My wife and I had a wonderful experience with Timothy Rainey at Precision. Several months ago, we had a simple request for a garage door opener repair. We used a company, Total Garage Solutions (TSG), sent over from American Home Shield (AHS), a home maintenance warranty company we use. The technician told us our repair was not the garage door "opener," but all of the parts connected to the door AND that it would not be covered by "AHS." He told us it would cost us about $900 to fix. We declined and said we would contact AHS, etc. The repairman told us that since it was a week before Christmas, he would do the repairs for about $500 and assured us everything would be covered by a warrantee, etc. We accepted. About four months later, we had another problem. We called them back and they said our warrantee was over and this would be a separate call and probably would not be covered. I called AHS and they suggested we use another service as they only cover the motor. Timothy came out on Saturday evening and immediately told me it WAS the motor and said it should have been caught when the other work was done. I called AHS and they told me that IF Timothy was correct, it would be covered, but they also made a million excuses in advance that they wouldn't cover it, i.e., another tech looked at our opener, etc. My wife and I decided to just let Timothy fix the garage door. AHS said they would send the same repairman out to the house. We would have had to pay all over again. Timothy charged us a little more that the AHS service call. He fixed the problem AND cleaned our garage within a few minutes. In fact, we spent more time just talking than it took him to fix the opener. He gave us several choices, including replacing the opener completely and receiving a long warrantee or just replacing the actual part that needed replacing which would save us hundreds of dollars and would also last several years. He told us the benefits of each solution. Instead of forcing me to buy a whole new opener, he suggested just replacing the part. Timothy was very professional and was extremely nice. He was funny and I never felt as if I was being taken advantage of. I also realized it is time to stop paying a monthly fee to American Home Shield who has never repaired anything in my home - they have always had an excuse why something was not covered. read more

Contacted Precision Door Services on a Fri, appointment was scheduled for Mon. between 12-4 PM and confirmation email was received within minutes. The phone operator was polite and experienced enough to repeat all pertinent details before concluding the call. Kevin S, the assigned service technician kept me informed during the scheduled service window which was appreciated since he was running late. I particularly liked that all service technicians are profiled on the company website, a practice that other service companies should adopt. When I called, I had stated that both garage door openers needed to be replaced and mentioned the LiftMaster 8550 which I knew was highly-rated and just happened to be featured with a coupon from Precision Door. Kevin arrived around 4 PM and I assumed would just be providing an estimate. After discussing the openers and also including a complete garage door hardware update ( the original installation was around 1994 by the home's previous owners ), I was surprised when Kevin stated he had all the equipment he needed to perform the service and could do it right then even given it already 4:30 PM. Kevin was polite, friendly, knowledgeable, effective, didn't leave any garbage behind finished the job in about 2 hrs. He then demonstrated the features of the new openers and promised to return with the battery back-ups which he discovered he didn't have on his truck. True to his word, he returned just this morning and installed the back-ups. From start to finish, this was a great service experience and if the LiftMaster's perform as advertised I will be completely satisfied. I could not be happier with the decision to use Precision. Within a few weeks of moving into our first home, it was apparent that we needed to replace our 20 year old garage doors. I setup an appointment with one of the Sales Managers, Vince. He really listened to our needs and our budget. I was clueless, but he walked me through each step. He had pictures of all the choices and within 15 minutes I had everything ordered. It couldn't have been any easier. Theresa from the office called me as soon as my doors came in to setup the installation. I was sent an email confirmation with not only the name of the technician, but also his picture and a brief bio. In fact the email included the names, pictures, and bios of all the technicians. My husband works long hours, so it was such a relief to be able to see a picture of the person that would be working at my house. I wish more companies would do this. Kenny did a fantastic job installing everything and explaining all the features. As for the doors themselves, I can't believe how quiet they are! My garage is better insulated as well. I also don't have to worry about my husband forgetting to shut the lights off in the garage because they are on a sensor. From start to finish Precision was professional, informative