  For context, I was replacing an old 35,000-gallon swimming pool with a skinnier lap pool. Lassiter started by completely removing the massive 1975 pool, including every scrap of concrete and piping.  Then they backfilled and compacted. Working to my soils engineer's specifications, they imported and compacted 18 truckloads of quarry fines in carefully controlled 8-inch lifts through the full 12-foot depth of the deep end, all the way to finished grade. They used multiple pieces of equipment, including jumping jacks, a Bobcat, and a vibratory sheepsfoot roller (which I had to look up), and they coordinated compaction testing throughout the process.  When they were done, it looked like a pool had never been there. The site was fully prepared for the new excavation, which Lassiter then completed flawlessly.  I measured their forms with a laser level and laser tape measure, and length, width, diagonals, position and elevations were all within 1/8 inch. That's impressive considering the new lap pool is nearly 60 feet long. When they were finished digging, the walls and floor were razor straight and right on their marks. The crews were outstanding -- friendly, hardworking, detail-oriented, and consistently professional. They maintained an exceptionally clean jobsite throughout the project and even helped me reclaim some old redwood decking.  Special thanks to Santana, Ricardo, Daniel, Jose and team for answering all my questions and caring so much about the end result. If you're considering any excavation work, I highly recommend reaching out to Lassiter Excavation and talking with Bob. They exceeded my expectations in every respect.

My coworker stumbled on this company's site and I gave them a call to set up a meeting for an estimate. The guy I spoke to, Durval, said he would come out the next day. He didn't show and when I called he said he thought it was the following day. Easy mistake, so my husband agreed to meet him the following night. I did receive a call from him about 15 minutes before he was supposed to meet my husband at our house asking what our address was. I had already texted it to him as requested so I found this somewhat unprofessional/disorganized. I got home just as he was leaving so I guess he figured it out or called my husband as I had suggested. My husband seemed happy with the estimate and we decided we'd like to move forward with the work. Durval said he'd be available to do the work late the next week. My husband called to schedule the work and on Wednesday, Durval said his crew could do the work possibly Thursday and if not, then Friday. It sounded great to us. We were super excited and decided we'd take the day off from work on Friday to either get started on laying our patio or at least get to see the excavation work in progress. Nobody showed up Thursday. Or Friday. We've left 5-6 voicemails wondering what the hell happened. Not a single response. Not so much as a "something came up, we couldn't do it". I am super pissed that we relied on this man's word. I would strongly NOT recommended contacting this company for excavation/hauling services. They may give you a good bid, but then they may never show up to do the work!
