Very poor shop for a repair. Would warn anyone against this shop less they enjoy being treated like an idiot and robbed in the process. Brought a vehicle in for a simple repair that I needed done quickly and didn't have time to do myself. They took forever to get to it and destroyed more components in the process! I called for a warranty of the parts that failed in under a week and was treated as if I was a lying toddler and knew nothing about the vehicle. After bringing it down (via specific time appointment) for them to inspect the faulty part and the damage THEY incurred, they let the vehicle set for over a day before even inspecting. Upon finally inspecting the vehicle they call to tell me all the damage was MY fault and existed prior to their work on it. On top of it all, the rate I was quoted at for them to fix the issues they created was just plain thievery. Claiming to split the labor cost of the repair (which I had to do myself in the end and took me but an hour!) at $175!! That means these guys are charging ~$350 an hour to break your vehicle and install faulty components! When you bring a straight and dry vehicle in for a simple part replacement and receive it back with grease spewing out of the axles and oil puking out of the seal (which can only be damaged upon installation of said replacement part) it screams incompetent mechanics. And when the poor work is followed up with dismal customer service and refusing responsibility for their mistakes its makes for a headache inducing, and expensive nightmare. Even if your vehicle is busted and you're in a rush, avoid this shop. You're better off walking, it's a lot cheaper. read more

The worst experience I have ever had. I just asked them to look at my security system. So they pulled my starter without asking. Something I have done on that car before. I asked them to replace a pvc valve and instead they stuck a bolt up the hose and a rubber quark in the engine. They are a joke. Terrible work. Shady people. I walked in for a tire repair at lunchtime and like most I was in a bit of a hurry being an out of town hunter. The nice lady at the counter (I wish I got her name) offered to find another place in town who could service me quicker. Long story short, my experience at the other place was not favorable. I wish I would have just waited for Precision to take care of me after lunch. While at Precision, I saw the interaction the 3 counter people had with 2 two other customers and my impression is they are very courteous and trustworthy. If I lived there, they are the tire/auto service company I would give business to. read more

Precision recently diagnosed (for a fee) the acceleration issue with my Ford. They then told me they completed the repair (lightened my wallet for several hundred dollars). Well the issue still existed the next day! I returned to their shop and they want to charge me another diagnostic fee since they were clueless with their original diagnosis or they installed a bad part or installed the part wrong. Basically they do NOT stand behind their work. Will not spend another nickel at this establishment. read more

Out of towers Beware! I smashed into a curb on vacation in the 30" of snow on the mountain. Created butte doesn't have an alignment machine so Gunnison is the next town over with one. I was charged $97 for an alignment here- $25 more than my last alignment. It took an hour and a half including the 13 minutes it took them to take my car into the garage in the first place after signing in for my appointment! I had an 8am appointment and got there at 7:45. Literally couldn't get anyone to make eye contact, much less open a door before 8 came around. Once it was done I noticed some numbers on the paperwork that didn't indicate where they needed to be in regards to the alignment. I ask the guy checking me out, Anthony, who couldn't tell me why those numbers were off but insisted he had a "$100,000 machine in there- I know I didn't mess up." He suggested those parts of the car "couldn't be adjusted..." So you're suggesting I need a new car now or what? He was LITERALLY yelling at me at this point and all I wanted to know was what was wrong and how I could fix it. Seems reasonable for an auto repair shop to explain that sort of thing. I saw him being rude to the customer in front of me but never imagined he would yell at me. Tiffany set my appointment over the phone and she was super sweet but this Anthony character was more than reason enough to give this place a "0" for customer service. After being overcharged for what I felt took too long, I was given an alignment result that showed they didn't even finish the job correctly. I spent $100 bucks for a mechanic to yell at me for not finishing his job! Steer clear of this shop and a message to management, Anthony is miserable! read more

The service and professionalism at this place is a joke. I came in to see if they could simply diagnose a problem with my 2007 passats front defroster. All that would need to be done is to hook up a VagCom and bam, it would give an error code for the fault. I have had a lot of experience with car repair facilities and the usual charge for such a minor diagnosis would be around 20$. The guy at the counter who seemed pissed to see a customer, told me that no matter what the issue. He would charge over 100$ an hour for "labor costs". What a crock. I have heard bad things about this place but I guess I just had to see for myself. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother walking in. You will undoubtably leave disappointed. read more