and accommodating. They get and A+ in my book for customer service and quality. Our double garage door experienced a problem where the main tension spring broke into two, and the Gosh bracket (elbow-shaped arm) was torn away from the inside garage door. The cables were dangling. A real mess. This rendered the door useless. I phoned Precision and spoke with a courteous gentleman on the phone and explained my issues. He told me that they would dispatch a technician out this morning and I was pleased to hear that. The technician arrived not long thereafter. As is their policy, Precision texted me information about the technician ahead of time, including a photo and bio background. I know of no other company that extends this courtesy which provides comforting assurance to the customer. Luke Stachura was polite, professional and a pleasure to deal with. I explained the problems to him and he immediately diagnosed what had happened and provided me with the recommended corrective actions. He explained what was necessary to do, and optionally what would even be better to do. I opted for everything he cited, and approved the work. He answered every single question I had, and explained in detail everything he was going to do. When the job was done, Luke demonstrated the results to my absolute satisfaction. Uncommon workmanship. Took off work to meet at appointed time and was assured on phone that the technician would have all parts for our Liftmaster that wasn't working. Gaetano called ahead and came on time. But he didn't have the part. He tried to sell me on replacing all the units at $599 each. I just wanted to fix one motor. I refused to pay the $69 service and we rescheduled for Saturday. Same guy came back, very nice guy, and he replaced a plastic gear in about 15 minutes. Charge was $69 + $99 labor + $225 for the part + tax. Later when Precision sent an email asking me for this review, I read other reviews and saw others say they were ripped off. Sure enough, when I searched for the part that they charged me $225 online it was readily available for $25 at several places. Gaetano, you seemed like a nice guy. And Doug, owner who asked for a review, are you crazy? How do you guys sleep at night? Update: after reading review, was contacted by company and told there was an "error" and they were issuing me a refund oh $124. So I will give them 2 stars now. Lou Rowek came out today...called ahead of appointment time for permission to come a little earlier. My garage door was intermittently working and other times stopping in the up or down position partway. Lou knew immediately that my problem was not my sensors. He checked the force buttons on the motor and indicated they were too low and moved them to a higher setting. He lubricated my rails while he was there. He explained why the problem was not with my sensors. Although my system is functioning overall, he did point out that the cables, springs, pulleys, and rollers could use replacement due to the age (16 years) of the system. He explained how the new rollers were made of better materials and how springs start to sag over time. He gave me a price if I wanted to pursue for the future. He also explained the lifetime warranty on parts and the labor warranty for 5 years if I proceed with parts replacement. Lou was courteous, clean cut, polite, and efficient. I would not hesitate to call Precision if I decide to proceed with the parts replacements. read more

We had one of our springs break on our overhead door recently. I googled a repair service that was nearby in Pompton Plains, NJ. Their name came up. I've never used this company before, and didn't know what to think, but Lou made our experience a very pleasant one! He communicated with me during the service window, keeping me in the loop. He also called again, letting me know he was only minutes away, before he showed up for the service call. Once here, Lou, and his co-worker Charles, told us our options to fix the door issue. All my questions were answered. Lou and Charles proceeded to perform the repair on our overhead door quickly and efficiently, and had it all done in a short time period. At the end, there was an adjustment that needed to be made to complete the repair, and Lou expertly finessed the door into the perfect position. Lou and Charles were a pleasure to deal with, and I will certainly use Precision Door Service again in the future! First off, I must admit I rarely write reviews. But after my experience with Precision Overhead Garage Door Service, I had to write a review because this company is fantastic! I had a garage door opener installed by them last week on October 29, 2018. Customer service is incredibly professional and really nice. I received a great text letting me know that my technician, Luigi Fusaro, was on the way, followed by a call from the tech himself letting me know he was 30 minutes away. Luigi was great, extremely polite, very knowledgeable and professional. He explained what needed to be done, answered all of my questions and did a great job installing the new garage door opener. He took his time to show me how to operate it and to explain all the features to me. Then he left the garage cleaner than when he arrived I think. This