The garage door broke yesterday and during this damn COVID-19 lockdown I was highly annoyed and wanted to get it fixed fast. I saw Precision's commercial on KTVU and did some research on Yelp. Given their solid ratings, I decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did. I sent a contact request from their website this morning and received a call not long after. They would have a technician over in about 2 hours. Jerry was on time and courteous. He examined the door, determined that both torsion screws needed replacing and got to work. 1 hour later, it was all fixed and ready to go. The door moves smoothly and silently. last year precision installed a new door opener. called this year for other issues with door. tech tells me they did not install my opener because they do not install diy products. I guess the check I made out to precision door that got cashed by the corporation did not happen according to them. the tech gave me an est of over $2000.00 to replace bearings etc. I laughed. I thought they were a good company but I was wrong. not only do I not recommend them but I recommend running away. p.s. corporate called me and continued to claim the did not do the work... if that is the case than they have questionable employees. As a follow up I had contra costa door come and repair my problem for $230.00 one tenth the cost and it works like new. Again avoid precision door. read more

I called and requested for a quote for an apartment garage repair. We had a very courteous and knowledgeable technician, Mario. I was charged $50 for the initial quote. After contacting the company within minutes of receiving the quote, I was advised that I would need to pay an additional $50 to get service completed or I would need to wait several days for Mario to come back. (Note: This was within 5 minutes of getting the quote.) In addition, Pricilla and Lynn advised me over the phone that if I had the service completed at the time of quote, they would have only charged me $25 (half) for the initial quote, which I was never advised about. If I had known this, I would have requested Mario to complete the job immediately. I ended up finding another local company with honest company policies that take the time to inform their customers about all the fees included. I would rather pay more money for a service from an honest company than pay a dishonest company (Precision) with bad business practices. I would NOT recommend using Precision Door Service. read more

Initially, I had Precision install a new garage door and all new parts in late November 2020. I was very happy with the whole experience. Fast forward to October 2023 and I started having problems with my garage door not shutting. Finally one day, my door would not shut so I called Precision back. They came same day which was great but the technician said that I needed a new coil and new wheels and new this and new that. The door and parts were not even 3 years old yet! It was late in the day and I needed the door shut so I had them do the work. The repair costed MORE than it did to install the door!! Door install was $1808. Repair to door was $1872. I felt so incredibly ripped off. I reached out to two friends out of state that do this work and they said that I totally got ripped off. Very sad since my initial experience was so great. After the warranty period, I won't use Precision again. I gave 2 stars because they did come same day and did fix the door at an exorbitant cost read more

My neighbor's son happen to be over his parents house (visiting from upstate New York) and he came over to see what was going on. He is a general contractor and sat in on the service review. Before his arrival, he had called to let me know his approximate arrival time so that I didn't have to wait around. After he inspected and assessed the situation, he explained to me in details what had caused the problems. He shared with me tips to prevent the same problem from happening. He went above and beyond to check and fix every issue he found. After the repairs, he spent time testing the door carefully and showing me the features and functions of the garage door system that I never even knew! My original post complained that the mail slot rusted about 18 months after they sold me the garage door and they wouldn't replace or even sell me a replacement. Well, they did eventually phone me, apologize, and send me a replacement mail slot at no charge. So good on them for eventually standing behind their product. I actually WOULD use them again despite this - these mail slots do rust, they are just plated/not solid brass, and they can be upgraded if you want to buy one on your own. Only 4 stars because they initially didn't want to replace it and because the new doors don't offer the option of a better mail slot at increased price (they do have many other options, just not for this) read more