Very disappointed. I had an appointment for some service today, only to learn that they were backed up and would be delayed for about an hour. 4 hours later, I returned to check in on my car and saw it in exactly the same location that I had parked it. Turns out, the part they had ordered from another mechanic was defective and they couldn't make the necessary repairs. They should have called me with this information immediately, not waited to casually inform me once I had arrived back at the shop. read more

After breaking down on July 4th, 2017 in Lake City, and being towed back to Gunnison where my hotel was, the wrecker operator(who was amazing, but that is another review) recommended Precision. I left my 2003 Hummer on their lot and awaited their opening at 8 am the next day. I feared that being a tourist I might have trouble getting work done in short order. Not only did these folks get me on the road by 11 am, at a decent price, they washed it too! Thank you for excellent customer service! Rare these days! read more

I was an out of town RV'er passing through town who happened upon this business. The man at counter came out to check my 2nd battery voltage since my furnace wasn't working. He noticed that the battery cables were attached but not with nuts so he sold me two nuts that for some reason he decided to personally put on and tighten....then he charged me $20 for the 2 nuts. After a horrific experience with another auto repair shop in Gunnison, Precision fixed the original mistake in my college student's vehicle at a fair price. This business preys on college students. DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. My daughter took her car to Precision after being in a small accident. She told them that the windshield wiper fluid reservoir would not hold wiper fluid and that the plastic protector under the engine was loose from the accident. They had the car for less than two hours. The bill was $212.29. THEY DID VIRTUALLY NO WORK. They charged my daughter $57.44 to diagnose the fact that when you poured wiper fluid in the windshield wiper reservoir it ran right out on the ground. Of course she told them this. That's why she brought the car in. They charged another $80.41 for a "noise inspection." Apparently they listened to the engine, heard the belts squeal and advised her to replace the belts for another $196.50. She did not have them replace the belts. But to listen to the engine and tell her the belts squealed they still charged her $80.41. The only work they did (allegedly) was to secure the plastic protector under the engine which was loose. For this they charged only $57.44. My daughter called me when she got back to Western State. I called Precision. They were unapologetic and refused my request for a refund of any kind. And they said that none of the "inspection" charges would be credited toward the repairs. I recommend that you do not do business with these people. And if your son or daughter has a car at Western State, tell them to have their car serviced elsewhere. They don't deserve your business. David S. read more

These guys are fucking snakes. The quality of work is second to shit. They had one task to do which was an alignment. And I told them don't do anything to mess it up and they assured me they wouldn't. But low and behold guess what they fucked it up. I would say if your going to let them work on your car a toddler might do a better job. I've wasted 2 days of my life trying to figure out wtf they did with it and guess what when they know they have fucked up they nickel and dime you for more fucking money it's sick. So do yourself a favor and go anywhere else but precision automotive. I will be sending them a bill for someone else to fix it. I had to give this business 2 stars because the quality of their work is beyond reproach...BUT other than that there are no positives in dealing with this business. They are WAY overpriced and only more than willing to to steal your wallet (if given half the opportunity). Their customer service skills are not only lacking, but nonexistent. The service manager is not only rude but also self absorbed to the point of being obnoxious. After a bad experience with Mechanic on Duty, I decided to try Precision Automotive. They were very friendly and checked to see if I would be waiting when I made the appointment. They got my car in at the the time of my appointment and quickly got it finished. They have a nice waiting area and a shuttle. I would highly recommend them! read more

As an out of towner hauling a heavy load my truck started sounding like a Harley passing by Gunnison. I am so glad I found this shop after being told to come back in five days by another shop. They did an excellent up front interview of the problem, even offered a rental if I needed another car while it was being fixed, then identified the engine issue and fixed it same day at very reasonable price. As it turned out it was a blown out spark plug caused by stripped threads in the cylinder head, takes far more work and effort than your average tuneup. read more

I don't ever write reviews, but this is how much I hate Precision. First of all, I dropped my vehicle off with them the night before they said they would look at it. hadn't heard from them until about 11AM the next day so I called to check the status of my car. They said they had one vehicle ahead of mine. Called back around 1. They STILL hadn't looked at it. Then, they finally got done with my car and sent me to another place because I needed my exhaust welded. Charged 50 bucks just for that, and I had to wait another 20 minutes to get my car off the rack because of the shop's lack of communication with each other. So I took my car over to the muffler shop, the guy took me with him into the shop, showed me what was wrong, and could not believe I paid Precision 50 bucks for what he had showed me within 10 minutes of me walking in. Precision go screw yourself and your high prices and SHITTY customer service. I'll take my car somewhere else. read more