is a first class operation. One of the most professional companies in service industry Ive ever worked with. The designer Tammy came to the house Covid ready and gave us the best advice for our Garage Door needs. She was very informative and showed us all our options. She also gave us a virtual look as to what doors would look good on our garage. Precision kept us updated by email as to when the doors will be in so that we weren't guessing and didn't have to follow up as to what is typical in the home improvement industry. The price was very reasonable for the better product that they sell. When the doors were ready to be installed we got a email from Precision as to whom was the installer and his bio. along with a picture of him and the time he will be there. Received an email confirmation for the window of time. The technician scheduled to do the work called prior to the window of time to confirm the time he would arrive. Brian was the technician and he was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the garage door system. He assessed the problem with the door that would not open. He explained what was occurring and made the repairs. He assessed all three garage doors that were originally installed approximately 20 years ago. He explained to me what i should expect to see with each door and provided me with options going forward and he provided his recommendation upon my request. The service, company support by management and the technician was excellent and I would recommend them going forward. For any appointment, with any company, to include email notifications confirming your appointment, I would still recommend calling prior to the service window to ensure you are on the schedule for the day. read more

The 17 year old, chain driven, Liftmaster broke and the over 10 year old torsion springs could not balance the 16ft wooden garage door any longer. We called early afternoon and were given a four hour window next morning. The technician Charles G. called twice on his way to let us know the approximate arrival time. I explained to him what happened. He then gave a recommendation and the related costs assuring a save garage door operation and a 10 year warranty. We switched from a chain driven system to a belt driven system, what a difference. The disturbing noise while opening or closing the garage door completely disappeared. A highly recommended change. Charles completed the installation in three hours and left the job site in neat order. He is a real professional, customer oriented and friendly person. Technical professional Cesar and assistant Favre arrived on time on a cold Saturday morning and quickly resolved the problem with one of our garage doors. The overall customer service process at this company is impressive. We talked with Monica in Customer Service and she immediately arranged for next day service, even though the next day was a Saturday. I also received a text message and email to confirm the appointment. About half an hour before his arrival, Cesar called us to let us know that he was on his way . I called precision to fix my torque master garage door spring. They came on June 15, 2020 in 1 day which was nice. Chris arrived and changed my springs to conventional spring because I was told that they don't replace that type. The Tech was at my house for 1 hour. He did his job well. The charge for 4 cast iron pullies, 2 garage door 90 lbs springs, 2 safety cables and 2 operating cables was a shocking $699.00 in my opinion and experience with home repair that is high. I consulted my neighbors(too Late) and was informed that they had the same job done locally for a couple of hundred dollars cheaper as all the homes were built in 2006. Get a local person as this company is very expensive...not rocket science either. Next time Ill do it myself. If you price these items at Home depot, all the parts can be purchased for less that $200. 1 hour labor- in my humble opinion...is very steep. read more

The first two places I called were rather rude to me, so it was no small thing that the people at Precision were professional and polite and efficient, not to mention friendly and down to earth. I am careful about how and where I spend my money but I trusted Lou R. and my trust was not misplaced. He gave a fair assessment of the problem (explaining it not once but twice, to me and to the warranty company I have an account with) and he did a great job with my garage door opener intstallation more quickly than I would have thought possible. I needed work on my garage doors, and since it was close, I decided to go to the Pompton office and set up an appointment. Hilal took care of me. I was getting assigned Lou. It's a nice operation, glad I opted not to phone it in. Another garage door contractor, I used before, ghosted me. Refused to return my calls. Then didn't show up for the appointment without notifying me. Wasted my Friday. I didn't need to call or check on Precision. Text the night before, text in the morning with Lou's profile, and Lou called when he was on his way. I researched the types of things that go with doors, how to fix it, different issues, and when Lou explained the issues it made sense. I watched everything, while he explained everything.