I recently purchased my home and it turns out, my garage door and opener was over 15 years old so, no surprise, everything was falling apart. On a Sunday night at around 10:30 PM my door went off the track. I called Precision and as someone answered the phone as promised. Mario showed up Monday morning at 8am on the dot and quickly got the door back on track. I then took his advice and had other repairs done (rollers, springs), and even a new garage door opener. My only issue with the company is that the price charged for the opener was a bit higher than their competitors were charging for the same opener. Precision Door is amazing - I'll never use anyone else! I called them up at 9:30pm on Labor Day with an emergency -- my tension spring had broken and I couldn't access my garage at all -- and they answered the phone with a REAL HUMAN BEING who scheduled an appointment for the next morning. The appointment was a 4-hour window, and you know how those go -- it usually means that someone comes 5 minutes before the end of that window and then you have to wait hours more while the work is done. Not Precision Door -- I was quoted an 8am-12pm window, and Josh Kinder came at 9am, after calling at 8:30 to tell me when to expect him. Once he showed up, Josh impressively maneuvered up my busy street into my narrow driveway, inspected the door, and discussed options. He had a great attitude, explained how the door worked, how all the components worked together, and what needed to be done to get it up and running. It hadn't been serviced in 20 years, so needed some TLC. After looking at the state of things, I decided to do a full overhaul -- replace the spring, cables, 2 hinges, end springs, center bearing, and rollers. Josh said he would be done in a little over an hour - I seriously thought he was joking. He's only 1 person, didn't bring anyone else with him, and the door weighs like 250lbs, and there are lots of pieces to hold together, etc. It would take me a few hours to do ANY of those tasks, let alone all of them. I thought he'd be working on it for hours, easily. Maybe he'd need more guys. But I left him to it. A little over an hour later, he was done -- he told me he had to move a track bracket which took extra time, and he even crafted a clever installation for my safety sensor which had never had enough clearance to be installed properly. After his work, the door opened quietly and smoothly and like magic - not like the clunking, hulking, rattling beast I had become accustomed to. Had a recent service request responded to by one of their staff, named Travis. I had been having trouble with the non-functioning outdoor keypad. He arrived, explained why the keypad was not working---because it was over 11 years old and some of the key contacts were corroded. He tested the pad to be sure, and then provided a new keypad, which after allowing me to privately set a new 4 digit code, he installed it. Retested it. Showed me how to re-program it, if I ever wanted to change the code, etc. He gave me tips on how to keep the hinges on the panels of the door, lubricated and other helpful comments on how I can keep my garage door trouble free for years to come. And that goes for the keypad too. He was thorough, knowledgeable and helpful. He arrived on time too. I am a repeat customer of Precision Door, with their last visit in 2010. That's how good their last service was. 11 years since then, with no problems, until a few days ago. Travis fixed what I needed and I should be able to be spared any future problems with the door or keypad opener for a long time to come. I'm a very pleased customer. read more

Jerry is A wonderful garage technician that came out to our home. He was on time for our appointment And wore a mask the entire interaction. Watching him inspect our garage door and what problems are present on our garage door you can tell he has been installing garage doors for a long time and he really knows his stuff. He took the time to explain everything and didn't mind repeating information when my parents or I asked questions. We just had our garage door replaced in the pass 5 years and I appreciated the suggestions he offered to help make our garage door investment last longer. Paul from Precision showed up, at first it seemed legit but soon after he did his inspection of the garage door and the entire set up it all began. We previously called and explained that we had a broken spring and needed a replacement. After his inspection he started piling on the charges and things he said should be replaced. The initial spring replacement would cost around $745.00, then it went up to $1, 000.00 plus and ended up at around $2,700.00 all with replacing the bearings and wheels and cables and motor ( so it would be quieter), also with a suggestion to get a new door. If we just replaced the spring, I asked what would be the charge for another garage door opener ( I have an old Genie system) .He wanted to charge me $100.00 for a new remote control and said it would be another $100.00 to program it. I've programmed them before, it's very simple - takes just a few minutes. In conclusion , we just paid the service fee of $50.00 and said we want to get other quotes. I understand they probably work on commission but he up charged everything. We finally called another company and the guy did a fast and excellent job that cost $ 345.00 to replace the initial problem. I forgot to add: I mentioned that I wanted to get my car out of the garage. I am aware that you have to disengage the garage door by pulling on the cord, which I previously did, but I heard a loud popping sound and thought I damaged it worse. Giving it some thought afterwards it was just the door being disengaged. Paul, the tech replied , you can't open the door unless you're some kind of Superman. I tried again, but this time I pulled the cord the wrong way. He commented if you buy something from me I can get it open. What a clown! Not a very trustworthy or nice person, I will never call this company again and advise anyone seeking their help to heed the warning. read more

I had a misalignment of the door obstruction sensors. This prevented the door from operating. I called Precision late at night and they had a person on-site less than 12-hours later. Sheridan adjusted/aligned the sensor (I must have bumped it with a garbage can). It was fixed in minutes and since equipment was recently installed, there was no charge for the repair. My garage door would open but wouldn't close. After checking online I learned that the problem was a broken security sensor light , so this wasn't a repair I could do myself. Mario replaced the security sensor, but as they come in pairs he had to replace the transmitter and receiver sensors. He also did a diagnostic check of my garage door and lubricated the runners as part of the service call charge, which is currently $49.95. At the time of service there was a coupon on Precision Door's website to discount this charge. Their minimum labor charge was $89. The price was higher than I expected (a total of $246 including $144 for parts) but they did a professional job and guarantee their work for 1 year parts and 90 days labor. They also offer same day service and I believe operate 7x24. This is the second company (the last was a hot water heater company) on Yelp who asked me for a positive review and mentioned that their income is based on positive reviews, which is something I'm not a fan of. On the positive side Precision Door is a family owned, Bay Area company. read more

He was courteous and also tightened our chain so that our garage door operated more quietly and didn't charge us for services that we didn't need (new door, new bearings). Fantastic service and top quality work! We have now had several opportunities to use the services of Precision Door Service. They are amazing! They respond to calls quickly and they take the time that is necessary to fix the problem. I particularly want to recognize Gabriel V. who helped adjust our door after we had a special strip installed to prevent rodents from entering the garage. The strip was very thick and changed the balance of the door so it wouldn't close.
