I've been able to put up with their terrible communication and weird hours because they usually do such an amazing job with my Aussie. I only take him 1-2 times a year for a little trim and clean up. I always specify no shaving because he has a double coat, and it has never been a problem in the past. But this time I showed up to a completely different dog. His entire coat had been completely shaved off. Now I'll be working on it for the next several months and praying it grows back normal. They were literally told not to shave him, and it's not like we're new customers. Will not be returning here.

My girl is very timid and calm, so I find it appalling that every time I pick her up she has cuts, razor burns, and nails clipped until they are bleeding. I took her for her usual monthly grooming just a few days ago and when I went to pick her up she looked nothing like the pup I dropped off for a "light trim" and her ear was dripping blood, they're explanation, "she must have scratched herself." Golden Acres Kennel looked nice online, although I felt it was pretty expensive; boarding was $35 to about $55 a day, depending on accommodations; still, I thought we would at least check it out, so we decided to visit. We parked the car and went into what looked like the entrance. Upon entering, I almost passed out from the horrible smell of dog waste. It was stagnant, no ventilation whatsoever. There was no one there, except a little dog wandering around the premises alone. Anyone could have snatched him up in a second. I could also hear another dog in the room to the right. There was a table with computer/keyboard set up, phone, notes on the wall about how to treat customers, etc, I looked toward the large room to the left and was incredulous. This room smelled horrible. It was filled with waste and littered with broken pieces of furniture, smelly dog beds, etc. The filth was unbelievable. Also piled up were many empty dog food bags and garbage of all sorts. We went outside, looked around to see if we could find someone, without luck. We walked to the side, just near the "office", where there were penned up about 20 dogs: all sizes, all kinds, including pit bulls and other large dogs mixed in with tiny dogs. They were in a fenced enclosure on cement, on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, sun beating down and no water bowls visible. The fence had been bowed out where the dogs had been pushing on it, as they were when we saw them. They were totally unsupervised. We got into the car and drove toward the back and found another dog, penned in a large grassy area behind another barn, totally alone. We drove back to the office and entered again, calling out repeatedly, again, for someone. No one came. We were there totally about 15 minutes or so before we left, all the while trying to find someone responsible here. There was no one. I was horrified at what I saw and experienced here. I cannot give this place a low enough rating.
